2 Corinthians 9:8

God tells us that He blesses us so we can be a blessing to others. But have you ever held back on giving? Whether it’s money, time, or resources, were you afraid you wouldn’t have enough for yourself? Have the thoughts, “What if I need this later? What if I give too much and come up short?”, ever crept in? When God asks us to give, He wants our giving to come not from a place of fear, but from a place of trust. Because when we hold on tightly to what we have, we miss the chance to see God’s abundant provision in action. For He is not a God of just barely enough, He is a God of overflowing abundance. And the more we trust Him with our giving, the more He shows up in ways we never expected. Maybe it’s through an unexpected blessing, a need being met in a way only He could orchestrate, or simply the joy of knowing we were part of His work. When we give freely, we aren’t losing, we’re sowing into something greater. And God promises to provide all we need. So let’s not be stingy out of fear, but generous out of faith, knowing our God will always take care of us.

1 Kings 17:16

I can only imagine how the poor widow must have felt when she encountered Elijah. Not only did he ask her for a drink he also asked the unthinkable. To take the precious last of her flour and oil to make him bread. She was down to nothing, barely holding on, trying to feed her starving son. Every instinct must have told her to cling tightly to what little she had left. And yet, she obeyed. She trusted. And because of that, God took her little and turned it into more than enough. Isn’t that just like Him? How often does He ask us to let go of something when we feel like we have nothing left to give? Maybe it’s our time, our resources, our trust. It’s scary, because we only see what’s in front of us. But God sees beyond. He sees the provision, the blessing, and the abundance waiting on the other side of our obedience. If we hold on too tightly, we miss out on the miracle. But if we trust Him, He will take what little we have and multiply it beyond anything we could have imagined. He did it for the widow, and He promises to do the same for us.

Matthew 6:31-33

We’re living in some pretty tough times. The cost of living is soaring. Many are struggling, trying to stretch every penny, living paycheck to paycheck. And with no end in sight, no wonder so many of us are suffering with worry and anxiety. But Jesus tells us not to be consumed by these concerns because God already knows what we need. He isn’t unaware of our struggles, nor is He indifferent to them. That’s why He tells us to come to Him first. To seek the Lord before our anxiety and before our scrambling to fix things on our own. Because when we do, we’ll see that He never fails to provide. Maybe not always in the way we expect, but always in the way we need. Are you struggling? Are you seeking God, or are you worrying about needs? Take a moment today to shift your focus. Instead of worrying about your own needs, pray for someone else’s. Trust that just as you lift them up, God is already at work in your life too. For He is faithful, He is our Provider, and He will never let His children go without what they truly need.

Exodus 16:4

Exodus 16:4 says, “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you.’” The Israelites were hungry, desperate, and unsure how they would survive in the wilderness. But God had a plan, they just didn’t see it yet. He provided for them in a way they never expected, sending manna from heaven, enough for each day. And isn’t that just how God works? I saw this firsthand with my son. After filling out countless job applications, facing rejection after rejection, he finally got a job. But it wasn’t the job he wanted, and honestly, it wasn’t what we had hoped for either. Still, we trusted that God was providing, even if it wasn’t how we imagined. And you know what? That job turned out to be even better than anything we could have asked for. It wasn’t our plan, it was God’s, and His plan was so much better. Sometimes we expect God to provide in a certain way, on our timeline, according to our expectations. But He sees what we don’t. He knows exactly what we need, and He shows up in ways that often surprise us. Just like the manna in the wilderness, His provision is always enough, always on time, and always better than we could have imagined.

Psalm 58:11

Life often feels like a dry and weary land, full of seasons where we feel empty, drained, and uncertain of the next step. But Psalm 58:11 reminds us that God doesn’t just guide us occasionally, He leads us always. Even in the hardest moments He knows the way, and He provides exactly what we need. When we feel weak, He strengthens us. When we feel empty, He fills us. His presence refreshes our souls, making us like a well-watered garden, full of life and purpose. When the circumstances of life leave us feeling parched, God’s  living water never runs dry. The world may leave us thirsty, but God is our endless source of peace, strength, and fulfillment. Our constant guide, He knows the way and we can trust Him completely. For as Corrie Ten Boom once said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” If we allow Him to lead, we will never walk alone or be without what we truly need. Psalm 32:8

