Faithfulness

October 20th – Psalm 40:14-15

Psalm 50:14-15

With the war in Israel and the unrest in the Middle East, people are scared. But for those who know Christ as their Savior, we can not only find peace in these troubled times, but joy. For we serve a God of abundance. One who generously blesses us and showers us with His boundless grace. So in good times and bad, we can be filled with gratitude for the goodness and protection of God. Thanking God in hard times is not just about the present moment. It’s about cultivating a mindset of hope, resilience, and trust, even when the storm rages. A reminder that gratitude is an act of worship. And a way to honor God’s faithfulness. For He is always faithful. Even when we are not. When we call upon the name of the Lord with a heart full of thanksgiving, our relationship with God deepens. Our trust and dependence upon Him grows. We can find peace in all circumstances because God is near, ready to answer our call and bestow His blessings upon us. And He is always there to rescue us, His beloved children.

September 3rd – Genesis 8:22

Genesis 8:22

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

With all the extreme weather happening across the planet, climate change seems to be the issue of the day. And the Bible is very clear. We are called to be good steward’s of God’s creation. To cherish this beautiful planet He gave us to live upon. Yet no matter the weather conditions, we never need worry about the cycle of seasons ending. Because as Creator of all things, God has ordained the changing seasons as a constant rhythm of life. Many are the uncertainties we face. But we can find peace knowing whatever gets thrown at us, what remains unchanged is the reliability of the seasons. And just as the earth continues to rotate, bringing forth spring, summer, autumn, and winter, we can trust in God’s faithfulness in our own lives. For His promises are reliable. And His grace, love, and mercy as guaranteed as the changing cold to hot. This allows us to live with the assurance that God is always present. And always guiding us through the different seasons of our personal journeys.

July 25th – Proverbs 11:22

Proverbs 11:22

As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a beautiful women who lacks discretion.

If there ever was a man who knew about women, it was Solomon. 1 Kings 11:3 tells us, “He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines”. Talk about a harem! And from his experiences he knew he had no use for a women lacking discretion. As unflattering as this proverb is, it reiterates the message found throughout the Bible. God wants our beauty to radiate from within. Physical beauty is overrated. And those who count on their looks to get through life will be sorely disappointed when those same looks are lost to old age. Better instead to develop the characteristics that time can not erase. Sharon Hodde Miller described it this way it, “A woman’s beauty might open some doors for her, but it is her character that will be her ultimate success. Beauty may attract a man, but faithfulness and respect is what will enable her dating relationships, and ultimately marriage, to last.”  Because no matter how you patch it, paint it, or plump it, a pretty face can never hide an ugly soul.

July 8th – Proverbs 15:6

Proverbs 15:6

In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.”

As a teenager I remember watching the television program, “Lifestyles of the Rich and a famous.” Oh how I longed for such a life filled with glitz and glamour. Greed is a powerful desire. And if we aren’t careful, that desire can be the downfall of even the strongest Christian. Because the pull of wanting more can lead us to do things that we may end up regretting for a lifetime. That’s why it’s so important to lead a life of righteousness and integrity. Important to recognize that true wealth lies in a relationship with God.  And that the most precious treasures are the spiritual ones that come from living a Christ-centered life. Anything we get apart from God and through ill gotten gains maybe give us a moment of pleasure, but will always lead to destruction. But unlike worldly treasures that fade or can be lost, the treasures given to us by God are eternal and unchanging. They remind us of His unwavering faithfulness, abundant provision, and unconditional love for us. And more far more precious than any amount of gold.

July 4th – Proverbs 3:3

Proverbs 3:3

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

How many of us wear a Cross necklace to remember our Savior? Well Solomon tells us the necklace we should be wearing is one that says “Hesed”, meaning loving faithfulness. And not only should “Hesed” adorn our necks, but more importantly be tattooed upon our hearts. Why? As a reminder to prioritize love and faithfulness as guiding principles in all we do and say. Love compels us to show kindness, compassion, and empathy towards others. Faithfulness calls us to be trustworthy, reliable, and true to our word. Jesus is the perfect embodiment of loving faithfulness. And He serves as a beacon of hope and an example to follow. For the Lord reminds us of the boundless love of God and encourages us to extend that love and faithfulness to others. By imitating Jesus’ compassionate heart and unwavering commitment, we can become vessels of his love in a broken world. And take up His banner of spreading His message of hope, forgiveness, and redemption to a desperate world.

