Week 4 – Wisdom In Perseverance (Galatians 6:9)

It can be incredibly frustrating to constantly strive to live a godly life. To make wise decisions and do the right thing, only to face hardship and struggle. Even more disheartening is watching the wicked prosper while we endure trials. But Paul reminds us to not grow weary in doing good for in due time, we’ll reap a harvest. An abundant reward given by God for those who don’t give up. Florence Nightingale served God faithfully throughout her life, dedicating herself to nurse the sick and wounded. Even in her later years, confined to her bed, she continued her work through letters and advocacy. She never wavered in her commitment to serve others for God’s glory until her death. Though the rewards may not always be immediate or visible, God’s promises are certain. The struggles we face now are temporary compared to the eternal glory awaiting those who faithfully persevere. When we remain steadfast trusting God’s perfect timing, we find that the reward He has in store is far more glorious than anything we could imagine.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we remain patient and steadfast in doing good, even when we don’t immediately see the results or rewards in our lives?
  1. In what ways can we choose faith over frustration when we feel discouraged by the success of the wicked while we struggle?

Keep planting seeds of goodness, for in God’s perfect timing, your harvest will be more abundant than you can imagine. 🙏🏻❤️

Week 3 – Embracing Renewal (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

In today’s world, billions of dollars are spent each year on trying to stop the aging process. People plump, cut, and stuff their bodies, all in the hopes of looking younger and defying the inevitable march of time. While society views youth as a treasure, Scripture reminds us that aging is actually a privilege. A testament to the gift of every day that God grants us. With each wrinkle and grey hair, we are reminded of the life we’ve lived and the wisdom we’ve gained. Yet, there’s no denying that aging can be hard. Muscles weaken, eyesight dims, and our bodies gradually lose the vitality they once had. But even as our outer selves waste away, something far more significant is happening within us. Inwardly, we are being renewed day by day for an eternal glory that far outweighs the physical decline we experience. Though our bodies may age, our spirits are being shaped and refined for something much greater. A true beauty perfected by the Lord for all eternity.

Questions For Reflection –

  1. How can we shift our focus from the temporary challenges of aging and physical decline to the eternal renewal of our inner selves, as described in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18?
  1. In what ways can we embrace the process of aging as an opportunity to deepen our faith and prepare for the eternal glory that God is working in us, rather than solely focusing on preserving our outward appearance?

Our wrinkles may tell the story of time, but our hearts are being renewed daily for eternity. 🙏🏻❤️

2 Corinthians 4:17

The apostle Paul and his fellow Christians suffered many hardships and difficulties in their ministry. They knew firsthand the cost of following Jesus and spreading the Good News. And although John acknowledges that trials can be painful to endure, he reminds us they only last but a moment. And so he councils us during times of difficulties to focus on the eternal perspective. For these troubles are temporary and are ultimately leading to a greater reward in heaven. Likewise, no matter what we suffer it’s minor compared to the eternal glory awaiting us. So as hard as it may be, Paul urges us to see our sufferings in light of the bigger picture. And to persevere through them knowing that they are not in vain. Most of all Paul wants us to trust that even in the midst of trials and hardships, we can find hope and comfort in the knowledge that God is working all things together for our good and for His glory.

1 Peter 4:14

It’s hard to consider suffering a blessing. But for the Christian, suffering is God’s “refining fire”. A fire that burns away the impurities of our flesh nature, producing in us a new nature. One reflective of the purity of Christ. Those who suffer on behalf of Christ do so because they have a unique perspective.  They are focused on the eternal instead of the temporal, they value God’s opinion more than the opinion of mere man. And they know that if God allows suffering, it is to serve the higher purpose of His will. God promises that such suffering has eternal merit and reward.

If we are submissive to His will, God will give us the strength and resources to endure whatever circumstances He allows into our lives. He wants us to trust even when we don’t understand and challenges push us to our utter limits. To depend completely on Him and trust that He has a higher purpose. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.  (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
