Colossians

January 13th – Colossians 3:2

Colossians 3:2

Colossians 3:2 speaks powerfully to our hearts in a world shaped by comparison. Now more than ever, social media constantly pressures us to not just keep up with the Joneses, but to be better. To be smarter, more talented, prettier, richer, and more admired. And Influencers promise that fulfillment is only a follow, a purchase, or the next post away. They urge us to keep our eyes fixed on them and their carefully curated lives. Yet God lovingly calls us to lift our gaze higher. To set our minds not on earthly things, but on heavenly ones. Earthly success fades, and the exhausting pursuit of it has left many hearts empty and lives broken. But when we anchor our thoughts in God and His Word we find everything we need. We find peace, purpose, and contentment. And best of all, we receive a treasure in heaven that no trend, failure, or opinion can ever take away.

Reflection Question:
What earthly comparisons or pressures have been stealing your focus from God, and how can you intentionally set your mind on heavenly things instead?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me release the need to measure my worth by the standards of this world. Turn my eyes away from comparison and toward You. Teach me to fix my thoughts on what is eternal, trusting that in You I already have everything I need. Amen.

November 10th – Colossians 2:6-7

Colossians 2:6-7

When I first started gardening, I didn’t understand how much roots really mattered. I’d plant flowers that looked healthy for a while, but as soon as the heat came, they’d wilt and fade. Their roots were too shallow to reach the water that could’ve kept them alive. God used that simple lesson to teach me about faith. Colossians 2:6–7 reminds us to be rooted and built up in Christ. Because without deep roots in Him, we can’t stand strong when life gets hard. Being rooted means staying close to Jesus through prayer. It’s spending time in His Word, and learning to lean on Him instead of myself. And it’s trusting the Lord to grow me, even when I don’t see results right away. The deeper my roots go, the more peace and strength I find. Just like a plant draws life from the soil, I draw mine from Him. And when my roots are in Christ, I can weather any storm.

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help my roots grow deep in You. Teach me to draw my strength and peace from Your presence every day. When life feels heavy, remind me that You are my steady ground and the source of all my growth. Amen.

September 22nd – Colossians 1:10

Colossians 1:10

When I read about walking worthy of the Lord and bearing fruit in every good work, it reminds me that following Jesus is not just about believing, it’s about living. Fruit in our lives isn’t measured by what we know, but by how His Spirit shows through us in the everyday. It’s the gentle patience we extend when frustration sets in. Or the kindness we give to a stranger who may never return it. It’s the forgiveness we choose, when holding a grudge would be easier. And the love we offer when the world says to protect ourselves instead. Sometimes we think fruit means doing something big for God. But often it’s the small, quiet, hidden choices that please Him most. We don’t force this fruit. It grows when we stay connected to Jesus, the Vine. The Spirit transforms our impatience into gentleness, our fear into peace. The closer we walk with Him, the more natural this fruit becomes. And every act of faithfulness points people to the goodness of our God. This is what it means to live a life that truly honors the Lord.

Reflection Question: Where is God calling you to bear fruit in your daily life right now

Prayer Prompt: “Lord, help me stay rooted in You so that my life naturally overflows with fruit that brings You glory in every good work.”

Week 3 – The Wisdom In Forgiveness (Colossians 3:13)

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” It’s tempting to hold onto anger and resentment when we’ve been hurt or wronged. After all, it’s a natural human response. But carrying that burden weighs down our hearts and clouds our spirits. When we forgive, we let go of bitterness and make room for healing and peace. Making forgiveness not just about the other person, but also a gift we to ourselves. And when we reflect on how God forgives us daily, despite our shortcomings, we see the ultimate example of grace. If in His infinite mercy, He chooses to forgive us over and over, how can we withhold that same grace from others? By forgiving, we align our hearts with God’s love, showing wisdom and strength in our relationships. It’s a path to freedom, peace, and spiritual growth.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we practice daily forgiveness towards others, reflecting the same grace and mercy that God shows us?
  1. What steps can we take to let go of past hurts and embrace the healing that comes through forgiving others, as commanded in Colossians 3:13?

Forgiveness is the key that sets your heart free—just as God’s grace unlocks His love for us daily. 🙏🏻❤️

August 20th – Colossians 3:9-10

Week 3 – Embracing Renewal (Colossians 3:9-10)

Bible teacher A.W. Pink once said,” An honest heart seeks to please God in all things and offend Him in none.” As Christians, we are now one big family, united by our faith in Christ. This means we should treat each other with the love, care, and respect that family deserves. And a key aspect of this is always speaking the truth to one another in love. In Colossians 3:9-10, Paul emphasizes that believers should not lie to each other. Why?  Because our new identity in Christ demands honesty. When we put our trust in Christ, we become new people who have died to sin and been made alive in Him. Our goal is to live a Christ-like life, reflecting His character in all we do. Lying to one another is inconsistent with this new identity. And it undermines the trust and unity that should define us as a family in Christ. Paul’s reasoning is grounded in the highest authority, Jesus Himself, who is truth. As members of God’s family, we are called to live out this truth in our relationships, building one another up with honesty, integrity, and love.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we ensure that our interactions with fellow believers are marked by honesty and love, reflecting our new identity in Christ as described in Colossians 3:9-10?
  1. In what ways can we actively practice speaking the truth in love within our Christian community, fostering deeper trust and unity as members of God’s family?

