Enemy Attacks

September 25th -1 John 5:14-15

1 John 5:14-15

We as Christians are in a battle for our very souls. The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12 that there is a great spiritual war waging around us even as we speak. As such, we are commanded to be courageous warriors in God’s army. Soldiers armed against the Enemy’s attacks, and at the ready with our spiritual weapons. And some of the greatest ammunition we have is prayer. Prayer is an unbreakable bond between us and God. There is no special formula, ritual, or words that have to be said. All God wants is for us to come to Him in complete and humble faith. Through the blood of Jesus Christ we have unlimited access to the Father and His throne. And He wants to hear from us! James 4:2 tells us we don’t have, because we don’t ask. So today I challenge you to ask! Go to God in prayer. Give to Him your heart and all it holds. And have unshakable faith that if it is His will, He will see it done!

September 10th – Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8

The attacks of the Enemy have been coming at me fast and furious. Each day he’s been putting to the test my thoughts, tongue, and actions. And although some days I pass that test with flying colors, more often than not I fail miserably. But you know what? I don’t have to fear, because it doesn’t matter to God. His love for me isn’t based on anything I do but on everything He does. Whether I succeed or fail, God’s love never waivers! So when I’m feeling particularly discouraged, I read the words of Paul who tells me, “Newsflash! God knows your failings and loves you anyway!” The Lord knew from the beginning how we would rebel, reject, and disappoint Him. And so what did God do? Far from doling out the punishment of death we all deserve, He gives to us the precious gift of His unmerited grace and mercy. Sparing no expense, not even His only begotten Son, God Himself provides the path of reconciliation to Him, declaring us justified through faith in Jesus!

July 24th – 1 Corinthians 16:13

1 Corinthians 16:13

In closing his letter to the Corinthians, Paul gives some sage advice to all believers. Be on the alert, stand firm, grow up, and be strong. Why? Because the freedom we enjoy through Jesus can quickly be snatched away if we aren’t on guard. Awareness of what’s going on around us keeps us from slipping back into bondage. And keeping a watchful eye on ourselves, our families, and our world, protects us from the tricks of the Enemy. Next Paul tells us to stand firm in our faith. Spending time with God and in His Word gives us everything we need to arm ourselves against false teachers and false doctrines. It also keeps us growing and maturing in our spiritual walk with the Lord. Finally, Paul says to be strong. And we stand the strongest when we give our weakness to God. Through Him we can overcome any temptation, any attack, and any deception!

May 3rd – Galatians 5:16

Galatians 5:16

Human nature comes with its share of frailties, both physically and morally. And with Satan ruling this world, the pull of a fleshly life is strong. But when we abide in Jesus, the Holy Spirit is always working in our lives. He tears down the strongholds of sin, and builds up a fortress of protection around our hearts. A refuge we can run to when facing the Tempter. The Lord knows we are weak and under attack daily. But if we keep our eyes on Him, trust in His Word, and follow His guidance, we can withstand any temptation.
