May 18th – 1 Peter 1:23

1 Peter 1:23

Evangelist Henry Drummond said, “The Spiritual Life is the gift of the living Spirit. The spiritual man is no mere development of the natural man. He is a new creation born from above.” Our physically birth into this world doesn’t mean we are also born spiritually. Paul himself told us that we all start out dead in sin. (Eph. 2:1). It is God alone who makes us alive when we come to Him through faith in Christ. (Eph. 2:5–9) The minute we receive Jesus as our Savior, we become part of God’s family. And as His adopted children, we have been given some pretty amazing privileges and heirs to His promises. Even more wonderful, we receive a life altering transformation through the work of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. A new eternal nature which celebrates our new life in Christ, and the incredible hope and security we have as believers.

November 27th – 2 Corinthians 4:13

2 Corinthians 4:13

I am thankful for a heart bursting to share the Good News of Jesus Christ

In Matthew 12:33 Jesus says, “the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.” No matter how hard we may try to hide, whatever is truly in our hearts is revealed by the words we speak. Paul’s heart was filled with such faith in the Lord he declared, “If I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.” (1 Cor. 9:16) That’s the kind of faith I want to have. The kind that makes me want to burst if I don’t share the Good News of Christ and all of the wonderful things God has done for me. To tell of the endless ways He has healed, comforted, strengthened, and loved a sinner like me. We all have a testimony to give and we should be ready to share our faith and the reason for it. The Bible says one day we will all give an account for the words we speak. (Matt. 12:36) And as for me, the account I want to give is this. “I believed, so I spoke.”

Titus 2:13-14

I am thankful that Jesus is my blessed hope

AW Tozer once said, “Let us be alert to the season in which we are living. It is the season of the Blessed Hope, calling for us to cut our ties with the world and build ourselves on this One who will soon appear. He is our hope; a Blessed Hope enabling us to rise above our times and fix our gaze upon Him.” I truly believe we are living in the last days, and Jesus could return at any minute. But while we wait for the blessed hope of the Lord’s return, we have work to do. Not only are we to continue spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are also to continue working on ourselves. We do this by rejecting the values of the world, and leading sensible, righteous, and godly lives. Each day could be the day of the glorious return of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Are you ready? Do not take for granted that you have tomorrow for as Jesus warns, “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come!” (Mark 13:33)

November 6th – John 14:6

John 14:6

I am thankful for the way, the truth, and the life

Today’s world is lacking in absolute truths, being replaced instead with “ my truth.” Meaning whether it be true or not, we are encouraged to believe our own reality. But truth is defined as the state or character of being true. And the One who perfectly fits that description is Jesus Christ. He is the only begotten Son of God, the light, goodness, and love. The promised Messiah and Redeemer of the world, Jesus is the one and only way to God. False religions deceitfully say there are many paths to heaven. But the way, truth, and life, comes through Jesus alone. Nothing, absolutely nothing else can provide eternal life. Because only the Lamb of God lived a sinless life dedicated to obeying His will. And it is His precious blood that provides the path to an eternity spent with God. So whoever rejects the Son, seeking another path, will be rejected by the Father.

November 2nd – Ephesians 2:8-9

Ephesians 2:8-9

I am thankful for the gift of God’s grace

Throughout the Bible we learn in no uncertain terms that there is nothing we can do to earn salvation. Instead it comes only through the unmerited favor of God and the work of Jesus on the Cross. Such a simple message. But even the most devout Christian isn’t immune to struggling with it’s simplicity. Because in our fallen minds it seems too easy and too good to be true. And so we can find ourselves adding to the gospel. Falling into the wrong thinking that salvation comes both through faith, and….. There is no and. There is only grace. Such an awesome love our Father shows us in that we who are guilty of breaking His law and owing a debt of death, Himself laid down His own life in payment. That is God’s amazing, saving grace. A grace that frees us from bondage, one that is offered freely to all, for our good and His glory!

April 1st – John 3:16

John 3:16

As we welcome the new month, and the Easter season, I can think of no better time to celebrate Jesus Christ! Our Lord and Savior who came to die so that we can live. Once we were dead in our sins and eternally separated from God. But our Father in heaven, in His great love, wanted to be reconciled to His children. And so He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to become our perfect sin sacrifice. Jesus willingly and joyfully came to be beaten, tortured, rejected, and nailed to a Cross. All to pay our sin debt in full and bring us back into fellowship with God. And through His loving sacrifice, we now can look forward to life eternal spent at His side. So with hearts overflowing with thankfulness, how can not celebrate with great joy!

November 11th – Romans 1:8

Romans 1:8

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone you helped bring to Christ, declare Him as their Savior. That is the same joy Paul felt when writing to the Romans. The apostle gave thanks that they had they received Jesus, and their faith was being proclaimed in all the world. The greatest calling God gives to us is the same He gave to Paul. To boldly share the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout the world. God calls us to lead lives that shine brightly with His glory. So brightly, others are attracted to Him like moths to a flame. “Always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.” (1 Peter 3:15) The sand in the hourglass is running out. Jesus will soon return. And out of hearts of thankfulness for His saving grace, we need to proclaim the Gospel while there is still time!

July 29th – 1 Corinthians 9:19

1 Corinthians 9:19

As soon as we receive Jesus as our Savior, the chains of bondage, sin, and death are broken. We are free, no longer under the power of the Enemy, nor any man. So why would we ever want to return to slavery? Yet that’s exactly what the apostle Paul did. Only instead of being a slave to the world, Paul eagerly became a slave to Jesus. This meant answering the call God put on his life. The same call He gives to each of us. To spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. And in order to do this, Paul became all things to all people. That means he met people wherever they were in life. Paul preached to those from all walks of life and backgrounds, foregoing traditions and comforts to share the gospel. But one thing Paul didn’t do. He didn’t compromise His morals, or the Word of God. He was careful that while going into the world to tell everyone about Jesus, he didn’t become worldly himself. And neither should we.

July 15th – Galatians 2:4

Galatians 2:4

The gospel as told in the Word of God is perfect and complete. Yet many try distort it’s message of freedom through the blood of Jesus Christ. They add, take away, and twist the scriptures to fit their worldly agendas. They mandate ungodly rules and rituals needed to obtain salvation, forgiveness, and blessings. And Paul says be alert, for they are everywhere. These “false brethren” don’t come with signs, bells, and whistles, announcing their arrival. Instead they slowly sneak their false doctrine into our hearts and minds, leading us back into the very bondage Jesus gave His blood to free us from. So to defend ourselves, we need to spend time daily in the Word of God. We need to know it’s truths and stand on it’s promises. For it is our greatest shield against attacks from all enemies both outside and within.

No Other Gospel – Galatians 1-2

Galatians 1-2

After returning to Antioch, Paul learned that controversy was brewing among the newly founded churches in the Roman province of Galatia. Some Jewish Christians accused him of “sweetening the pot” to make the message of the gospel more appealing to Gentiles. They disagreed with Paul’s teaching that Gentile believers didn’t need to follow the Jewish laws and customs to receive salvation, and told the members so. …
