Joy

April 25th – Isaiah 35:1-2

Isaiah 35:1-2

In the dry, desolate expanse of the desert, life seems to wither away, leaving behind a barren landscape. But with the arrival of spring, a miraculous transformation takes place. And the once dreary scenery, becomes vibrant with blooming wildflowers of pink, purple, and yellow. Isaiah paints a vivid picture of the transformation that occurs when God’s restoration unfolds. Like the desert bursting forth with life and splendor, so too will our hearts burst forth with joy when we witness the fullness of God’s restoration. A restoration rooted in His mercy, and one that will take us from brokenness to wholeness, darkness to light. And the joy we experience from God’s promises fulfilled, will be greater than anything we’ve ever known. So as we anticipate this glorious renewal, let us prepare our hearts to receive it with open arms, trusting in God’s unfailing love and faithfulness. And when the day of restoration comes, may our happiness be uncontainable. Like streams bursting forth in the desert, flooding the parched land with life-giving water.

April 18th – Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16:11

Spring is a season of joy as nature awakens, replacing the dull and grey with a palette of beautiful colors. And like the earth which bursts forth with blossoms, our souls too rejoice in the promise of brighter days ahead. As we bask in the warmth of the sun and witness nature’s glorious transformation, let us also embrace the joy that springs forth from knowing God. For just as the beauty of spring fills our hearts with delight, so too does the presence of God bring an abiding joy that transcends any and all earthly pleasures. For true and lasting happiness can’t be found in anything this world can offer. Instead, it can be found in God alone. So today and everyday, let us embrace the joy that comes from abiding in His presence. Where we find comfort and strength in His unconditional, and unfailing love. As we rejoice in the hope He provides, may our hearts overflow with gratitude, and our spirits soar with anticipation for the blessings that lie ahead on our glorious journey of faith.

April 6th – Psalm 96:12-13

Psalm 96:12-13

Martin Luther once said, “Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” Nature sings of God’s glory and majesty, from the tallest mountains to the depths of the seas, filling our hearts with awe and wonder. With each sunrise and sunset, with every rustle of the leaves and chirp of the birds, creation proclaims the greatness of our Creator. Let us join creation’s chorus, lifting our voices in harmony with the wind, the waves, and the whispering trees. For He who formed the heavens and the earth deserves all honor and praise. As the rivers flow and the flowers bloom, let us be reminded of God’s faithfulness and love that never fades. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, let us declare His wonders to the nations, sharing the gladness of His salvation. For in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy, and in His light, we find true peace. So let us make music, rejoice, and be glad, for the Lord reigns over all the earth, now and forevermore.

April 5th – Psalm 51:10

Psalm 51:10

Just as spring showers cleanse the earth and nourish new growth, let us invite the Holy Spirit to cleanse and renew our hearts. Like the gentle rain that washes away the dust of winter, may His presence purify our souls and make us whole again. As the earth eagerly awaits the fresh buds of spring, so too may we eagerly seek God’s transformation in our lives, trusting in His unfailing love and mercy. With humble hearts, let us echo king David’s plea, asking God to create in us a clean heart and to renew a steadfast spirit within us. May His grace rain down upon us, refreshing our spirits and revitalizing our faith. Just like the landscape is adorned with the vibrant colors of spring, may our hearts be adorned with the fruits of the Spirit. Fruits including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. In the midst of life’s storms, may we find shelter in God’s embrace, knowing that He is faithful to restore and renew us. And find joy and gladness in His great mercy and compassion.

Romans 15:13

One of the apostle Paul’s deepest longings was that we as believers, experience the fullness of joy and peace that comes from the hope we have in Christ. A hope that is the very essence of Easter. When Christians around the world celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection, and the hope it brings for the future. For in Jesus we find assurance in the unyielding faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, who demonstrated His boundless love through the sacrificial death and triumphant Resurrection of His Son. Giving us a hope that isn’t fleeting or just wishful thinking. John 14:26

Pentecost is a significant Christian festival commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus. It marks the birth of the Christian Church and is celebrated with joy and gratitude for our great Advocate, whom the Father sent in His name. The significance of Pentecost lies in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. The moment we receive Jesus as our Savior, God’s Spirit takes up residence inside us. And immediately He begins His work of guiding, empowering, and shaping us into the beautiful likeness of Jesus. Through Him we have  all we need to fulfill the call of Christ in our lives. As we reflect on this promise, let us seek a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, asking God to equip us to live lives that honor Him. March 8th – Luke 24:27

Luke 24:27

As Christian’s we have the comfort and joy of knowing we never walk alone. For as He did with His disciples, Jesus walks beside us, revealing Himself in wonderful and amazing ways. On the road to Emmaus, the disciples were broken hearted and confused at the death of Jesus. As they journeyed, the Lord joined them incognito, talking with them and revealing the mysteries of Scripture about Himself. It wasn’t until they sat down to share a meal, that their eyes were fully opened to recognize their beloved Friend and Savior. And just like He revealed Himself to the disciples through the Scriptures and the breaking of bread, Jesus continues to reveal Himself to us today through His Word and sacraments. When we study the Scriptures, and partake in the Lord’s Supper, He opens our eyes to His presence, truth, and grace. So as we walk our own road to Emmaus, may we each be attuned to His voice and presence, allowing Him to unveil His truth and resurrection power in our own lives.
