Because they were no longer bound by the constraints of the law, the members of the Corinthian church mistakenly believed that grace gave them a free pass to do whatever they liked with their bodies. Freedom to eat and drink what they wished, and to have sexual relations with whomever they wanted. But Paul tells them to hold up. Time for some self discipline here. Just because they could do it doesn’t mean they should do it. And being under grace isn’t a license to sin. Those bodies of theirs needed to be treated right. Why? Because our bodies are not our own. They belong to God. And as His stewards there are some things to need to consider. …

Romans 5:5

We will all face hardships in our lives. And one of things that gets us through the bad times is hope. But where we place our hope can mean the difference between enduring the storm with peace and joy, or disappointment and shame. The fallen world in which we live, offers a hope that is fleeting and untrustworthy. However when we place our hope in God we can face any trial with confidence and perseverance. Because the unchanging, unmerited, and unconditional love of God which fills our hearts with a proven, unshakable, hope that comes from Him alone.
