God’s Will

January 30th – John 3:30

John 3:30

John the Baptist was a rockstar back in the day. People came from miles around to hear his teachings and be baptized. Yet when the crowds began to dwindle and follow Jesus instead, John wasn’t resentful. Instead, he was filled with humble joy. For John wasn’t about his ego, but about the job appointed to him by God. To prepare the way for the Lord. I want to be a John. I want to surrender my ego and desires to align with God’s will. But to change means letting go of my own agenda, and embracing the transformative power of God’s love and grace. It calls for shifting from self-centeredness to selflessness, from pride to humility. And allowing God to lead me into a new way of thinking, feeling, and acting. It’s about trusting in His guidance and surrendering control, knowing that He alone holds the key to my true fulfillment and purpose in life. I want to become less, so God can become greater in my life. To fully embrace the job He has given me, and complete it joyfully, obediently, and for His glory alone!

Proverbs 16:3

Living intentionally for God takes a daily commitment to make our goals and intentions line up with His. That means making sure every thought, word, and action, are in perfect rhythm with His grace and purpose. Intentional living involves cultivating a close, personal relationship with the Lord through prayer and seeking His will in every decision. It means extending love, grace, and compassion to others as a reflection of His character. And being intentional for the Lord means stewarding our time, talents, and resources in ways that honor Him. It’s a daily journey of growth, surrender, and obedience, where each step is taken with the deliberate intent of glorifying God and furthering His kingdom on earth. So as we stand on the threshold of a new year, let’s embark on a journey of intentional living. Let’s dedicate all our plans to the Lord, trusting in His wisdom, and laying a strong foundation for the year ahead. For when we do, God will establish and fulfill those plans in accordance with His greater purpose.

September 26th – Colossians 3:15

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

In a world where everyone is busy and not finding enough hours in the day, peace is what we crave. Jesus offers such peace. And His peace is vital because it serves as a divine compass in our lives. In times of confusion, the peace of Christ brings clarity, calms our anxieties, and guides us toward decisions and actions that align with God’s will. By letting this peace be our guide, we cultivate harmony in our relationships. We experience inner serenity and walk in the path of God’s purpose for our lives. With gratitude in our hearts, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the blessings in our lives and for God’s role in them. Moreover, we are urged to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, guiding our thoughts, actions, and worship. Whether in our daily interactions or in the moments of solitude, these verses remind us that living a Christ-centered life involves a deliberate and continual practice of gratitude, peace, and devotion. September 19th – Romans 1:18

Romans 1:18

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness.”

In today’s world, there often seems to be an “anything goes” attitude. Moral and ethical boundaries are increasingly blurred or ignored. However, no matter how wicked this world gets, God’s perspective remains unchanged. And with Him there are no grey areas. Because God doesn’t compromise between right and wrong. And the Lord sees and knows our actions, and whether they align with His will or not. That’s why Paul warns of the consequences of disobeying and rejecting God’s truth. And reminds us of the importance of acknowledging the moral and spiritual consequences of our actions. Because nothing gets by God. And living a life opposite of His truth and embracing ungodliness always leads to destruction. Worse yet, it leads to moral decay and separation from His grace. So lovingly, Paul encourages us to seek truth, righteousness, and a relationship with God. To recognize the significance of aligning our lives with His divine principles.

Philippians 2:5

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus”

