God’s Mercies

November 6th – Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31

I read a quote that said, “If you want to be reminded of the love of the Lord, just watch the sunrise.”  There’s something beautiful about watching the sunrise after a long, weary night. The darkness slowly gives way to light, and hope begins to break through the horizon. In that quiet moment, we’re reminded of God’s promise in Isaiah 40:31, that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Just as the sun rises faithfully every morning, so does God’s mercy and power in our lives. We may feel tired, worn, or ready to give up, but He breathes new life into our weary hearts. He gives us strength to keep walking, to keep trusting, and to keep believing that His timing is perfect. Waiting isn’t wasted time; it’s where God transforms us. When we lean into Him, we learn to soar above our struggles, to run with endurance, and to walk in peace. Each morning brings another chance to trust Him anew. To exchange our weakness for His strength. And in that sacred exchange, hope rises again.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, when I feel weary and worn, help me to wait on You. Renew my strength today and teach me to soar on wings of faith.

May 22nd – Psalm 98:1-3

Psalm 98:1-3

Growing up I remember listening to America’s Top 40 with Casey Kasem. Each week I was excited to hear who held the coveted spot of the new number one song. And each week we too have a new song to sing. One of praise and worship to the Lord for His blessings, glory, and gift of salvation. Because His goodness and mercy are new each morning, (Lam. 3:23) how can we help but sing of the marvelous things He has done. All of creation cries out in worship to God’s glory, splendor, and majesty. The heavens, earth, sea, fields, and even the trees, sing to the Lord a new song. For one day God will restore everything His hands have made to its original perfection. From the beginning, God has had His master plan in motion. And with the birth of Jesus Christ, that plan was made real before all mankind. In His amazing love, God planned to once and for all destroy evil and reconcile everything back to Himself, our great Creator. And one day soon, all will sing a new song praising and giving glory to Him alone!

May 7th – Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations 3:22-23

It’s hard for me to read the book of Lamentations without a lump in my throat. Because its pages are filled with the pain of the prophet Jeremiah. He grieves over the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians. Yet even in the midst of desolation and despair, Jeremiah had a heart of gratitude for the goodness of God. Gratitude is a powerful tool in overcoming the feelings that ail us. And knowing God’s compassion and kindness towards us are renewed each morning, helped ease the prophets pain. No matter how bad the circumstances of the day, with each new sunrise comes the opportunity to start fresh. To let go of yesterday and its failures and hurts, and receive God’s grace and forgiveness. Furthermore, when we trust in His unwavering love and faithfulness, and remember God’s faithful goodness, we too will have an overwhelming gratitude that eases our pain. And hearts that look to Him for the strength and hope we need to face each day.

November 22nd – Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations 3:22-23

Everything in life has an expiration date, even us. But there is one thing that never dies. And that is the love God both feels and demonstrates to those He calls His own. It never waivers, never changes, and never leaves us. And because God is the Author of love, the perfect love He gives isn’t because of our goodness, but His. For we fail Him daily, and could never deserve the great devotion and affection our Father lavishes on us. Yet out of His great faithfulness, God’s mercies are new each morning. With the dawn of each day, He gives us a fresh supply of His love and compassion. And how thankful are we that no matter how many times we mess up, each morning brings with it a chance to start over. To do better than the day before. Knowing that even on the days where we get up on the wrong side of the bed, God doesn’t. He is there always, waiting to give to us His mercies!
