Harvest

April 29th – Genesis 8:22

Genesis 8:22

Like the blooming flowers and lush fields, God’s promises blossom anew with each passing day. And just as seedtime and harvest endure, so too does the enduring grace of His word. With the gentle caress of a warming breeze, we feel our Father’s presence, a reminder of His unwavering commitment. Through the fragrant blossoms and tender shoots, we glimpse the eternal truth of His covenant, standing firm as the mountains and enduring as the heavens above. In the harmony of spring, every chirping bird and budding leaf sings praises to His name, a testament to His enduring love. Amidst the changing seasons, His promises remain a beacon of hope, guiding us through the ebb and flow of life’s journey. And as day follows night, His blessings unfurl in abundance, a testament to His boundless mercy and grace. So let us rejoice in the arrival of spring, for in its gentle embrace, we are reminded of the unchanging nature of God’s promises, forever faithful and true.

April 22nd – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

1 Thessalonians 5:18

With spring in the air I can’t wait to clean out my flower beds replacing the dead with new, all in the hopes of a beautiful garden to enjoy all season long. Yet in the amidst of my anticipation, I would do well to remember the wisdom of Paul who urges me to give thanks in all circumstances. Just as a gardener remains grateful regardless of the size of the harvest, I too need to cultivate a spirit of gratitude in both abundance and scarcity. For in every seed sown and every bud that blooms, there lies an opportunity to offer thanks to God, the ultimate Gardener of our lives. Whether the yield be abundant or modest, let us rejoice in the privilege of witnessing growth and transformation. Even when the storms threaten our gardens, we can find comfort in the assurance that God works all things together for our good. Therefore, as we tend to the gardens of our lives, may our hearts overflow with gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon us, knowing that every season serves a purpose in His divine plan.

April 19th – 2 Timothy 2:21

2 Timothy 2:21

Spring’s arrival brings with it a season of preparation. A time when gardeners diligently till the soil and sow seeds in hopeful anticipation of the abundant harvest to come. In much the same way, our spiritual journey requires intentional preparation and cultivation. The soil of our hearts needs tilling, to remove any obstacles that hinder the harvest in our own lives. Intentional seeds of love, grace, and obedience need to be sown with care in the hopes of producing a garden of fruits for the Lord. Today, let us pause and seek God’s guidance in preparing our hearts to be vessels of His love and grace. May we surrender any impurities or distractions that hinder our effectiveness in His service, allowing Him to mold us into instruments for His divine purposes. With hearts purified and minds focused, let us step forward with confidence, ready to do the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do. All with the goal of yielding an abundant harvest for God, and bringing glory to His name.

November 16th – Galatians 6:9

Galatians 6:9

In his letter to the early church in Galatia, Paul uses a parallel between the diligence of farmers and the endurance required in our spiritual journey. Much like farmers who toil in the fields, working and patiently waiting for the harvest season, we are urged not to grow weary in doing good while we wait for God’s great harvest. The apostle uses the comparison to underscore the importance of perseverance and patience for both. Just as farmers trust that their labor will eventually yield a bountiful harvest, we too are called to maintain hope and endurance in our faith journey. Being fully assured that our efforts in living according to God’s principles will bear fruit at the appointed time. Paul also encourages us to emulate the steadfastness of farmers, who continue working the fields despite challenges. To apply that same resilience in our spiritual lives, trusting that in due season, our faithful endurance will lead to a harvest of blessings and fulfillment.

October 17th – Revelation 14:14-16

Revelation 14:14-16

As winter will soon be upon us, farmers are busing gathering up the last of the fall harvest. The tractors dig deep into the soil, gleaning the fields, not wanting anything of value to be left behind. So it is with God. Very soon Jesus will return to glean God’s harvest. Wielding a sharp sickle, the Son of Man will reap every last one of God’s children. Like the harvest of wheat and the gathering of grapes, this final gathering will be to separate the righteous from the unrighteous. And the goats from the sheep. The return of Jesus signifies the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan. A plan where He will gather His faithful followers and execute His divine justice. It serves as a powerful reminder of the promise of Christ’s return and the forthcoming culmination of history. The signs of the times tell us that soon the day of reckoning and reward for the faithful will come. Are you ready for the great harvest? Will you be gleaned by Jesus? Don’t wait to accept His gift of grace and salvation.

