Through His glory and excellence, God promises to give us everything we need to lead a Christian life. And these glorious promises have the power to accomplish awesome things, including changing us to become more like Jesus. When we abide in Him, we become partakers in His divine nature. That means, through the Holy Spirit, we have the unlimited power of Christ inside of us. The Spirit equips us to run from sin, stand strong in God’s Word, and escape worldly corruption. So claim the glorious promises of God, and be transformed by His greatness and goodness!

In his letter to the Corinthians Paul instructed the people to be alert, stand firm, and be strong. But above all else, whatever they did, both great and small, was to be done in love. And Paul calls us to do the same. For if we are truly followers of Jesus, our goal should be to become reflections of His character. And one of the greatest characteristics of Jesus is His unmerited and unconditional love for all. We too can exhibit that same love when we allow the Holy Spirit to work on our hearts, softening them to allow Christ’s love to flow through to others.

Ephesians 4:22-24

Our goal as Christians should be to use every day and it’s experiences to become more like Jesus. That means with each new morning, we need to let go of our sinful, worldly, desires and behaviors. We do this by praying that God will strip away the old and give us new hearts and new natures focused on leading lives for His glory. The Christian walk isn’t a sprint, but rather a marathon. An ongoing renewal of our minds and lives. And like Paul, we need to work hand in hand with the Holy Spirit to transform us into mirror images of Christ.

Is one of your New Year goals to clean up your life and grow in your faith? It’s God plan for us to live a life that glorifies Him and to become more Christlike in our nature. On our own, this can seem like an impossible task. But to each Believer, God gives everything we need to grown in faith, grace, and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (2 Pet. 3:18) So when we truly have a heart of change, God will equip us to make that change happen, and to live a life dedicated to and anchored in Him!
