The new year brings with it a new hope and excitement about the unknown future ahead. Yet with it also comes certain troubles and suffering. But as Christians we can have confidence knowing that there is always a purpose to the pain God allows in our lives. A purpose meant for both our good and His glory. So even in the midst of the darkest trial, we can find joy. For we know God is in complete control, will never forsake us, and has glorious plans in store for those He calls His own. Great plans of prosperity and hope!

Astronaut Quotes Psalm 30

Psalm 30 is a song written for the dedication of David’s palace and a Psalm of hope. So when NASA astronaut, Victor Glover, saw the sun rising above the earth’s horizon, the Psalm popped into his  mind. Aboard the international space station, Glover sees many beautiful sights and posts many pictures on social media. Of the sunrise he said, “Took these photos today, I love sunrises and sunsets,” Glover wrote on Instagram and Twitter, “Can you see the bands of color? They remind me of the scripture in Psalm 30. Houston Megachurch Pastor Sentenced To Prison

Houston megachurch pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and defrauding investors. Caldwell was the pastor of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church and was a spiritual adviser to presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.  The pastor was convicted of selling nearly $3.5 million in worthless pre-revolutionary Chinese bonds to the elderly and other vulnerable investors. Read more about his conviction here.

 

Jerusalem Gives Approval For New U.S. Embassy Location

Coming off the backs of successful accomplishments with the Abraham Accords, Jerusalem has now approved the new location for the U.S. Embassy. The site, on Hebron Road, is on an invisible line that separates East and West Jerusalem. In 2018 President Trump moved the embassy to Jerusalem and declared declared Jerusalem Israel’s Capital. New President elect Joe Biden, says that he will not move the embassy back to Tel Aviv. Read more about the new proposed embassy here. 

 

Waitress Saves Abused Boy
A waitress in Orlando called 911 to report an abused child after she wrote him a note asking if he needed help. Flavaine Carvalho, a restaurant manager at Mrs. Potato Restaurant in Orlando, noticed bruises on a young boy who was at the restaurant with his family. She held up a hand written sign asking the boy if he needed help. when the boy responded with a yes, police were called. The parents were arrested and charged with multiple counts of aggravated child abuse and child neglect. Read more about this good Samaritan here.
