Future

June 16th – Romans 5:1

Romans 5:1

How wonderfully freeing it is to know we are made right with God through our belief in Jesus Christ, not by our own efforts. Like a weight being lifted from our shoulders, this justification brings us great peace. It transforms our relationship with God from one of distance, to intimate harmony. To be justified by faith is to trust fully in God’s grace and the redemptive work of Christ, acknowledging that nothing we can do on our own can secure this reconciliation. It’s an assurance that despite our flaws, weaknesses, and mistakes, we are accepted and loved by our Heavenly Father. Giving us a deep and abiding peace. A peace which calms our anxieties and fears, rooting us in the certainty of God’s unwavering love and forgiveness. Through this justification, we experience freedom from the burden of guilt and the constant striving for perfection. Allowing us to rest in God’s grace. Justification by faith alone opens the door to a life of serenity, joy, and a secure future with God.

May 16th – 1 John 3:2-3

1 John 3:2-3

As followers of Jesus, we find our blessed assurance in the hope of His return. And although the future may be shrouded in mystery, we are confident that when Christ appears, we will be transformed to be like just like Him. How exciting and humbling it is to wonder what our new name will be, how we will look, and where we will dwell in His glorious kingdom and presence. Therefore let us purify ourselves just as the Lord is pure, as we eagerly await His coming. May our hearts overflow with anticipation and joy, knowing that the day will come when we shall see Him face to face. With each passing moment let us draw nearer to Him, embracing the sanctifying work of His Spirit within us. With eager anticipation and overflowing joy, let us prepare ourselves for that glorious day when we will dwell with our Lord forever. April 3rd – Romans 15:13

Romans 15:13

As the gentle touch of spring caresses the earth turning buds into beautiful blossoms, we are reminded of the unfurling hope we have in Christ. And just as flowers bloom with vibrant colors, so too does our faith bloom under the nurturing hand of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the midst of life’s uncertainties, His promise of joy and peace resonates within our hearts, like a melody that soothes the soul. Through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, may we abound in hope, knowing that our God is steadfast and faithful. Like the flowers turn their face to the sun, reaching for its warmth, let us lift our eyes to the One who holds our future in His hands. With each passing day, may our trust in His providence deepen, and our confidence in His promises grow stronger. And during times of trials and challenges, may the fragrance of hope permeate our lives, guiding us through the darkest valleys and illuminating the path ahead. As spring blossoms adorn the landscape with beauty, may our lives reflect the beauty of Christ’s love, shining brightly for all to see.

November 22nd – Proverbs 23:18

Proverbs 23:18

When we’re in the midst of a storm it can be hard to see past the black clouds to the clear skies ahead. But that’s what Solomon encourages us to do. To look beyond our present circumstances, believe in the promises of God, and know that the trial we’re facing isn’t the final chapter. For we serve an omniscient God. One who sees the storm from beginning to end, and walks beside us through every one. This gives us the hope and endurance we need to keep moving forward. To focus on the wonderful future shaped by God’s faithfulness. By trusting in His plans, we build a foundation for enduring challenges with resilience. For our hope is anchored in something greater than momentary trials. And we can approach challenges with a steadfast belief that God’s purposes will prevail. Filling us with a peace beyond human comprehension. (Phil. 4:7) And one that inspires an enduring hope that transcends the ebb and flow of life, and leads to a triumphant future.

July 6th – Proverbs 27:1

Proverbs 27:1

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”

I’m a list maker. I love to sit down with a cup of hot coffee and make a list of things I need to do for the day. My lists keep me organized. And I get a small feeling of accomplishment as I cross off each task at its completion. Yet most days the list I start with gets thrown out the window. Because in this world things happen, plans change, and problems occur. No wonder Robert Burns famously said, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” That’s why Solomon encourages us to approach each day with humility. Recognizing that our plans and aspirations may be subject to change at any moment. Each day we get is a gift from God, and our lives are subject to His will alone. So while we can make plans, we should also be open to God’s redirection and trust in His ultimate purpose for our lives. As Christians we need to make plans with the understanding that God is control of the future. All we need do is remain receptive to His leading and guidance throughout out journey.

May 12th – Isaiah 65:17

Isaiah 65:17

When my Grandma was diagnosed with dementia, it was painful to watch as she tried to hold on to precious memories. Memories can be both a blessing and a curse. Some fill our hearts with joy while others bring tears to our eyes. One day God promises to create a new heaven and a new earth. And in this new reality, the painful experiences and memories of the past will no longer have any power over us. The memories that we cherish will still remain. But all things, including memories, that brought us pain and suffering will be no more. Instead we will dwell with the Lord forever in an eternity filled with joy, peace, and harmony. And our old way of thinking and behaving will be left behind. Because of His great love and mercy, God offers us a clean slate and a fresh start. One where past mistakes and wrongdoings can be forgotten and forgiven, allowing for a new future. A future that is free from the pains and sorrows of the past and filled with the blessings of His grace and love.

May 3rd – Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11

Throughout the Bible God explicitly forbids seeking physics, mediums, astrologists, and fortune tellers of all sorts. (Duet. 18:10-12, Lev. 19:31, 20:6, 2 Kings 23:24) But today the business of witchcraft is a multi billion dollar one. Because everyone has questions needing answers and a future needing to be told. Even Christians fall prey to the sin of trusting others who tell you what you want to hear, instead of trusting God. The Israelites learned the hard way all that glitters isn’t gold. They desperately wanted to believe the false prophets and mediums in Babylon. Those who promised the people would soon be back in their own land. But God was very clear. Only He controls the future. And only He can can guarantee one of hope, goodness, love, and prosperity. How could there be a more wonderful future! And because of God’s unending grace and mercy, to get it all we need do is confess Jesus as Lord and receive His gift of pardon.

January 23rd – Matthew 6:34

Matthew 6:34

The lyrics to one of my favorite songs go, “One day at a time, sweet Jesus. That’s all I’m asking from You. Just give me the strength to do everyday, what I have to do.” Every day is filled with its own unique challenges and circumstances. And Jesus wants us to focus on each one as it comes without worry for the future. Why? Because the Lord knows that worry causes needless fear and anxiety. Needless because no matter what tomorrow brings, God is already there. He’s there, in control, and working His plans for our good. Our focus should be on the day at hand. And trusting in God every moment of every day to supply all we need to get through it in victory. Now that doesn’t mean we don’t plan for the future. But what it does mean is that we shouldn’t let the worry about that future rob us of the joy from God’s gift of today.

February 27th – 1 Corinthians 2:9

1 Corinthians 2:9

As fallen beings, we are barely able to comprehend all God has in store for us. For we know His ways and thoughts are higher than we could ever comprehend. But in His mercy, God sent the Holy Spirit to indwell all who receive Jesus as their Savior. And through the Spirit, God reveals to us Himself, His plans, and the great depths of His love. A love unequalled, and one that brings to us all of God’s promises, blessings, and peace. For God loves to reward generously, and beyond imagining, all whom He calls His own!

Proverbs 23:18

The beginning of each new year is supposed to be filled with hope and excitement for the new months to come. But what if it’s not? For many people there isn’t much hope or joy to be found in the world today. And sadly, it’s hard to argue otherwise. But thankfully, as followers of Jesus, we can have a hope and excitement the world can never take away. For we know our future. It is one filled with an eternity of joy, and peace spent in the presence of God. And as the days grow closer to the Lord’s return, we can hearts overflowing with hope and excitement at the certainty of the awesome future ahead!
