Luke 22:19-20

He took the bread, broke it, and gave thanks. Then He said, “This is My body, given for you.” For me. For you. Not in theory, but in reality. A bruised, beaten, pierced body that carried the weight of our sin to a rugged cross. And then the cup… “This is My blood, poured out for you.” The lifeblood of the innocent exchanged for the guilt of the world. It’s easy to rush through these words, to take communion with routine hands, but oh, how sacred this gift is. The sacrifice of Jesus wasn’t neat or pretty, it was agony. It was love in its rawest form. It was personal. Every drop of blood had your name on it. Every lash, every nail, every breath He gave was filled with relentless, pursuing love. This Easter, may we slow down and remember. May we hold the bread and the cup with trembling hands, knowing it was all for us. And may our hearts respond with worship, surrender, and a life lived fully in the power of His redeeming grace.

Proverbs 28:1

“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks,” is a famous line from the Shakespeare play, Hamlet. And now it’s used when we think someone is excessive in defending themselves. For no one looks more guilty than when they are trying to convince us otherwise. Because those who are truly blameless don’t need to resort to such passionate protests. And as Christians, we needn’t defend ourselves at all. For we have the greatest Defender we will ever need in God. In times of adversity, when the world may question our intentions and actions, we can find peace knowing when we lives of obedience to His will, the Lord will wrap us in His love and protection. And when we place our trust in His divine plan, we can let go of our fears and insecurities. Instead allowing God to take the lead in our defense. So Instead of protesting and battling to prove our worth, we can surrender. Surrender to the guidance and mercy of the Lord. Recognizing that true strength lies in embracing humility and placing our faith in the divine Orchestrator of our lives.

January 18th – John 8:11

John 8:11

Jesus was teaching in the temple when the scribes and Pharisees threw a woman they had caught in the act of adultery at His feet. Expecting the punishment of death, the crowd waited for Jesus to give His pronouncement. But instead of declaring the women guilty, Jesus did the unthinkable. He forgave her sin and sent her on her way. This woman could easily be you or I. Although our sin may not be adultery, we have all been caught in our sins. James 2:10 says, “For whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.” That makes us all alike. For we all have broken God’s Law. And all have sinned. By not condemning this woman, Jesus was showing that we are all in great need of a Savior to reconcile us to God. That Savior is Jesus Christ. And when we receive Him as Lord, although others declare us guilty, through His precious blood He declares us innocent!

January 4th – Psalm 26:1-3

Psalm 26:1-3

It hurts when we are condemned and convicted for something we didn’t do. And trying to prove our innocence can be frustrating and futile. Because no matter how we plead, or the truth before set them, some people will never believe our faultlessness. David was falsely accused by Saul. Yet instead of taking matters into his own hands, David put his faith in God. In His steadfast love, ability to declare David innocent, and the doling out of the perfect punishment. And when we come before the Lord with a truly clear conscience and unjustly accused, we too can have that same confidence. Oh our victory might not come in the way we want, or when we want, but it will come. So the next time you find yourself falsely accused and on trial for a crime you didn’t commit, don’t go to Judge Judy, go to God. Because there is only one Lawgiver and Judge. (James 4:12) And if He calls us innocent, no one can condemn us! (Rom. 8:33-34)

Matthew 9:9

When Levi the tax collector was at his booth in the city, a man came up to him and said, “Follow Me!” Without a second thought Levi got up, walked out, and immediately began following the man. In that single moment, Levi chose to leave everything behind. He gave up his wealth, influence, and comfort without looking back. It was the best decision Levi ever made. Because that man was Jesus. And following the Lord gave to Levi a wealth many times greater than what he left behind. No longer was he known as the despised tax collector hated by his brothers. Instead Jesus gave him the new name of Matthew, meaning gift of God. And Matthew became a mighty disciple of the Lord. When we too answer the call of Jesus, one day as we stand before Him in heaven He will welcome us in joy and love, declare us innocent, and give to us a new name known only to God!
