March 9th – 1 Kings 17:16

1 Kings 17:16

I can only imagine how the poor widow must have felt when she encountered Elijah. Not only did he ask her for a drink he also asked the unthinkable. To take the precious last of her flour and oil to make him bread. She was down to nothing, barely holding on, trying to feed her starving son. Every instinct must have told her to cling tightly to what little she had left. And yet, she obeyed. She trusted. And because of that, God took her little and turned it into more than enough. Isn’t that just like Him? How often does He ask us to let go of something when we feel like we have nothing left to give? Maybe it’s our time, our resources, our trust. It’s scary, because we only see what’s in front of us. But God sees beyond. He sees the provision, the blessing, and the abundance waiting on the other side of our obedience. If we hold on too tightly, we miss out on the miracle. But if we trust Him, He will take what little we have and multiply it beyond anything we could have imagined. He did it for the widow, and He promises to do the same for us.

June 13th – 1 Kings 8:34

1 Kings 8:34

then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.”

Many times Israel sinned against God. And just as many times God forgave them. Many too are the sins of our country. Like Israel we have disobeyed God, embraced wickedness, and turned aside from the Lord. Yet thankfully, God’s forgiveness is not limited to only the nation of Israel. It’s available to any country that humbly turns to Him, acknowledges its wrongdoings, and seeks His mercy. And our country is in desperate need of repentance and forgiveness. During the dedication of the temple, King Solomon prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the people of Israel when they sinned against Him. We too need to be interceding for our country. Praying our leaders make decisions based on God’s will. That her people will repent from evil, and that God will not remove His hand of blessing from us. Asking God to forgive our transgressions and guide the nation towards righteousness, unity, and peace.

May 27th – 1 Kings 18:39

1 Kings 18:39

Whenever we come before God in prayer, He wants us to pray from a position of authority and power. Look at the prophet Elijah. When he put the false idol Baal up against God Almighty he cried out, “Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God.” (1 Kings 18:37) And God answered in a big way, sending fire from heaven. Through the blood of Jesus, we are seated at a place of authority. The privileged place of the right hand of God. So when we pray, and in the name of Jesus, we are claiming His power and asking the Father to act in the name of His Son. God wants us to be bold with our intercessions. To have faith that when we ask Him to move in ways that bring Him glory, He will respond mightily. So pray with braveness and persistence. And prepare yourself to be blown away by God’s power!

Walking In God’s Truth – 2 John

2 John

In this second epistle by John, he writes to, “the chosen lady and her children”. Some argue that this woman was not an actual person, but rather the church as a whole and her members. But whether John’s letter was written for one or for all, it is a wonderful reminder of the importance of loving one another, discernment in regards to false teachers, and walking in God’s truth. …
