Fresh Start

January 1st – Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations 3:22-23

I can scarcely believe that we are here welcoming in 2026! The first morning of the New Year has arrived! It was welcomed with joyful celebrations as the calendar turned, making everything feel new again. As followers of Jesus, the fresh start means yesterday’s worries don’t have to follow us into today. Because God meets us here, right at the beginning, with fresh mercy. Not recycled grace or leftovers from last year, but brand new compassion poured out because He is faithful. The slate is wiped clean. And not because we earned it, but because God’s love never runs out. This morning we may wake up carrying stories, scars, and memories, of the year past, but we also carry hope. Hope that this year doesn’t have to look like the last one. Hope that God is already at work in ways we can’t yet see. This first morning reminds us that we don’t have to have it all figured out. We simply have to take the next step with Him. For His mercies greet us before the sun fully rises, steadying our hearts as we begin again. And with Him, this blank page becomes a place of promise, trust, and quiet faith for the days ahead. Happy New Year!

Reflection Question:
As you step into this new year, what is one worry, regret, or expectation from last year that you need to place into God’s hands and trust Him to renew with His mercy?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank You for meeting me on this first morning with fresh mercy. Help me release what is behind me and trust You with what lies ahead. Teach me to walk into this new year one step at a time, resting in Your faithfulness and grace. Amen.

May 1st – Isaiah 43:19

Isaiah 43:19

Sometimes life feels dry, like a wilderness with no clear path forward. But take heart. For God is the Master of new beginnings. He carves paths through the impossible, brings streams to dry places, and plants hope in the heart of every wilderness. Maybe this past season was heavy. Maybe you’ve walked through heartbreak, disappointment, or silence. But don’t lose heart. God is doing something new, even if you can’t see it yet. He is already at work beneath the surface, preparing something beautiful. May this new month be a fresh chapter. One filled with renewal, restoration, and the unexpected goodness of God. Let May be a reminder that no season is too far gone for God to breathe life into it. He’s the God of fresh starts and second chances. The One who writes redemption stories. So lift your eyes, open your heart, and step forward in faith. Something new is springing up, can you perceive it? Let May be the month you walk into it with joy.

August 11th – Lamentations 3:21-24

Week 2 – Finding Hope in God (Lamentations 3:21-24)

I love the quote, “The sun rises each morning to remind us that God’s mercies are new every day.” It’s easy to get discouraged when we’ve had a bad day, especially when we’ve fallen short before the Lord. Guilt and frustration can weigh heavy on our hearts, making us feel unworthy. But in those moments, we must remember that we serve a God of second, third, and fourth chances. He doesn’t get angry or wash His hands of us. Instead, God’s mercy is unending, and His love never fails. Each day He offers us a fresh start and a new opportunity to do better than the day before. This is why we place our hope in Him instead of our own strength or ability, and in His great faithfulness. No matter how many times we stumble, God’s compassion is always there to lift us up and give us another chance. With each new morning we can confidently face the day, knowing that His mercies are renewed and His grace is sufficient for whatever challenges we encounter.

  1. How can we remind ourselves daily of God’s renewed mercies, allowing His compassion to lift us up and give us hope, especially after we’ve had a difficult day or fallen short?
  1. In what ways can we embrace each new day as a fresh start, focusing on God’s faithfulness and striving to do better with the grace He continually provides?

Each morning brings new mercies, a fresh start wrapped in God’s love. 🙏🏻❤️

Lamentations 3:22-23

We serve a God of second chances. Meaning no matter what happened the day before, with the dawn of each morning comes a fresh start and a source of enduring hope. Because from His endless grace, God offers His love anew each morning. In the midst of life’s challenges and trials, God’s promise of love serves as a beacon of light, reminding us of the unwavering faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. January 16th – 1 John 4:18

1 John 4:18

Change isn’t easy. And facing the unknown is scary. But perfect love, as described in 1 John 4:18, acts as a shield against the fear of change. Because when we’re rooted in God’s unwavering love, we have all we need to embrace new beginnings without the anxiety that change often brings. With fear cast out, we have the courage needed for our journey of renewal and fresh starts. If each morning we surrender our day to God, we can embrace the freshness of the day without being stuck by the shackles of fear. And in the beauty of God’s perfect love, the prospect of a new beginning becomes not just a possibility but a reality to be embraced with faith and assurance. So as we step into uncharted territory, we can do so confidently. Because our path is illuminated by the radiant light of God’s perfect love, giving us the courage of a transformed and hopeful tomorrow. January 15th – Joshua 6:20

Joshua 6:20

We often build walls of self defense that we believe offer us a place safety. But ironically, they can become the very barriers that hinder our growth and progress. Embracing change and moving forward requires the courage to tear down these self-imposed walls, allowing us to step into the limitless possibilities of new beginnings. That’s why I love the story of Jericho and it’s fall. Their defensive walls crumbled at the sound of the Israelites’ obedience to God’s command. This powerful narrative resonates with the assurance that God, in His might, can tear down the seemingly insurmountable walls that hinder our progress. Just as the walls of Jericho fell, God stands ready to demolish the barriers in our lives that block our journey toward new beginnings. This verse embodies the transformative power of faith and obedience. For it reminds us that with God on our side, even the strongest wall will crumble. Paving the way for a fresh start and a future shaped by His divine plan.

June 24th – Isaiah 53:5

Isaiah 53:5

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”

One of the greatest ways God heals us is with His forgiveness. God’s forgiveness is a balm for the wounded soul. And a source of healing and restoration that surpasses all human understanding. When we come before Him with a repentant heart, confessing our sins and seeking His mercy, God extends His loving forgiveness to us. In His boundless grace, He wipes away the stains of our past, erasing the guilt and shame that weigh us down. The chains of sin are broken, and we experience a fresh start and a new identity in Christ. God’s forgiveness brings healing to our brokenness, filling the void within us with His unconditional love. And as we experience the depth of God’s forgiveness, our souls find solace and peace. Empowering us to extend that same forgiveness to others. Most wonderfully of all, through God’s forgiveness, we discover the transformative power that brings wholeness, and restores our soul to its intended purpose. A purpose rooted in God’s divine love and grace.
