Knee deep in idolatry, and trying to a live a life void of God, the Israelites were weary. Yet instead of reversing course and living a better way, they doubled down in their disobedience. And to no surprise, separated from God, they could do nothing. The same goes for us. When we put our faith in ourselves instead of God, we lose out of the assured hope that He alone can give us. But because of His unmerited grace, when we return to the Lord in humility, love, and faith, He His faithful to restore and renew us in His amazing love and grace!

We will all face hardships in our lives. And one of things that gets us through the bad times is hope. But where we place our hope can mean the difference between enduring the storm with peace and joy, or disappointment and shame. The fallen world in which we live, offers a hope that is fleeting and untrustworthy. However when we place our hope in God we can face any trial with confidence and perseverance. Because the unchanging, unmerited, and unconditional love of God which fills our hearts with a proven, unshakable, hope that comes from Him alone.

For many people there isn’t much hope or joy to be found in the world today. And sadly, it’s hard to argue otherwise. But thankfully, as followers of Jesus, we can have a hope and excitement the world can never take away. For we know our future. It is one filled with an eternity of joy, and peace spent in the presence of God. And as the days grow closer to the Lord’s return, we can hearts overflowing with hope and excitement at the certainty of the awesome future ahead!

We all sin and fall short. Israel rebelled against God and a result, they were exiled to Babylon. Yet God didn’t forsake them. Even in their sin He was making plans to restore them back to their land and Himself. As Christians we are told that trials and tribulations will enter our lives. But just like He promised with the Israelites, God will never forsake His own. No matter what this new year ahead may hold, we can be sure that God is in control. Our hearts can be filled with hope knowing that no matter the circumstance, He is always working on His plans to provide us with a glorious future!

It’s January. Time again for new beginnings, and to leave the hurts and sorrows of the past year behind. Time to take a deep breath, and look forward to what God has in store for the future. For He is always at work taking all we experience and making something wonderful spring forth. The Lord has great plans for each of us, so we can head forth into the new year confident, hopeful, and thankful. Hope, Joy, and peace aren’t things we just wish for around the holidays. As a Christian, God wants everyday to be filled with the hope, joy, and peace that He alone can provide. We have hope knowing that God wants the best for us, and always fulfills His promises. We have joy feeling the great love God has for us, as shown in the blessings we receive each day. And we have peace knowing that when we make God our refuge, we are in the safe under the wings of the Creator of the universe!
