Last Days

September 12th – Ephesians 5:15-16

Week 2 – Wisdom In Time Management (Ephesians 5:15-16)

In these last days before the return of Jesus, the apostle Paul encourages us to approach life with wisdom and mindfulness. He reminds us that every moment is a gift, and each opportunity holds significance. In a world filled with sin and distractions, it’s easy to just drift through life. But as followers of Jesus, we’re called to live intentionally. To make the most of every chance we’re given. Time is precious, and opportunities may come and go swiftly. By seeking God’s wisdom, we can navigate life’s decisions with clarity, ensuring that our actions align with His will. When we’re mindful of our time and choices, we not only honor God but also maximize our potential to impact those around us for good. Whether in our relationships, work, or personal growth, being purposeful in how we spend our days allows us to make a lasting difference. Life is too short to waste, so let’s approach each day with intentionality. And seek to bring glory to God in all that we do.

Questions For Reflection

  1. How can we ensure that we are making the most of our time and opportunities each day, staying focused on what truly matters in light of God’s purpose for us?
  1. What steps can we take to be more intentional and mindful in our actions, making decisions with wisdom that align with God’s will?

August 31st – 1 John 4:4

Week 5 – Strength In God (1 John 4:4)

In these last days, we are warned that many false prophets will arise on the scene. And with them they’ll bring messages that tickle the ears but stray far from the truth of God’s Word. They will preach gospels that sound appealing, offering what people want to hear rather than what they need to hear. But as believers we have a responsibility to diligently compare every message we hear against the truth found in Scripture. Thankfully, we are not alone in this task. The Spirit of God Himself dwells within us, guiding us into all truth and giving us the discernment to recognize and reject the lies of Satan. For we are promised, “Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) No matter how wise the false prophets may seem we can stand firm. Firm with confidence in the power of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to remain faithful to the one, true, Gospel. With God’s Word as our foundation and the Spirit as our guide, we can resist deception and cling to the truth that sets us free.

Questions for Reflection –

  1. How can we actively rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance to discern truth from false teachings in our daily lives?
  1. In what practical ways can we strengthen our understanding of God’s Word to stand firm against the lies and deceptions we may encounter?

With God’s Spirit in our hearts, we can face anything the world throws our way! 🙏🏻❤️

May 26th – Matthew 12:36

Matthew 12:36

People like to say that the tongue is the strongest muscle of the body. And because the Lord knows the profound power and danger of the tongue, He gives a warning. One day we will each give an account for every careless word we speak. Our words can build up or tear down, heal or hurt. They reflect the state of our hearts and can have lasting impacts on others. In a world filled with anger, division, and hostility, it’s crucial to be mindful of our speech. Careless words can spread negativity, falsehoods, and pain, while thoughtful words can inspire, encourage, and bring peace. As followers of Jesus, we must strive to speak with wisdom, kindness, and truth. Our conversations should reflect His love and grace, building others up rather than tearing them down. By doing so, we honor God and demonstrate the transformative power of His Spirit in our lives. As we await His return, let us commit to using our tongues to glorify Him and edify those around us, knowing that every word matters in the eyes of our Savior.

2 Corinthians 11:13

Paul warns us about false apostles, deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. As we approach the last days, it is crucial to be particularly discerning about the teachers, ministers, and so-called prophets we listen to. The rise of misinformation and deception is rampant, and many may be led astray by charismatic leaders who do not preach the true gospel. Our ultimate source of truth must be the Bible, the inspired Word of God. By grounding ourselves in Scripture, we can discern between true and false teachings. The Bible equips us with wisdom and understanding, helping us to recognize those who distort the gospel for their gain. It is essential to test every teaching against the Word of God, ensuring it aligns with the doctrines and principles found in Scripture. Let us remain vigilant, prayerful, and committed to studying the Bible, allowing its truths to guide and protect us.

Matthew 24:6

In Matthew we are reminded that in the last days, we will hear of wars and rumors of wars. This paints a picture of a world that often feels scary and dangerous. The current wars, threats of new wars, and the violence and hostility towards those with different beliefs, all contribute to this unsettling reality. Yet as believers, we understand that these events must occur to usher in the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And despite the chaos around us, we find solace in the knowledge that God is always in control. Nothing happens outside of His sovereign plan, and nothing takes Him by surprise. This assurance allows us to face the turmoil with a sense of peace, knowing that God’s purposes are being fulfilled. Our faith anchors us, reminding us that even in the darkest times, God’s light shines through. We are called to trust in His timing and to remain steadfast in our hope. October 27th – Exodus 34:6

Exodus 34:6

Solomon was a wise man. And in Proverbs 14:29 he says, “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Boy does that ring true. Patience is a virtue I struggle with daily. And inevitably impatience leads to anger, followed by jumping to conclusions, ending with regret. That’s why I’m so very thankful God’s mercy extends far beyond my shortcomings. In spite of myself, His grace flows endlessly. When I am faithless, His love and faithfulness never waver. Because God’s abundant goodness is not limited by our limitations. It’s an ever continuing supply of hope and assurance. A reminder of His unfailing presence in our lives. And an invitation to embrace the richness of His blessings with gratitude and humility. The world is filled so much anger and division. Jesus warned that in the last days people would become lovers of themselves and money. They’ll be braggers, arrogant, and abusive. (2 Tim. 3:2) May it not be with God’s people. May we abound in love.
