Unaccompanied Children Crisis At Border
In a heartbreaking crisis at the border, thousand of children are being held U.S. border detention centers. As a result, the Department of Homeland Security has called on the Federal Emergency Management Agency “to help receive, shelter and transport the children” arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border. Some 5,800 unaccompanied children crossed the border in January, and many are predicting that at least 7,000 migrant children entered the U.S. last month. Pope Francis Bars Blessing Of Same Sex Marriage
Pope Francis has invited LGBT advocates to the Vatican. He has spoken warmly about the place of gay people in the church, and has called for national laws for same-sex civil unions. Now the pope has made a pronouncement banning priests from blessing same sex marriages. The decree declares same-sex unions are not ordered to the Creator’s plan, and those unions is illicit. Florida Pastor Loses Two Daughters And Three Grandchildren In Tragic Accident
Florida pastor, Anthony Oliver of Taft Missionary Baptist Church, had his life turned upside down due to a tragic car accident. The accident apparently happened after the car carrying his daughters and grandkids tried to make a left turn, while they tried to make the left turn, an oncoming car reportedly hit them. As a result, two of the pastors daughters were killed along with three of his grandchildren. The family has set up a go fund me account to help raise funds. Grandson Finds Grandfather’s Lost WW2 Army Band Recordings
A World War II recording that had been lost for nearly a half-century was discovered in an attic–and it’s believed to be the only known recording by a frontline military band stationed with troops near a battlefield. Jason Burt found the recordings belonging to his grandfather, Richard Burt, in his grandfather’s garage attic. Richard, an avid trumpet player, was part of a 20-piece band who decided to record themselves playing 10 chart-topping songs of the era. Upon completion of the recording session in a jungle tent, Jason’s grandpa brought the recordings home, where he pressed them into 78rpm records. Read more about this discovery here.
