October 3rd – Psalm 27:1

Oct. 3- Psalm 27:1

Even though David was constantly running for his life from King Saul, he wasn’t afraid. He knew the light of the Lord could cast out any and all darkness.  For as 1 John 4:18 tells us, “Perfect love casts out fear”. When we fill our hearts with the perfect love of Jesus, there can be no room for worry, fear, or doubt. And in these times of turmoil and divisiveness, we can find security knowing we are under the protective wings of the Lord. Do you have areas of fear that need the light of the Lord? Are you sharing the stronghold of Jesus with those seeking shelter from their storms?

October 2nd – John 8:12

Oct. 2-John 8:12

I love taking morning walks down an old familiar path just as the sun is coming up. As it rises I see the brilliance of its rays shining all around me, turning shadow into light. And as I look up to the sky to feel its warmth upon my skin, I can’t help but think of Psalm 118:27 which says,  “The LORD is God and has made His light shine upon us.” Jesus is that shining light. And when we follow His path of truth, we never need worry about getting lost in spiritual darkness. Is the light of Jesus shining brightly in your life? Have you shared that light with those still living in darkness?

October 1st – Matthew 5:16

Oct. 1- Matthew 5:16

We know that good works can’t save us, but rather we are saved for good works. Paul tells us, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10) I love how Dr. Charles Stanley asks, “Does anyone know you are a light burning with the fire of heaven?” Today, take time to reflect on your “good works”. Do they shine brightly for the glory of God? Do they attract others to the Father like a moth to a flame?
