Matthew 5:11

It’s a great feeling to be loved, respected, appreciated, and admired by others. We all want to feel valued, especially by the people closest to us. But Jesus gives us a completely different picture of what it means to be truly blessed. In Matthew 5:11, He tells us that we are blessed when people insult persecute and falsely say all kinds of evil against us because of Him.

That’s a hard truth to embrace, especially when the rejection comes from people we love. It hurts when someone we care about mocks what we believe, or distances themselves because we choose to follow the Lord. But Jesus reminds us that our worth isn’t determined by how the world receives us.

There’s something incredibly powerful about being able to rejoice when the world rejects us for standing with Christ. Because it means we value our relationship with Jesus more than we value being liked.

So when persecution comes, we can praise Him. When we’re mocked and rejected, we can refuse to become bitter. And people lie about us, we can remember that Jesus knows the truth.

No one rejoices because persecution feels good. We rejoice because it

reminds us whose side we’re on. Jesus endured rejection, hatred, mockery, and suffering for us. If following Him brings some of that same rejection into our lives, we can count it a privilege rather than a defeat.

The world may reject us, but heaven knows our name. And one day the approval of our Savior will matter infinitely more than the applause of this world.

1 Peter 5:8-9

You and I have a real enemy in Satan. The one who seeks to divide, discourage, and destroy what God is building in us. Every day he tries to whisper lies, stir up worry, and pull our focus from God’s peace. He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. And not always does he roar loudly. Sometimes he comes quietly, through weariness, distraction, or despair. But we are not powerless. We stand firm, clothed in the strength of our Savior, anchored in truth that cannot be shaken. Each time we resist the enemy’s lies and cling to God’s promises, we remind him that he has already lost. Our victory isn’t in our own strength, but in the One who lives within us. God equips us with courage when we feel weak and fills us with peace when chaos surrounds us. The more we trust His power, the more the enemy’s roar loses its sting. So, keep standing firm. Be rooted, watchful, and confident in the God who fights for you. Because the Lion of Judah reigns, and no darkness can overcome His light.

Week 5 – Strength In God (1 John 4:4)

In these last days, we are warned that many false prophets will arise on the scene. And with them they’ll bring messages that tickle the ears but stray far from the truth of God’s Word. They will preach gospels that sound appealing, offering what people want to hear rather than what they need to hear. But as believers we have a responsibility to diligently compare every message we hear against the truth found in Scripture. Thankfully, we are not alone in this task. The Spirit of God Himself dwells within us, guiding us into all truth and giving us the discernment to recognize and reject the lies of Satan. For we are promised, “Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) No matter how wise the false prophets may seem we can stand firm. Firm with confidence in the power of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to remain faithful to the one, true, Gospel. With God’s Word as our foundation and the Spirit as our guide, we can resist deception and cling to the truth that sets us free.

Questions for Reflection –

  1. How can we actively rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance to discern truth from false teachings in our daily lives?
  1. In what practical ways can we strengthen our understanding of God’s Word to stand firm against the lies and deceptions we may encounter?

The truth of God’s Word is a powerful force that liberates us from the deception and lies of the Enemy. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we discover God’s character, promises, and the identity He gives us. This divine truth acts as a light that exposes deceit, false teachers, and wrong gospels. It helps us to recognize and reject the Enemy’s deceitful tactics designed to lead us away from the Lord. Lies about our worth, purpose, and God’s love are torn down by the truth of Scripture, which affirms our value, directs our path, and reassures us of God’s unwavering love. By embracing and living according to this truth, we break free from the chains of fear, doubt, and confusion that Satan seeks to impose. Instead when we are deeply anchored to God’s promises, we experience clarity, peace, and freedom that come from a life grounded in truth. This freedom empowers us to resist temptation, make godly decisions, and stand firm in our faith, ultimately leading to a life that reflects the liberating power of God’s truth.

Romans 8:38-39

Do you ever doubt God’s love for you? Ever feel too sinful, dirty, or broken to be of any value to the Lord? Those feelings are lies from the Enemy. The truth is that nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God. Do you think any sin we commit comes as a surprise to God? As our Creator, He knows us better than we know ourselves, the good, bad, and ugly. Yet from the depth and breadth of His unfailing love, He gives us life, and call us His beloved. And no earthly circumstance, no spiritual power, no height, nor depth, nor any other created thing can sever the love between us and our Heavenly Father. Not even ourselves. For His is a love that triumphs over sin, death, and every force that seeks to separate us from His hand. No matter who we are or what we’ve done, when we come back to God with hearts of repentance, He always welcomes us home. For even when Satan tries to tell us otherwise, we are eternally cherished and embraced by the unshakeable love of our Creator.

Matthew 5:13

Not only a call from God, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is a blessing we as Christians get to have. And oh what an honor it is to experience the joy of leading another to a saving relationship with the Lord. But currently, the world in which we live is hostile to God and His teachings. Yet a world desperate for His saving grace all the same. And with the Lord’s soon return upon us, it’s important that we be the salt and light to a flavorless, rotten, and darkened society. How? To be the salt means to flavor the world with joy, love, and positive influences. While preserving and protecting what is good and right. To be the light means exposing the darkness and evil of Satan and his lies. Putting a spotlight on what is true and right. By shining our lights on God’s path to salvation, we bring the Lord’s assured hope of everlasting life to those who are lost and in despair. And how awesome is it that the Lord lets us work hand in hand with Him in growing His kingdom!
