Creation

November 4th – Psalm 103:22

Psalm 103:22

The other day, I watched in delight as a little girl at the park twirled with delight. Her arms were stretched wide as leaves fluttered around her. She wasn’t performing, planning, or striving, she was simply being. And her joy was contagious, feeling like pure worship. Psalm 103:22 tells us, “Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion.” And in that moment, I remembered that we too are part of God’s creation. Made to bless Him not just in church or quiet prayer time, but in ordinary moments. To bless God in our laughter, in our perseverance, in our acts of love, and even in our tears. Creation blesses God by reflecting His beauty, and so do we. When we choose gratitude over grumbling, trust over fear, and praise over despair. When we pause in the middle of a busy day to whisper, “Thank You, Lord,” we join the mountains, oceans, and yes, twirling children, in worship. So today, let’s lift our hearts with all creation and bless His holy name. Not perfectly, but intentionally, joyfully, and with a spirit that remembers He is worthy of all our praise.

Prayer prompt: Lord, help me bless You today in my words, my thoughts, and my actions. Show me a simple way to reflect Your goodness and joy so that my life brings honor to You in every season.

June 10th – Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16:11

A.W. Tozer once said, “Nothing in or of this world measures up to the simple pleasure of experiencing the presence of God.” There is great joy to be found in the Lord’s love and guidance, which renews our spirit and uplifts our hearts. To experience this joy we can engage in daily practices such as prayer, which allows us to communicate with God and draw near to Him. Worship, through singing and praise, connects our hearts to God’s greatness and goodness. Reading the Bible helps us understand His will and promises, bringing His presence into our lives. Fellowship with other believers can also enhance our sense of God’s presence, as we encourage and support each other in faith. Spending time in nature, admiring God’s creation, can remind us of His majesty and nearness. And practicing gratitude daily shifts our focus to God’s blessings, fostering a joyful heart. By incorporating these practices, we cultivate a continual awareness of God’s presence, allowing His joy to fill and sustain us through every circumstance.

April 23rd – Matthew 24:44

Matthew 24:44

As spring ushers in a season of renewal and growth, it also serves as a beautiful reminder of the Lord’s soon return. And in the same way the earth prepares itself for the changing of the seasons, so too should we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Savior. Like the snow melting away and the air turning warmer, may we discern the signs of the times. Because as surely as the earth is renewed, so too shall God’s kingdom be established. So as the buds of spring unfurl and the days grow longer, let us be vigilant and watchful. Eagerly awaiting the glorious day when Christ will come again. And as we witness the beauty of creation bursting forth, may it stir within us a deep longing. An ache for the day when we shall behold the face of our beloved Savior. Let our hearts rejoice in the Lord’s coming knowing that He who promised is faithful. And His return will bring an end to sorrow and usher in an eternity of joy and peace. So while we marvel at the beauty of spring, may it serve as a reminder of the even greater beauty that awaits us in the presence of the Lord.

April 8th – Mark 13:24

Mark 13:24

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming eclipse, there’s an electrifying energy in the air. People from around the country are flocking to the areas fortunate enough to witness this celestial spectacle. Mark 13:24 speaks of signs in the heavens heralding significant events, and the eclipse serves as a powerful reminder of these prophetic passages. In the midst of darkness, there’s a sense of wonder and awe as the moon obscures the sun, casting a shadow upon the earth. It’s a moment to pause and ponder the grandeur of creation and our place within it. People gather, their eyes fixed on the sky, pondering the deeper significance of this natural phenomenon. There’s also a quiet contemplation, as we reflect on the fragility of our existence and the mysteries of the universe. As the eclipse passes and daylight returns, we’re left with a sense of both anticipation and reverence. We’re reminded of the closeness of the Lord’s return and the Bible verses that foretell of the signs leading to both the rapture and the tribulation.

April 6th – Psalm 96:12-13

Psalm 96:12-13

Martin Luther once said, “Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” Nature sings of God’s glory and majesty, from the tallest mountains to the depths of the seas, filling our hearts with awe and wonder. With each sunrise and sunset, with every rustle of the leaves and chirp of the birds, creation proclaims the greatness of our Creator. Let us join creation’s chorus, lifting our voices in harmony with the wind, the waves, and the whispering trees. For He who formed the heavens and the earth deserves all honor and praise. As the rivers flow and the flowers bloom, let us be reminded of God’s faithfulness and love that never fades. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, let us declare His wonders to the nations, sharing the gladness of His salvation. For in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy, and in His light, we find true peace. So let us make music, rejoice, and be glad, for the Lord reigns over all the earth, now and forevermore.

