For we serve a God who loves to bless exceedingly those who abide in Him in faithful obedience. The Lord wants us to come to Him in prayer with all of our needs. God doesn’t use an assembly line where He rubber stamps His creations. Instead, each of us are a one of a kind piece of art, fearfully and wonderfully handcrafted by God Himself. (Ps. 139:14) From the number of hairs on our heads, to the things we are made to accomplish, the Lord painstakingly oversaw every detail of who He created us to be. But we can only fulfill the good works of God by abiding in Him. For it is through absolute surrender that we are able to accomplish our individual purpose and lead lives for God’s glory.

When we think of Jesus hanging nailed to the Cross, our hearts break at the torture He suffered. But in actuality, the Cross is Jesus’ greatest triumph. For it was there that the debt we owed was paid, and death was forever conquered. And because of the richness of His grace, we are redeemed, called righteous, and become adopted heirs in God’s family. Our sins are blotted out, we are called beloved, and no do we longer face the penalty of our transgressions. Now, through the love of Jesus, we are freed from being slaves to the world and its wickedness.

Ephesians 4:23

Once we lived with fleshly spirits, hostile to and separated from God. But when we receive Jesus as our Savior, a wonderful thing begins to happen. The Holy Spirit comes to indwell us and gets to work producing change. Now, because of that change, no longer do we have hearts that crave worldly things. Instead we set our hearts and minds on the things of God. And that’s why it’s so important to spend time with Him daily in His Word. For the Bible contains all we need to produce a joyful, thankful, continuing renewal of our spirits.

Ephesians 2:4-5

Once we were eternally separated from God, dead in our sin. But because of His great love, God refused to leave us there. So He sent His only Son, Jesus, to become our sin payment. Now because of His sacrificial death, when we receive Christ as our Savior, we once again come to life. It is only through the blood of the Son, that we are once again reconciled to the Father, welcomed into His loving arms, and can look forward to an eternity spent at His side. A gift that we cannot earn, but because of God’s grace, is offered to us freely and lovingly.

Our goal as Christians should be to use every day and it’s experiences to become more like Jesus. That means with each new morning, we need to let go of our sinful, worldly, desires and behaviors. We do this by praying that God will strip away the old and give us new hearts and new natures focused on leading lives for His glory. The Christian walk isn’t a sprint, but rather a marathon. An ongoing renewal of our minds and lives. And like Paul, we need to work hand in hand with the Holy Spirit to transform us into mirror images of Christ.
