Psalm 118:24

Some days are harder than others. There are mornings when we wake up already carrying yesterday’s worries, and there are days that don’t go anything like we hoped they would. Life has a way of reminding us that not every day is easy, and not every day feels like a good one.

But Psalm 118:24 gently tells us that every day is still a gift from God. The fact that we opened our eyes this morning is evidence of His mercy. Every sunrise is another opportunity to start over, to leave yesterday behind, to make things right, to grow in our faith, and to become a little more like Christ.

I’m so thankful that God doesn’t expect perfection from me. He simply invites me to keep walking with Him. His mercies are new every morning, and His grace is always enough for whatever this day may bring.

We may not be able to choose our circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to them. We can choose gratitude instead of complaining, hope instead of discouragement, and trust instead of fear. Some days those choices are easier than others, but God faithfully walks beside us through them all.

So today, whether this day brings joy or challenges, thank God for the gift of another beginning. Every new day is another chance to get it right, another chance to love well, and another chance to experience His goodness and mercy. And that alone is reason to rejoice.

1 Timothy 2:16 

This Fourth of July feels especially meaningful as our nation celebrates America’s 250th birthday. For 250 years, we’ve enjoyed many freedoms that countless people around the world can only dream of. It’s a time to celebrate, to reflect, and to be thankful for the blessings we’ve been given.

But as Christians, freedom carries a deeper meaning. In 1 Peter 2:16, we’re reminded that our freedom isn’t meant to be used however we please. Instead, it’s an opportunity to live in a way that honors God and serves others.

The greatest freedom I’ve ever known isn’t found in a document or a government. It’s the freedom Jesus purchased when He gave His life for me. He set me free from the power of sin, from guilt, from shame, and from the burden of trying to earn God’s love. That freedom changes everything.

As we celebrate America’s birthday, may we also remember that true freedom isn’t just about our rights. Instead, it’s about how we choose to live. May we use the freedoms God has given us to love well, serve faithfully, speak kindly, and point others to Christ.

Today, let’s celebrate with grateful hearts, thanking God for our country while never forgetting the greater freedom we have in Jesus. May our lives reflect both gratitude for the blessings we’ve received and a commitment to honor the One who gave us the greatest gift of all. Happy Fourth of July!

July 3rd – Romans 8:1

Romans 8:1

One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is the difference between condemnation and conviction. For years, I thought they were the same thing. Every time I messed up, I would carry guilt for days, wondering if God was disappointed with me. But Romans 8:1 reminds us that “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit. It gently points out our sin, leads us to repentance, and draws us back into God’s loving arms. It says, “Come back to Me.” Condemnation, on the other hand, comes from the Enemy. It whispers, “You’ll never change. God is tired of you. You’re a failure.” One leads us to Jesus. The other tries to drive us away from Him.

The beautiful truth is that when we confess our sins, God forgives us completely. He doesn’t ask us to keep carrying the guilt after He’s already taken it away. We can learn from our mistakes without living under the weight of them.

So the next time you fail, and we all do, listen carefully to the voice you’re hearing. If it’s calling you back to Jesus, that’s conviction. If it’s telling you you’re beyond His grace, that’s condemnation. And because of Christ, condemnation no longer has the final word over your life.

John 8:36

Dwight L. Moody once said, “If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you are free.” Throughout the month of July, we celebrate freedom as a nation. It’s a time to reflect on how precious freedom really is and to appreciate the many blessings we enjoy. But for me, that celebration isn’t complete without thinking about the greatest freedom I’ve ever been given. And that’s the freedom that comes through Jesus Christ.


Jesus didn’t simply come to make our lives a little better. He came to set us free. Free from the guilt of our past. Free from the power of sin. And free from shame, fear, and condemnation. He willingly laid down His life on the Cross so we could experience a freedom that nothing in this world can ever offer.

The freedoms we enjoy in this life are wonderful, but they can change with time. The freedom Jesus gives is different. It isn’t based on circumstances, governments, or anything this world can control. It is eternal. No one can take it away because it was purchased by the blood of Christ.

That truth gives me so much hope. No matter what happens around me, I know who I belong to. My heart has been set free, my sins have been forgiven, and my future is secure in Him.

As we celebrate freedom this month, let’s remember the freedom that matters most. The precious freedom Jesus died to give us. It is the greatest gift we will ever receive, and it is ours forever.

Galatians 5:1

This month, our nation celebrates America’s 250th birthday. As we reflect on what freedom means to each of us, I hope we’ll never take lightly the sacrifices of the brave men and women who laid down their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today. Their courage came at a great cost, and we honor them with grateful hearts.

But as thankful as I am for those freedoms, I’m reminded of an even greater freedom. One that could only be purchased by Jesus Christ. He willingly laid down His life on the Cross so we could be set free from the power of sin, guilt, shame, fear, and condemnation. No one took His life from Him. He gave it because He loves us.

Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Those words remind me that Jesus didn’t suffer and die so I would continue carrying the very burdens He came to remove. Too often, I find myself picking up worry, fear, bitterness, or trying to earn God’s approval, forgetting that Christ has already set me free.

As we celebrate freedom this month, may we remember the price that was paid. A price paid not only by those who defended our country, but by our Savior who gave everything so we could have eternal life. And because He laid down His life for us, may we choose each day to walk in the freedom He purchased, never returning to the chains He came to break. That is the greatest freedom of all.

Hebrews 12:1

Life has a way of weighing us down. We carry worry about our families, regret over past mistakes, fear about the future, and sometimes even the opinions of people we’ll never be able to please. Before long, we’re exhausted. And not because life is impossible, but because we’re carrying things God never asked us to carry.