October 10th – James 5:7-8

James 5:7-8

Although it takes patience and time, witnessing a seed grow into a plant is a deeply satisfying and awe-inspiring experience. It reminds us of the miraculous process of life unfolding before our eyes. From that tiny, seemingly insignificant seed, emerges a complex and beautiful living organism. This process is a testament to the wonder and intricacy of nature, highlighting the Creator’s wisdom and design. Waiting for God’s abundance in our own lives takes patience as well. Just as a farmer patiently waits for the harvest season, we are encouraged to be patient, knowing that God’s timing is perfect. And His abundance might not always be immediate, but it is certain. God’s plans for us are filled with goodness and blessings, and as we patiently persevere, our faith grows stronger. And we can fully trust in His abundant provision. Because God’s abundance is not just about material blessings but also spiritual growth, endurance, and the assurance that not only is He returning soon, He will fulfill His promises in due time.

October 8th – Revelation 22:1-5

Revelation 22:1-5

Deep in the heart of believers is the longing to one day be a citizen of the heavenly city of Jerusalem. To forever dwell with the Lord where God’s presence reigns in all its glory. It is a place of everlasting peace, joy, and perfect communion with the Divine. Where our faith will be fully realized, our tears wiped away, and our hearts forever united with our Creator. A beautiful home beyond imagining where the river of the water of life flows from the throne of God. And the tree of life bears fruit every month, offering nourishment and healing to the nations. This heavenly Jerusalem gives us a hope that sustains us, guiding our earthly journey as we strive to live in accordance with God’s will. Jesus is coming soon to reap His harvest and establish His kingdom. But until that day, we are called to readiness, anticipation, and living in a way that honors His return. While also rejoicing in the eternal abundance that awaits His faithful followers.

October 7th – Luke 10:1-2

Luke 10:1-2

As believers we are workers in God’s field, entrusted with a sacred mission. For the Lord’s harvest is abundant and the need for laborers great. And many in this world are longing for spiritual guidance and the message of God’s love. Just as a farmer tends the soil, plants the seeds, and nurtures the crops to bring forth a fruitful harvest, so is our work for God. Our work involves sowing the seeds of God’s Word, sharing the message of salvation, and demonstrating His love and grace through our actions.  A role requiring dedication, perseverance, and a heart filled with compassion for those who don’t yet know the love of Christ. It calls us to be obedient and proactive in our faith. To step out into the abundant harvest fields with a heart of love, compassion, and a sense of urgency. For the Lord is soon returning, and if we truly love others with a genuine Christlike love, we should wish for none to be left behind. We should want all to enter into the glory and love of God’s kingdom.

October 1st – Genesis 1:29-31

Genesis 1:29-31

I just love this time of year. The crispness in the air, the colder nights, and the beauty surrounding us as the season changes to Autumn. And as nature prepares to settle for winter, we are reminded of the the incredible extent of God’s provision. Carefully, thoughtfully, and with painstaking detail, He designed our world to overflow with abundance and sustenance. God, in His infinite wisdom and grace, provided a bounty of plants and fruits that are not only nourishing but also delightful to the senses. From the lush forests to the fertile fields, God’s provision is evident in throughout the earth. We can’t help but marvel at His wisdom and be filled with gratitude for all He has graciously provided. And God declaring that His creation was “very good” shows how deeply He  values everything He created. As stewards of this magnificent creation, we bear the responsibility to care for and honor the wondrous gift that is the world around us. Because it reflects the Creator’s glory and wisdom in every detail.

September 1st – Psalm 65:13

Psalm 65:13

The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain;they shout for joy and sing.”

I absolutely love this time of year. The days grow shorter, the nights cooler, and the land scape overflows with the beauty that comes with the changing seasons. It’s a time of harvest and thankfulness for God’s abundant blessings. Undeserved blessings which spring from His overflowing goodness. Just as the fields are clothed with lushness and the valleys covered with grain, our lives are adorned with the blessings of His provision, love, and grace. And each day God gives us, is an opportunity to witness the richness of His creation and experience His faithful care. So how could we, like the valley’s, not sing for joy? How could we not give Him praise for all that He is, all that He does, and all that He blesses us. Therefore may we all cultivate a heart of gratitude, acknowledging that every blessing we receive is a reflection of God’s enduring love and unending faithfulness.