Life can be so chaotic and stressful. Responsibilities, worries, and distractions pull us in all directions, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about which way to go. And with all the outside noise, it can be hard to hear God’s still, small voice. Which is exactly how the enemy wants it. If he can keep us busy, anxious, and distracted, he can keep us from hearing the very voice that leads us to peace, purpose, and truth. But Psalm 32:8 is a beautiful promise from God. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

How awesome is that! Instead of just giving us vague directions, God personally guides us. Lovingly, He walks with us, leading us step by step. His guidance isn’t rushed or chaotic; it’s steady, sure, and full of love. And because He’s showing us the path He created for us to follow, no matter how lost we feel, God knows exactly where we are and where He is leading us. When we take the time to be still, to tune out the distractions, and to seek Him, we will hear God’s voice. All we have to do is trust Him and follow. Week 4 – Wisdom in Facing Opposition (2 Timothy 2:24-25)

It’s easy to get swept up in anger when someone opposes our faith, beliefs, or feelings. In these moments frustration can rise, and our human nature might push us to respond harshly. But as followers of Jesus, we are called to a higher standard, as laid out by the apostle Paul. The Lord’s servant is to be gentle, patient, and kind, even when wronged. Instead of allowing anger to control us, we should respond with wisdom, showing grace and love in our words and actions. This doesn’t mean we shy away from truth, but we present it with the hope that God will work in the hearts of those who oppose us. Our goal is not to win arguments, but to lead others toward repentance and the knowledge of the truth. By staying calm and speaking kindly, we reflect Christ’s character and create opportunities for God to soften hardened hearts. It’s through this gentle approach that we can truly make an impact, trusting that God will open their eyes in His time.

Week 4 – Wisdom In Trials (James 1:2-4)

As parents, we understand the importance of guiding our children through the challenges and growing pains they face. We nurture them, knowing that the hard times will help them mature and become stronger. In the same way God, our Heavenly Father, guides us through the trials and tribulations that come our way. Because He knows the hard times help us to mature and refine our faith. James 1:2-4 reminds us that the purpose of the testing of our faith is to produce perseverance. Perseverance is needed to shape us into people of patience and wisdom. And just as we comfort and encourage our children, God walks with us through difficult times, using them to build our character and reliance on Him. Through these challenges, we learn endurance, and our faith grows, making us mature and complete, not lacking anything. Though trials are tough, they are a part of our spiritual development, just as life’s challenges are essential for our children’s growth.

  1. How can we shift our perspective to view challenges as opportunities for growth in our faith and character?

Week 4 – Wisdom Against Temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Every day, we face countless temptations. Everything from the subtle pull of envy, to the louder call of anger or greed. It’s a constant battle because temptation comes at us in many directions. Whether it’s from social media,  television or movies, relationships, or even in our own thoughts, the pull of sin is strong. But the apostle Paul reminds us of a powerful truth. God is faithful. He won’t allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear, and He always provides a way out. This gives us hope and confidence that no matter the temptation, we are not fighting alone. That’s why God equips us with wisdom to recognize temptation when it sneaks into our lives, helping us avoid it before it leads us down a destructive path. The wisdom He provides guides us to make better choices and to steer clear of situations that could lead us to sin. When we rely on God’s wisdom and strength, we can overcome temptation and live in a way that honors Him, knowing we have His support in every battle.

Week 3 – Wisdom In Witnessing (Matthew 10:16)

Just like He sent out His twelve apostles, Jesus calls us His followers, to go out and share His message. And also like the apostles, we are sheep among wolves. Sent to proclaim the life-saving Gospel in a world that often rejects both Christ and His message. The world may be hostile, but our mission is to carry His truth with wisdom and gentleness. We aren’t to meet hostility with hostility but with the love of Christ, being “wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” Wisdom helps us discern how to speak truth in challenging situations. Gentleness ensures that our message is delivered in love, reflecting the heart of Jesus. As the world hated and rejected Him, we too may face opposition. But we mustn’t be discouraged. Because it’s through our steadfast love, kindness, and wisdom that hearts may be softened to receive the Good News. Each of us is called to be a light in the darkness. To carefully navigate a world in need of hope and truth, while embodying Christ’s grace and love every step of the way.

  1. How can we balance being “wise as serpents” and “innocent as doves” when sharing our faith with those who may reject or criticize it
  1. In what ways can we practice discernment and wisdom in our daily interactions to remain faithful to Christ while still being gentle and compassionate?
