Isaiah 58:10-11

When God tells us to help the less fortunate, it’s not just for their benefit but for ours. Because there’s a profound connection between helping those in need and experiencing God’s abundant blessings. Blessings including a compassionate heart and the joy that comes from being a source of hope and support to others. Add to that personal growth, fulfillment, and spiritual enrichment. That’s why we are called to be instruments of God’s abundance. The world is facing unprecedented challenges. And in these trying times, Christians have the opportunity to step up. To be beacons of God’s love and grace by extending a helping hand. And to embody the message of compassion, kindness, and selflessness that Jesus exemplified throughout His life. By helping the less fortunate, we as Christians have an opportunity to be ambassadors for Jesus. Living testimonies of the very Gospel we follow. And true examples of God’s love to a world in desperate need.

Mark 11:25

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses”

Forgiveness isn’t just about letting go of hard feelings or seeking reconciliation with others. It goes deeper, reflecting a fundamental aspect of God’s character. When we forgive others, we demonstrate to the world the mercy and grace that we ourselves receive daily from God. Jesus teaches that our forgiveness from God is intertwined with our willingness to forgive others. By holding onto grudges, resentment, or refusing to forgive, we create a barrier between ourselves and God’s forgiveness. When we harbor unforgiveness in our hearts, it hinders our own spiritual growth and prevents us from experiencing the fullness of God’s love and mercy. That’s why Jesus encourages us to cultivate a forgiving heart. A heart of Christ that lets go of bitterness, and releases others from the debts they owe us. Because in doing so we open ourselves up to receive the abundant forgiveness and grace that God offers. And receive healing, reconciliation, and a deeper connection with God and others.

Philippians 2:3

I once heard humility described as not thinking less of yourself, but rather thinking of yourself less. In his writings, the apostle Paul stressed the importance of humility in the Christian walk. As exampled by Jesus, humility and kindness go hand in hand. And if we want to mimic our Lord, we can’t have overinflated egos that leave no room for the needs of others. Jesus lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a humiliating, excruciatingly painful death nailed to a Cross. He willingly became our substitute for sin, paying the debt we owed. All in accordance to the will of God and out of His love and kindness for mankind. We are Christ’s ambassadors on earth. And although we’ll never be able to repay His wonderful gift of salvation, making sure our actions reflect His humility and kindness is a great place to start!

May 8th – Titus 3:2

Titus 3:2

We’ve all heard the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do to you. But to God, this more than a suggestion, it’s a commandment. In his letter to Titus, Paul makes it clear that if we truly abide in Jesus, it will be evident in the way we treat others. Throughout His ministry, Jesus put the needs of others before His  own. And Paul admonishes us to do the same. “ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.” (Phil. 2:3) To be good ambassadors of Jesus, we need to resemble His behavior in all we do!
