David’s reign over Israel was nearing its end. He was a shepherd, a warrior, a hero, a king, a psalmist, and a sinner. And through it all he never lost his faith or his desire to live for the Lord. Now in his final years, as he reflects on all that God has done for him, David writes a song of thankfulness and love for the Lord. “I call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised.” (v. 22:4) …

Hebrews 9:28

The penalty of sin results in a debt that we all owe. And knowing that not one of us has the ability to pay on our own, Jesus Christ came. He came to become the only sacrifice acceptable to God and stamp our debt paid in full. With His death on the Cross, Christ provided to everyone that would believe on His name, the gift of eternal life. And now Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father waiting until it’s time to come once again. This time, Jesus returns not to offer salvation, but to come for His beloved bride. To call home those who eagerly have waited for His return. Oh how I long for that glorious day, and I cry, “Maranatha!” Come soon Lord Jesus!
