Proverbs 16:20

I love how simple this verse is, yet how much wisdom it holds. We live in a world that tells us to trust ourselves, follow our hearts, and figure things out on our own. But God’s Word reminds us that there is blessing in listening to His instruction and putting our trust in Him.

Trusting God isn’t always easy. Sometimes we want to know how everything is going to work out before we’re willing to take the next step. We want the answers, the plan, and reassurance that everything will be okay. But faith doesn’t work that way.

Trusting God means taking the next step even when we can’t see the whole road. It means listening to His Word when it goes against what we feel, and believing that His wisdom is greater than ours. Even when we don’t understand what He’s doing.

And I’ve learned that trusting God doesn’t mean life will always go the way I want it to. But it does means I don’t have to face whatever comes alone. So I will listen to His instruction. I will trust His heart, follow His lead, and leave the rest in His hands.

January 20th – Proverbs 16:9

Proverbs 16:9

We love to plan our days, don’t we? And in doing so, we look for something to guide our next step. Because it gives a false sense of control in believing we can predict what’s coming. Planning in itself isn’t wrong. For it can be wise and responsible. Yet sadly, some turn to horoscopes, spiritual voices, psychics, or even the weather for direction. But Proverbs 16:9 gently reminds us that while we make our plans, the Lord directs our steps. Our planned schedules may be full, but God alone sees the whole road ahead. And what we want to happen isn’t always what will shape us best. That’s why our plans must be held with humility. Laid before God with open hands. And most importantly of all, submitted in obedience to His will. Because no forecast can override His purpose. No voice carries more wisdom than His truth. No path is safer than the one He ordains. And there is no better place to be than resting fully in His hands.

Reflection Question:
Where in your life are you holding tightly to your own plans instead of humbly trusting God to direct your steps?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, I bring my plans, hopes, and expectations before You with open hands. Help me to trust You more than my own understanding and to follow where You lead, even when the path looks different than I imagined. Align my heart with Your will, and teach me to rest in the peace of knowing my steps are safely ordered by You.

May 5th – Psalm 23:1

Psalm 23:1

The Lord is our Shepherd. That means we don’t have to scramble, strive, or stress to keep life together. And where He leads, there’s no lack. Not because we always feel full, but because He is. Jesus doesn’t just toss breadcrumbs. He prepares a feast in barren places. That’s why it’s important to pray that God, would Shepherd our hearts. May He guide it when it wanders. Protect and guard it when it’s wounded. And calmly ground it when it races ahead. The Lord knows the path better than we do, and He never leads us into something without walking with us through it. So even when we don’t understand the journey, we can trust the Shepherd. He knows where the still waters are. He restores what this world drains out. His presence doesn’t promise a pain-free life, but it does promise we’ll never walk alone. We may not know what’s next, but we know Who’s leading. And that is more than enough.