October 2nd – Psalm 104:10-15

Psalm 104:10-15

Everywhere we look, we can see the hand of a loving and caring Creator. And with all He creates, especially us, God shows just how deep that love and care go. Because not only does our Heavenly Father meet our basic needs, but He also blesses us with beauty, variety, and abundance. His generosity knows no bounds. And our hearts should overflow with gratitude at all God gives to us both material and spiritual. For on our own, we are worthy of nothing except death. Yet just as God provides for the animals and the earth, He also cares for our needs and desires. And He encourages us to be responsible stewards of the resources and blessings He has granted us. To manage those gifts in a way that honors Him, benefits others, and furthers His kingdom. A responsibility which reflects our love and obedience to God. And in acknowledging His abundance, we can find contentment, share with others generously, and find deep joy in recognizing the Creator’s lavish blessings that surround us.

October 1st – Genesis 1:29-31

Genesis 1:29-31

I just love this time of year. The crispness in the air, the colder nights, and the beauty surrounding us as the season changes to Autumn. And as nature prepares to settle for winter, we are reminded of the the incredible extent of God’s provision. Carefully, thoughtfully, and with painstaking detail, He designed our world to overflow with abundance and sustenance. God, in His infinite wisdom and grace, provided a bounty of plants and fruits that are not only nourishing but also delightful to the senses. From the lush forests to the fertile fields, God’s provision is evident in throughout the earth. We can’t help but marvel at His wisdom and be filled with gratitude for all He has graciously provided. And God declaring that His creation was “very good” shows how deeply He  values everything He created. As stewards of this magnificent creation, we bear the responsibility to care for and honor the wondrous gift that is the world around us. Because it reflects the Creator’s glory and wisdom in every detail.

September 20th – Psalm 104:31

Psalm 104:31

May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in His works”

I love to cook. From the selecting of the recipe to the finished product, each step along the way brings joy to my heart. And I’m always filled with a sense of pride when a dish brings praise from family and friends. God is the great Creator. And David sings praises to Him, His greatness, and His control of and power over all He has created. Our work here on earth is meant to fulfill God’s creative intent. To bring each person into relationship with other people, with God, and to glorify Him. Out of His great love, God uses His power to provide for all of our needs. But it’s our job to use what He gives us to build further. All of God’s creatures look to Him for food, and while He responds by opening His hand to supply it, we still have to work hard to process and use God’s good gifts. He gives us the plants, but it’s up to us to gather and use the plants. God has done his work perfectly.  By His grace He has placed us in this beautiful world which He created.  If we work humbly in the strength He supplies, our work of cultivating the earth will be perfected.

September 18th – Job 36:14-16

Job 37:14-16

Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash? Do you know how the clouds hang poised those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?”

Between satellites, super powered telescopes, and exploratory spacecraft, science has gathered much information about our universe. Yet as Job’s friends pointed out, only God has perfect knowledge. So how could the awe inspiring nature of the universe and our limited understanding not humbles us? For there are aspects of God’s creation and His ways that are far beyond our comprehension. This humility in turn leads to a deeper appreciation of the Lord’s mysteries. And a recognition of our dependence on the wisdom and protection of God. It also inspires a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around us. Just as Job was encouraged to consider God’s wonders, we also should marvel at the awesomeness of creation. From the complexity of the natural world to the marvels of science and technology. Because by doing so, we can cultivate a deeper reverence for God. And a greater appreciation for the beauty and order that surrounds us.

March 19th – 2 Timothy 3:16

2 Timothy 3:16

Many are the ways and forms in which God sends us help, and one of the most powerful is His Word. And what a blessing is the Bible. No wonder it’s the best selling book of all time! For it contains the history of creation, the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the wonderful promises of God. Beyond that the Bible is also a blueprint for life, giving us valuable advice and practical applications for any and all situations. And when we follow it’s wisdom we can’t go wrong. For far from being a book written by man, every word is divinely inspired by God Himself. And it’s benefits include life teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. If we want to deepen our faith and relationship with the Lord, spend time in His Word. Because not only will it help us live according to God’s will, it helps us understand God’s plan for our lives.
