Galatians 4:4-5

The apostle Paul tells us that at just the right time, God sent His only Son into the world so we could become beloved members of His family. That means Christmas is more than a celebration of Jesus’ birth. It’s also the celebration of a family being born. A beautiful, grace filled family that welcomes all who receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Once we were enemies of God. But because of Jesus, we are no longer left on the outside looking in. Now through His shed blood, we are adopted sons and daughters of the most high God. This makes Christmas so much more meaningful. Causing us to rejoice not only for the gift of our Messiah, but for the gift of belonging. For being chosen, deeply loved, and called God’s very own. Through God’s kept promise, what once felt distant was brought near. A perfect love poured out freely, not because we earned it, but simply because He alone is good. And when I think about that, my heart bursts with gratitude. Gratitude because grace has made us family. And above all, gratitude to God for His precious Son Jesus. Our Savior, our friend, and our brother.

Reflection Question: How does knowing you are fully adopted into God’s family change the way you see yourself this Christmas?

Prayer Prompt: Father, thank You for sending Your Son at just the right time. Thank You for adopting me into Your family and loving me so freely. Help me live with gratitude and praise, honoring Jesus. My Savior, friend, and brother. Amen.

Week 3 – Wisdom In Community (Hebrews 10:24-25)

In Hebrews the apostle Paul reminds us of the critical importance of fellowship, especially as the return of Christ draws nearer. In a world that often pushes isolation, we are called to come together as the body of Christ. And not only to worship, but to encourage and build one another up. Because isolation can lead to discouragement and loneliness. Yet in fellowship we find strength, accountability, and love. Coming together with fellow believers allows us to stir one another up to love and good works. And it helps us stay focused on our mission as Christians. We need each other to walk this journey of faith, to offer support, prayer, and a reminder of God’s promises. As the world grows darker and challenges increase, we can’t afford to face them alone. The church is a source of hope, a family where we are uplifted, corrected in love, and motivated to persevere. So let’s not give up meeting together, but cherish every opportunity to encourage one another as we await the glorious return of our Savior.

  1. How can we make a greater effort to encourage and support our fellow believers in their faith as we gather together in fellowship?
  1. In what ways can we prioritize regular fellowship with the church to strengthen our walk with Christ as the day of His return approaches?

Week 3 – Wisdom In Relationships (Ephesians 5:33)

The apostle Paul offers timeless wisdom for relationships, particularly between husbands and wives. He instructs husbands to love their wives as they love themselves, and for wives to respect their husbands. This mutual care and devotion form the foundation of a healthy and God-centered relationship. Love, as Paul describes it, is not just a feeling, but a choice to honor and serve one another daily. It’s a selfless love that mirrors Christ’s love for the Church. One that sacrifices, nurtures, and uplifts. Respect, on the other hand, fosters trust and appreciation, creating an environment where love can thrive. When both partners embrace these principles, they cultivate a relationship that reflects God’s design for unity and harmony. We live in a world where love can be conditional and fleeting. That’s why Paul’s call to love and respect offers a steady, enduring guide. Applying this wisdom not only strengthens marriages but also radiates God’s love to others through our example.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 the apostle Paul urges us to, “give thanks in all circumstances.” A challenging call when we witness Israel under attack, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and deep divisions within our own country. Divisions between friends, loved ones, and even the church. All that turmoil can make gratitude seem almost impossible. Yet God calls us to live a life of thankfulness just the same. To recognize the blessings we have, and continue to receive, and the hope we hold in Christ. For amidst the chaos, we are blessed with His unwavering presence and the promise of eternal life. Each day we are given is a gift, and an opportunity to acknowledge the Lord’s goodness and grace. By cultivating a spirit of thanksgiving, we align our hearts with His will, finding peace and strength in His sovereignty. So as we eagerly await His return, let our gratitude be a testament to our faith, illuminating the darkness with the light of His love. In every trial and triumph, may we continuously give thanks, trusting in His perfect plan.

John 14:26

Pentecost is a significant Christian festival commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus. It marks the birth of the Christian Church and is celebrated with joy and gratitude for our great Advocate, whom the Father sent in His name. The significance of Pentecost lies in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. The moment we receive Jesus as our Savior, God’s Spirit takes up residence inside us. And immediately He begins His work of guiding, empowering, and shaping us into the beautiful likeness of Jesus. Through Him we have  all we need to fulfill the call of Christ in our lives. As we reflect on this promise, let us seek a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, asking God to equip us to live lives that honor Him. May the presence of the Holy Spirit in us be evident through our words, actions, and deeds, as we strive to be faithful witnesses of Christ’s love and grace to the world around us.

1 Corinthians 14:1

Have you ever listened to an especially charismatic teacher and wished you could teach like that? Perhaps you’ve heard the most beautiful singing voice and wished you could sing like that? Or maybe you see someone who is always the first one to volunteer, and wished you could serve like that. The truth is, we’ve all felt that way a time or two. And it’s good to want a spiritual gift. But the desire is only good if it stems from a motive of wanting to use the gifts God gives to both build up the church, and each other. The Lord is our great Conductor, and each of us an important member of His heavenly orchestra. And what an honor it is to be able to use our unique gifts and talents to both serve Him and each other. So polish up your instrument, straighten your sheet music, and follow our God as He leads His orchestra in beautiful harmony for the world to hear!
