God’s Ambassadors

August 4th – Colossians 2:2

Colossians 2:2

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.”

In today’s world of division and polarization, Paul’s pleas for unity among Christians rings loud and clear. Because the unity of Christians, founded in love, serves as a powerful witness to the very transformative and healing nature of Christ’s love. God desires our hearts to be united in love because love is the very essence of His nature. Love fosters compassion, understanding, and empathy. And when our hearts are united in love, we transcend our differences, break down barriers, and build bridges of connection. United in love, we become instruments of peace and healing in a world desperately lacking both. And through our love, we reflect the unconditional and endless love of God for all creation. Moreover, a united heart in love enables us to lift each other up, support one another in times of need, and celebrate the joys of life together. By cultivating love and unity, we align ourselves with God’s divine plan for humanity, fostering a world where love is the guiding force in every action and decision.

July 24th – Proverbs 24:11

Proverbs 24:11

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

The Bible is very clear in warning us that our noses are better off kept in our own business. Yet there are times when we are called as Christians to speak up and speak out. Times when we see an atrocity, injustice, or abuse. It is then, we are told, to take action, especially in protecting the innocent. Which is why God also commissions us to go out and share the Gospel. For just as important as pulling someone from the path of a speeding car, so is sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Because it is a life saver to those walking the path of certain death and destruction. A transforming message, it brings hope to the hopeless, and delivers those trapped in darkness and despair. And although we aren’t responsible for another’s salvation, we are responsible to plant the seed of God’s saving grace. For we are His ambassadors on this earth. And as such should be dedicated to rescuing souls and leading them toward the light of salvation.

September 11th – Proverbs 25:13

Proverbs 25:13

Did you know the phrase, “a breath of fresh air”, originally came from the phrase, “a breath of heaven”? As His ambassadors to the world, that’s who God calls us to be. We are to be faithful, loyal, and true representatives of the Lord. Breaths of fresh air to a world stifled in sin. At harvest time, the workers were weary and parched. And so cool refreshing drinks were brought by messengers to ease their suffering. We are those messengers dispatched by God to a suffering world. A world thirsty for the relief of God’s redemptive, merciful, and refreshing love. And when we comfort others, not only are we blessing them, we too are blessed. For God finds joy in those who faithfully are the instruments through which He sends relief. It pleases His heart to see His children working in loving obedience. Those who faithfully bring sustenance to a people lost, hurting, and searching for refreshment of their souls that only God can provide.

April 16th – Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8

Just like the early disciples, one of the wonderful privileges we get as Christians is to partner up with Jesus. And as His followers the Lord gives us all the same commission, to be His ambassadors upon the earth. Ambassadors who go about the world spreading the gospel to all who would hear. And because God never calls us to accomplish His will alone, He sends the gift of the Holy Spirit to indwell all believers. God’s Spirit speaks to us in His “still, small voice,” (1 Kings 19:12) empowering and leading us to where God needs us the most. And in a darkened world, shining examples of God’s love and grace are desperately needed. So may we answer God’s call, and become His beacons of light!
