Fear

July 19th – Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6

Many people struggle with being control freaks, feeling an overwhelming need to manage every detail of their lives. This relentless pursuit of control often stems from fear, anxiety, and a lack of trust in anything beyond themselves. However, Proverbs 3:5-6 offers a profound truth for those who follow Jesus. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Trusting in God frees us from the burden of needing to control everything. When we place our faith in Him, we acknowledge that our understanding is limited and that His wisdom is infinitely greater. This act of surrender is liberating, allowing us to experience peace and assurance that God is in control. By submitting our plans and desires to Him, we align ourselves with His divine purpose and guidance. Instead of being consumed by the anxiety of uncertainty, we can rest in the knowledge that God is orchestrating every aspect of our lives for our good. Trusting in God transforms our perspective, freeing us from the chains of control. And it leads us on a path of faith, hope, and love.

2 Corinthians 3:17

A.W. Tozer once said, “When we have the Holy Spirit, we have all that is needed to be all that God desires us to be.” Once the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us, He brings with Him liberation from sin, guilt, and fear, allowing us to live with joy and purpose. How? By empowering us to break free from destructive habits and mindsets, replacing them with godly virtues. In our relationships, the Spirit fosters love, patience, and understanding. John 8:32

The truth of God’s Word is a powerful force that liberates us from the deception and lies of the Enemy. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we discover God’s character, promises, and the identity He gives us. This divine truth acts as a light that exposes deceit, false teachers, and wrong gospels. It helps us to recognize and reject the Enemy’s deceitful tactics designed to lead us away from the Lord. Lies about our worth, purpose, and God’s love are torn down by the truth of Scripture, which affirms our value, directs our path, and reassures us of God’s unwavering love. By embracing and living according to this truth, we break free from the chains of fear, doubt, and confusion that Satan seeks to impose. Philippians 4:6-7

Nothing smells better than the sweet perfume of spring in the air! The time when all of nature gives off the aroma of renewal and growth. So like the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers, let our prayers rise before God as a pleasing aroma. One that fills the heavens with the essence of our hearts’ desires. May we bring our requests to the Lord with thanksgiving, knowing that He hears and answers according to His perfect will. And may our spirits open up like an unfurled flower, waiting to receive the blessings God bestows upon us. With hearts filled with gratitude, let us lift our voices in prayer, surrendering our worries and fears into His capable hands. For in His presence, there is peace that surpasses all understanding. A peace that guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. As we abide in His love, may our prayers be a symphony of trust and hope, echoing throughout eternity. And as we await His response, may we rest assured in God’s faithfulness, knowing that He works all things together for our good.

March 28th – Luke 22:44

Luke 22:44

As we celebrate Christ, His death and resurrection, one of the most painful parts of the story is the Garden of Gethsemane. For it was there when the weight of all our Savior was about to endure overcame Him. Such was His anguish, that His soul was overwhelmed to the point of death. And falling upon His face, three times Jesus prayed that if possible, God would remove the cup from which He was to drink. There will be times when we will find ourselves face down in our own Garden of Gethsemane. When God permits suffering and we are pressed spiritually to the point of agony. It’s then when we need to follow the example of our Lord. First, in fervent prayer we are to cry out to our Abba, Father. Emptying before Him our hearts filled with fear and sorrow. And when His answer is for us to endure, we are to humbly submit before God saying, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Drinking the cup of suffering is never easy. But we need to trust that God’s plans are always best, and used for both our benefit and His glory.

February 19th – 1 John 4:18

1 John 4:18

While we know that God’s perfect love has the power to cast out all fear, that doesn’t mean we won’t have times of feeling afraid. And those times don’t make us bad Christians, or mean we’ve failed God. Instead, they mean that we’re human. And all fall short daily. But in those times when fear and doubt creep in, we can find comfort knowing despite our fears, God’s love remains steadfast. Ready and able to cast out even the darkest of shadows and bring us back to a place of peace and security. In His embrace, fear is powerless, its grip loosened by the unwavering assurance of His presence. For where His love resides, there is no room for fear to dwell. Because it’s eclipsed by the brilliance of His grace. With each heartbeat synchronized to the rhythm of His love, we are emboldened to face the trials of life with unwavering courage. For He who is Love itself, walks beside us. And in the radiance of His perfect love, we find refuge, our hearts emboldened to embrace the journey ahead with faith and fortitude.