In a world ruled by Satan, everyday we are inundated with temptations and sin. That’s why the apostle Paul encourages us to maintain a mindset that aligns with Jesus. The One who humbly served others and remained obedient to God’s will. Keeping our mind on God is crucial. Because it serves as a spiritual anchor in the midst of life’s turbulence. And it provides us with guidance, purpose, and a source of unwavering hope and peace. A mind set on God reinforces our moral compass, encourages positive behavior, and keeps us moving in the right direction on our spiritual journey. It reminds us to continually seek God’s guidance in our thoughts and actions. And to put His will before our own desires. By centering our lives on God and emulating the humility of Christ, we can navigate the challenges of this world. And do so  with grace, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose. Which not only is a powerful testimony to the world, but also ultimately strengthens our relationship with the Lord and others.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is; His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We are at war with a powerful Enemy. And even the mightiest Christian can fall prey to his lies and sin against God. So we need to use every weapon in our arsenal to stop him at every turn. That’s why the apostle Paul councils us to fight against the pull of sin by transforming our minds and renewing our thought patterns. Because Paul knew the power of a Christlike mind and heart. We live in a world that both glorifies and encourages sinful desires and behaviors. Yet as followers of Jesus, we are called to resist conformity to these worldly standards. Instead, we are urged to seek a deeper understanding of God’s will and purpose. And we do this through His Word and prayer. By immersing ourselves in God’s truth and aligning our thoughts with His, we gain the strength to discern right from wrong. And the ability to make choices that honor Him. August 15th – Colossians 3:2

Colossians 3:2

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

With all the distractions of daily living, it’s easy to set our minds on earthly concerns and priorities. That’s why Paul encourages us to be intentional in our thinking. To instead purposely set our minds on heavenly matters. But what are these things from above which should be our focus? First is God’s will. We should be constantly seeking to understand and align our lives with God’s purposes and desires. And there’s eternal truths to focus on. The unchanging truth of God’s Word and the teachings of Jesus. And how about our spiritual walk? One of greatest priorities should be our own spiritual development and maturity in Christ. By keeping our hearts attuned to the heavenly, we navigate life’s challenges with a renewed sense of purpose, finding contentment in God’s presence and seeking His guidance in all aspects of our lives. This enriches our spiritual journey. And it reminds us of the wonderful and imperishable treasures that await us beyond this world.

August 11th – Colossians 3:15

Colossians 3:15

And let, the peace of Christ, act as umpire in your hearts.”

The hardest job of the game is the umpire. Because even though he knows he’ll make some happy and others angry, he still calls the balls and strikes. And he’s trusted to make impartial judgements according to the rules of the game. The peace of Christ is our personal umpire. Because the serenity we receive from having a close, personal, relationship with Jesus helps us decide between balls and strikes when making decisions or resolving conflict. Serving as a reliable indicator, the peace of Christ lets us know if we’re either on the wrong path or acting accordingly to God’s will. This divine umpire ensures that we stay true to our faith. He guides us away from turmoil and toward a life marked by harmony, purpose, and alignment with God’s perfect plan. And when we lay everything at the feet of the Lord, and allow Him to guide us in every aspect of life, we’ll hit it out the park every time!

May 25th – Philippians 2:3

Philippians 2:3

We all love a little pat on the back along with acknowledgement and appreciation. But when our own egos become the main focus, no longer are we working for God. Instead we’re working for the pleasing of our own vanity. Jesus, who was fully God, willingly gave up the privileges of deity and, “emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in the appearance of man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Phil. 2: 7-8) Christ lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a humiliating, excruciatingly painful death nailed to a Cross. He willingly became our substitute for sin, paying the debt that we owed. All in accordance to the will of God and out of love for us. In light of His great sacrifice, our words and actions should reflect the honor and humility of our Savior.

May 21st – 1 Peter 1:3

1 Peter 1:3

I love this declaration of loving praise from Peter. Because it comes from a heart overflowing with gratitude for the immeasurable mercy of God. A mercy He gives to us, His children, every minute of every day. And from that great mercy springs forth the living hope we have in Christ’s resurrection, and our new birth as adopted children into the family of God. So in light of our new identities as coheirs with Christ, we are to align our lives with God’s Will and His kingdom values. That means trusting in His abundant love, timing, and direction as we navigate life’s challenges. And sharing the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the transformative, living hope He alone offers. Oh how can we not join Peter in his worship and adoration of God. For in His abundant mercy, grace, and love, He spared nothing to give us eternal life. Not even His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