In God’s family, honesty is our language and love is our heartbeat. 🙏🏻❤️

July 26th – Colossians 3:13

Colossians 3:13

Forgiving those who’ve hurt us can be one of the most challenging aspects of our spiritual journey. The pain and betrayal often feel insurmountable, and can turn into bitterness and resentment. But in those times we face a crucial choice to make. We can be better or we can be bitter. The freedom we have in Jesus transforms our hearts, allowing us to soften and open ourselves to forgiveness. This freedom isn’t about ignoring the hurt or pretending it never happened. Instead, it’s about finding the strength through Christ to release the hold that past wounds have on us. Through Jesus, we gain the courage to forgive even the deepest hurts. Now forgiveness doesn’t always mean reconciliation, but it is a conscious decision to let go of our grievances. One that mirrors the grace which God extends to us. It frees us from the burden of anger and allows us to experience peace and healing. As we choose to forgive, we reflect Christ’s love and grace, preventing bitterness from taking root in our hearts.

Colossians 3:13-14

Ah spring. The time when the world awakens to the gentle embrace of renewal in nature. And also a time for reconciliation and renewal in our own relationships. When we can release the burdens of past hurts and grievances, bearing with one another in love. Forgiveness, like the fresh buds of spring, blossoms from hearts softened by the understanding of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness towards us. As we extend grace to others, we mirror the grace we’ve received from the Lord. So may we all let the peace of Christ reign supreme in our hearts, like the tranquility that settles over a fresh spring morning. And in the warmth of His love, may our hearts be filled with a sense of harmony and unity. One that overcomes differences and fosters bonds of mutual respect and understanding. As the beauty of spring unfolds around us, let it serve as a reminder of the transformative power of love and forgiveness, guiding us towards reconciliation and renewal in every aspect of our lives.

April 10th – 2 Colossians 2:6-7

2 Colossians 2:6-7

Just as sturdy trees anchor themselves with deep roots to weather the fiercest storms, let us root ourselves in the unwavering foundation of Christ. In Colossians the apostle Paul uses the example of rooted trees to urge us to be firmly rooted and built up in Jesus, who is our foundation against life’s trials and tribulations. Because as we nurture our faith, like the roots of a mighty tree, we will find ourselves strengthened by God’s grace, and unwavering in our commitment to His teachings. And as our roots dig deeper into the richness of His word and love, we’ll have everything we need to withstand whatever this world and the Enemy throws our way. So with each passing day, may our connection to Christ deepen, and may our trust in His promises be unbreakable. Like branches stretching towards the sun, may our hearts reach out in gratitude, abounding in thanksgiving for the blessings He bestows upon us. Rooted in Christ, let us grow in His likeness, spreading His love and compassion to all who cross our path.

October 13th – Colossians 3:17

Colossians 3:17

The apostle Paul encourages us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. This means aligning our thoughts, actions, and decisions with the teachings and example of Christ. Approaching all we do with an attitude of love, humility, and devotion to Him. Every aspect of our existence, from our words and actions to our thoughts and deeds, should be a testament to God’s goodness and blessings. By recognizing His lordship in our lives, we strive to bring honor and glory to Jesus in everything we do. It also means that our actions should reflect His character of compassion, forgiveness, and grace. Ultimately, doing everything in the name of Jesus is an invitation to live a life that emulates His love and reflects His teachings. It’s creating a positive impact on the world and contributing to the advancement of God’s kingdom. Because even in the smallest of actions, we have the opportunity to express gratitude and reflect God’s abundant love.

September 26th – Colossians 3:15

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

In a world where everyone is busy and not finding enough hours in the day, peace is what we crave. Jesus offers such peace. And His peace is vital because it serves as a divine compass in our lives. In times of confusion, the peace of Christ brings clarity, calms our anxieties, and guides us toward decisions and actions that align with God’s will. By letting this peace be our guide, we cultivate harmony in our relationships. We experience inner serenity and walk in the path of God’s purpose for our lives. With gratitude in our hearts, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the blessings in our lives and for God’s role in them. Moreover, we are urged to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, guiding our thoughts, actions, and worship. Whether in our daily interactions or in the moments of solitude, these verses remind us that living a Christ-centered life involves a deliberate and continual practice of gratitude, peace, and devotion. Ultimately allowing the name of the Lord to be glorified in all we do.
