Beginnings

January 28th – Ecclesiastes 7:8

Ecclesiastes 7:8

Sometimes we only see the true worth of a journey at its conclusion. Because it’s only then we can look back and see how the hand of God was at work. And while beginnings hold a wonderful promise, it’s often the lessons we learn and the growth we experience along the way that make the end more valuable than the start. That why Solomon reminds us of the wisdom in embracing the process of change, no matter how long it takes. For just as the repeated lapping of the water slowly shapes a precious stone, or the gradual growth from a small sapling to a mighty oak, change requires patience and perseverance. But we can rest assured that the outcome will be worth it. Because when we rely on God and trust in His timing, the patience we exhibit will bring a harvest of blessings beyond our imagination. So in the journey of change, let us anchor our faith in God’s promises. And know that the destination He leads us to will always be better than we anything we could have ever dreamed.

January 15th – Joshua 6:20

Joshua 6:20

We often build walls of self defense that we believe offer us a place safety. But ironically, they can become the very barriers that hinder our growth and progress. Embracing change and moving forward requires the courage to tear down these self-imposed walls, allowing us to step into the limitless possibilities of new beginnings. That’s why I love the story of Jericho and it’s fall. Their defensive walls crumbled at the sound of the Israelites’ obedience to God’s command. This powerful narrative resonates with the assurance that God, in His might, can tear down the seemingly insurmountable walls that hinder our progress. Just as the walls of Jericho fell, God stands ready to demolish the barriers in our lives that block our journey toward new beginnings. This verse embodies the transformative power of faith and obedience. For it reminds us that with God on our side, even the strongest wall will crumble. Paving the way for a fresh start and a future shaped by His divine plan.

January 13th – Deuteronomy 1:6

Deuteronomy 1:6

Sometimes we find ourselves stuck on a mountain top, too comfortable or too afraid to come down. But if we really want to move toward something new, we need courage. Courage to step into the valley of change, where growth and new opportunities await. And although scary, if we descend with faith guiding our steps, we can find excitement knowing every slope leads to a new beginning. The Israelites found themselves stuck at Mt. Horeb, afraid to enter the land God gave them. Yet He called them to put aside their fear. To arise and claim His beautiful promise. And He calls us to do the same. He beckons us to embrace change, and embark on a fresh chapter in life under His loving care. To move forward with bravery and faith. In our own journey of moving from the mountain, Deuteronomy 1:6 serves as a wonderful compass. One that directs us toward uncharted territories. Amazing new places where God’s promises unfold, and the beauty of new beginnings await for those who trust in His leading.

January 12th – Genesis 12:1

Genesis 12:1

When it comes to life advice I’ve always told my son, “People who never color outside the lines, lead a pretty boring life.” As is His way, sometimes God hands us the crayons and invites us to color outside the lines of our comfort box. Just like He did with Abraham. Heeding God’s call, Abraham left everything he knew to journey into the unknown. He accepted God’s invitation to embrace a new beginning, one that required unwavering trust and obedience. God’s call to Abraham reminds us that new beginnings often happen when we are willing to trust in His plans and obediently follow His lead. Especially when the path ahead is uncertain. When we trust God and step out of our comfort zone, we embark on a journey where fear transforms into faith, doubts into discoveries, and limitations into limitless possibilities. It’s a path of surrender and grace, where God unfolds His plans in ways that surpass our imagination, turning the ordinary into extraordinary.

January 9th – Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1

Faith is the quiet confidence that whispers in our heart. It urges us to believe in the unseen and trust in the promises yet to unfold. Embarking on a journey of renewal often requires stepping into the unfamiliar with unwavering faith. And trusting in God’s promises even when we don’t see the path ahead. When we have faith, we have the courage to embrace the unknown, trusting that there’s something better on the other side. And it’s this kind of faith that keeps us moving forward through the challenges of changing. For it puts complete trust in God to guide us toward the hope and possibilities that lie ahead. Faith empowers us to let go of old patterns, trust in the Lord, and step out into our journey of transformation. In navigating new beginnings, it’s our faith that’s the compass which guides us with confidence through uncharted territories. Allowing us to move forward with excitement and joy over the abundant prospects that God has prepared for those who believe.

January 3rd – 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17

As we step into this month of renewal and fresh beginnings, let us anchor ourselves in the foundational truth of being a new creation in Christ. For in Jesus, we are not defined by our past, our old ways of thinking, living, and behaving. Instead the Lord’s love breathes new life into our souls, offering a fresh start and rewriting the story of who we are. Being a new creation in Christ signifies a radical shift from a life of sin, to a life reconciled with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It not only redeems, but rejuvenates our very essence. God’s promise of becoming a new creation, is a testament to His boundless grace. One that extends beyond our past mistakes and shortcomings, and is a beautiful testament of His amazing love. In embracing this truth, we find ourselves standing on the threshold of a fresh start, a canvas wiped clean by the brushstrokes of God’s love. May this awareness of our newness in Christ inspire and guide us as we navigate the journey of renewal and beginnings in the days ahead.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Good morning 2024! A new dawn, and a new day! A fresh, blank page awaiting the ink of our intentions and the brushstrokes of our aspirations. It whispers promises of fresh possibilities and the beauty of new beginnings. And if you’re at all like me, it also brings new resolutions. Goals and promises made for the months ahead. Yet whether those goals are fleeting or brought to fruition, we can find comfort in knowing each new morning also brings the promise of God’s mercies. For His love never ceases, and great is His faithfulness. As we stand at the threshold of new beginnings, God’s promise serves as a beacon of hope, admonishing us that each dawn brings with it a fresh outpouring of divine grace. So no matter what the year ahead holds, God’s love will be there for every moment, offering renewal, redemption, and the enduring promise of new beginnings. Happy New Year!