Hebrews 12:1 tells us to “lay aside every weight.” I don’t think that’s just talking about obvious sins. Sometimes the heaviest burdens are worry, bitterness, guilt, comparison, or trying to control things that only God can control. Those things drain our joy and keep us from moving forward.

I’ve had seasons where I made life harder than it needed to be because I held onto things God was asking me to surrender. The moment I finally placed them in His hands, I realized how much lighter my heart became.

Following Jesus isn’t about sprinting through life. It’s about faithfully taking one step after another, trusting Him with today’s burdens and tomorrow’s uncertainties. We don’t have to carry the whole journey at once. We only have to keep walking with the One who promises to walk beside us.

So today, ask yourself. “What am I carrying that God wants me to leave with Him?” You were never meant to carry those burdens alone. Let them go, fix your eyes on Jesus, and keep moving forward. He’ll give you the strength for every step.

Habakuk 3:17-18

There ‘s no denying that these are difficult times. Every trip to the grocery store seems to cost more than the last. Gas prices, utility bills, and everyday expenses continue to rise. And many families are feeling the weight of it all. It’s easy to become discouraged when we’re constantly worrying about how everything will get paid for.

Yet Habakkuk paints a powerful picture of faith. He speaks of empty fields, failed crops, and a season of lack, but then he makes an incredible declaration. “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” His joy wasn’t based on what he had. It was based on who God is.

Whether we’re living in a season of plenty or a season of struggle, there is always something to be grateful for. God’s goodness doesn’t change with our circumstances. His faithfulness isn’t measured by how much we have in our bank account. He’s still providing, sustaining, and walking beside us through every challenge.

Above all else, we have the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. And that’s our precious Savior, Jesus Christ. Money can disappear. Possessions wear out. Circumstances change. But the love of Christ, the hope of our salvation, and the promise of eternal life can never be taken away. And that deserves great rejoicing!

If life feels heavy today, lift your eyes above your circumstances and fix them on Jesus. He is still worthy of our praise in times of feast and in times of famine. When everything else feels uncertain, He remains our unchanging hope.

Lamentations 3:22-23

If I’m being honest, I have to admit there isn’t a single day where I don’t mess up. I say things I wish I hadn’t said. I have attitudes I need to surrender. And many times I fall short of the person God is calling me to be.

Becoming a Christian didn’t suddenly make me perfect. It simply made me aware of how much I need a perfect Savior. The Bible tells us that none of us are righteous. Not even one. And left to ourselves, we all miss the mark.

That’s why I love the promise in Lamentations 3. Every morning, God’s mercies are new. Every sunrise is another reminder that He hasn’t given up on me. Every day is another opportunity to confess my sins, turn back to Him, and start again. God doesn’t keep a record of every failure when we come to Him with a humble and repentant heart. He is faithful to forgive, to cleanse, and to extend grace that I could never earn.

I’m so thankful that my relationship with God isn’t built on my perfection but on His mercy. If it depended on me getting everything right, I’d fail every single time. But because of Jesus, I don’t have to live in yesterday’s mistakes. I can leave them at the foot of the cross, receive His forgiveness, and walk into a new day knowing His mercy is waiting for me once again. Great is His faithfulness.

Jeremiah 29:11

If you’re anything like me, you’re a list maker and a planner. I map out my future, set goals, and imagine how I think life should happen. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life rarely goes according to my plan. Doors close, unexpected hardships come, and sometimes the path ahead looks nothing like the one I had carefully planned.

Yet while my plans often change, God’s never do. He sees the beginning from the end. He knows every twist, every detour, every disappointment, and every blessing long before we do. Nothing catches Him by surprise.

There have been times when I was disappointed because something I wanted didn’t work out. Looking back now, I can see God’s hand protecting me, redirecting me, and leading me to something far better than I could have imagined. At the time I couldn’t understand it, but now I’m grateful He didn’t answer every prayer the way I wanted.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God isn’t making up His plan as He goes. He already has one. His plans are filled with hope, purpose, and His perfect love for us. They may not always be easy, and they may not always happen on our timetable, but they are always good because they come from a good Father.

So if life hasn’t turned out the way you expected, don’t lose heart. Trust the One who holds your future. His plan has never failed, and it never will. One day you’ll look back and realize that what felt like a detour was actually God leading you exactly where you needed to be. To trust Him, because His plans are always better than anything we could have hoped for ourselves!

Isaiah 40:31

Life can be hard. There are seasons when the burdens seem heavier than we can carry, the disappointments cut deeper than we expected, and the road ahead feels longer than we have the strength to travel. Sometimes we reach a point where we simply don’t know how to take another step.

That’s why I love the promise found in Isaiah 40:31. God never expected us to carry life’s burdens alone. He doesn’t stand at a distance watching us struggle. He walks beside us through every trial, every heartache, and every storm. And when we are too weary to keep going, He gives us the strength we need for that moment.

There have been times in my life when I felt completely drained. Drained emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Looking back, I can see that it wasn’t my own strength that carried me through. It was God’s. When I couldn’t take another step, He sustained me. When I felt weak, He became my strength. When I was ready to give up, He gently lifted me up and helped me keep moving forward.

If you’re weary today, take heart. The same God who created the stars knows exactly what you’re carrying. He sees your struggles, hears your prayers, and understands your pain. Lean on Him. Trust Him. The journey may still be difficult, but you don’t have to walk it alone. And when your strength runs out, His never will.