May 19th – Hebrews 4:16

Hebrews 4:16

When it comes to prayer, God isn’t looking for mealymouthed, wish washy, timid followers. He’s looking for strong, bold, prayer warriors. Those who know that because we are loved and accepted by God, we can come before Him anytime, anywhere, asking for anything, without fear or hesitation. But boldly coming before the Lord requires confidence, honesty, surrender, and persistence. Confidence means having unshakable faith and trust in God’s character and promises. Honesty means bringing our true selves before Him, without pretense or hiding. Surrender means knowing the Lord always knows best, seeking His guidance and direction above our own. And persistence means not giving up or being discouraged when we don’t see immediate answers or solutions. Being bold before God isn’t about being disrespectful or demanding. But reverence and humility, combined with confidence and trust in God’s goodness and faithfulness. And an invitation to approach Him with freedom, faith, and love.

March 27th – Deuteronomy 28:3

Deuteronomy 28:3

God doesn’t give us commands to feed His ego or to make us suffer. He loves us beyond measure and wants us to have the very best life. An abundant life that His Son sacrificed His life to give us. But the Lord will only bless us if we walk in faithful obedience to Him. And when we do, God promises those blessings will follow us no matter where we roam, or where we settle. Because God isn’t limited to specific areas or situations. His goodness and provision are available to us whenever and wherever we are, as long as we remain faithful to Him. In our obedience, we show our trust God’s wisdom and sovereignty over our lives. A trust which in turn leads to God’s very best blessings. Blessings including material prosperity, physical health, and spiritual growth.

August 8th – Proverbs 31:26

Proverbs 31:26

When asked to describe true beauty, author Mandy Hale wrote, “There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.” That’s who the Proverbs 31 woman is. Clothed in strength and dignity, her heart is completely surrendered to God. And from thankfulness for all of God’s blessings, sprouts a character worthy of her family’s praise. The words she speaks are useful for others to hear. They edify, encourage, and counsel, while sharing the teachings of the Lord. Her beauty comes from humility, kindness, and wisdom. She is faithful and good, with the glory of the Lord radiating through her. And the godly qualities she exhibits shine brightly and more brilliantly than the finest diamond! No wonder her family cries out, “Her worth is far above jewels!” (Prov. 31:10)

November 19th – Micah 7:18

Micah 7:18

There’s a quotes which says, “The ones who love you will never leave you. Even if there are a hundred reasons to give up, they will find one reason to hold on.” People, hurt, disappoint, and desert us. But there is One who loves us unconditionally, and no matter what will never leave nor forsake us. And that is God. Even though we fail Him daily, and give Him plenty of reasons to, God will ever give up on us. Never! Israel rebelled repeatedly against God. Yet even now, He hasn’t abandoned His chosen people. The prophet Micah took great hope in God’s forgiveness and grace. Knowing the Father would one day send His Son as Savior to the world, the prophet declares, “Who is a God like You?” Indeed, who is like our God? My heart cries out in thankfulness. For our Father, full of mercy and delighting in unchanging love, soon forgets His anger. And He is always there waiting to welcome us back into His loving arms.

November 3rd – Proverbs 3:6

Proverbs 3:6

I’ve always known God, and from an early age trusted Jesus as my Savior. But I still was always running in circles and going nowhere fast. I had no direction in life, made destructive choices, and wandered in darkness. And it was only when I was tired of being lost and broken that I truly gave it all to the Lord. Life is hard. I mean really hard. But thankfully, we don’t have to face it alone. Because we have a heavenly Father who is always reaching out a hand for His children to grasp. A hand that will lovingly guide, protect, and direct our steps perfectly on the path of life. When we acknowledge God by consulting Him with every decision and honoring Him in every area of our lives, He promises to lead our footsteps to victory. For me some days it’s still one step forward and two steps back. But I know that when I first seek God’s wisdom, I’ll never get lost. And that fills my heart with thankfulness!
