Maranatha

January 6th – Psalm 130:5

Psalm 130:5

A new year brings new hope for the Lord’s glorious return. Yet as the day grows closer, the world grows darker. And as prophesied, we as a people have become more divided. Anger, hatred, and selfishness, are the traits of the day, as the love of many grows cold. With everything happening around us, my heart often cries out, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” Everything in me longs for His return and the restoration only He can bring. And yet, even as I wait, I trust Him. I trust in His timing, His unfailing love, and His great desire that none would perish. That’s why Psalm 130:5 brings me joy. Because it reminds us that waiting on the Lord is not passive. It’s an act of hope. I may not always understand why Jesus tarries, but I believe His delays are filled with mercy and purpose. So I will keep waiting with joyful obedience. I will keep choosing faith over fear. And when my heart feels heavy, I will lift my eyes above the chaos. Choosing to place my hope in Jesus alone. For I am confident that the One who promised is faithful.

Reflection Question:
In a world that often feels divided and cold, what does it look like for you to wait on the Lord with hope, trust, and joyful obedience today?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, I wait for You and place my hope in You alone. When the world feels heavy and my heart longs for Your return, help me trust Your timing and Your love. Teach me to wait with faith, to live in obedience, and to shine Your light while I hold fast to the promise of Your coming. Maranatha—come, Lord Jesus. Amen.

October 27th – Revelation 22:20

Revelation 22:20

The Bible closes with the longing cry, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Those words echo through time, stirring the hearts of all who believe. We feel it too. That deep ache for His return. The longing for the day when all things are made new. We look around and see signs of the end times unfolding all around us. The world groans under the weight of darkness, and yet, our hope doesn’t waver. For we know how the story ends. Jesus wins. So while our lips cry “Maranatha!”, our hearts overflow with joy and anticipation. Because we wait, not in fear, but in faith. Each new sunrise feels like a reminder that His promises are drawing closer. And each trial strengthens our longing for home. So we live ready. Our eyes are lifted, our hearts anchored, and our hands open in service. Because this waiting is holy. The Bridegroom is coming for His Bride. And every tear, every act of faithfulness, and every whispered prayer will soon find its answer. Until then, we wait with joy, hope, and unwavering love, trusting that soon, our King will return in glory.

October 13th – Titus 2:13

Titus 2:13

Hope is the quiet strength that keeps our hearts steady when the world feels unsteady. Oh, not the worldly kind that fades when circumstances shift, but the living hope that looks toward the day our Savior, Jesus Christ, will appear. Living in this fallen world can be weary on our souls. And tired of the wait we cry out, “Maranatha! come, Lord Jesus!” But thankfully, our blessed hope isn’t some faraway dream. It’s the anchor that keeps our hearts secure when storms surround us. Each sunrise reminds us that God’s promises are still unfolding, His timing is still perfect, and His love is still holding us fast. So we live with eyes lifted, knowing that one day every sorrow will be silenced and every tear wiped away. Until that day, hope teaches us to endure patiently, love deeply, and walk faithfully. Waiting doesn’t weaken us, it refines us. It molds us into people whose peace is found not in what we see, but in who we know is coming. And that living hope dear friend, makes every moment we wait, sacred.

September 20th – Revelation 14:15-16

Revelation 14:15-16

One day, there will be a final harvest. The moment when Jesus returns to gather His people. Just like a farmer knows when the crops are ready, God knows the exact time when the earth will be ripe. Sometimes when I look around at all the brokenness, division, and darkness, I wonder how much more this world can take. But then I remember. Jesus is coming, and His timing is always perfect. Until that day, our calling is to stay faithful. To keep planting seeds of truth, hope, and love, even when it feels unnoticed. Every prayer whispered, every act of kindness offered, every word of encouragement spoken becomes part of the work God is doing. But there’s also a sobering reality. The final harvest will be just that, final. There won’t be time to go back and plant what we left undone. That’s why what we do now matters so deeply. This is the season to live with purpose, to point others toward Jesus, and to make sure our own hearts are ready. The harvest won’t just mark an ending, it will open the door to a beautiful eternity with Him. And that thought fills me with both urgency and joy.

Reflection Question: Am I living with intentional faith today, planting seeds that will last into eternity?

Prayer Prompt: Lord, help me stay faithful in the work You’ve given me. Teach me to plant with love, live with purpose, and keep my heart ready for the day You return.

May 7th – 2 Peter 3:9

2 Peter 3:9

When we see the amount of injustice in the world and how it grows everyday, we can feel frustrated. We cry out, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” And we wonder why He delays His intervention and His magnificent return. Yet Peter reminds us that God’s patience isn’t a sign of indifference but rather an expression of His mercy. For in His great love, just as He waited for us to receive His grace, He patiently waits for all others. Giving everyone the chance to hear and receive the Good News of Jesus Christ. So as we await the return of our Savior, may we use this opportunity to purify our own hearts and lives, aligning ourselves with His will and striving for righteousness. May we humble ourselves before the Lord and turn aside from our own wickedness. And let us confess our sins with sincerity, seeking God’s grace to transform us from within. As we prepare for the day of His coming, may we be found blameless and pure, eagerly anticipating the fulfillment of the Lord’s promises with hearts fully surrendered to His love.

April 27th – Zechariah 10:1

Zechariah 10:1

We are living in violent, angry, and turbulent times. Where love, unity, and understanding are in short supply. Yet as the days grow more evil, they won’t always be so. Zechariah 10:1 foretells of the coming of spring rains, a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of injustice that plagues our world. Right now, everywhere we look we see the flames of injustice burning bright, casting shadows of despair upon our hearts. We cry out, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” And come He will. One day very soon, Christ will come for His bride. And on that day, God’s justice will descend upon the earth, washing away the stains of injustice and bringing forth renewal and restoration. As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of spring, let us also eagerly await the day when God’s justice will rain down. Bringing healing to the broken, freedom to the oppressed, and righteousness to the land. May our hearts be filled with hope and courage, knowing that God is faithful to His promises and that His justice will prevail in the end.

April 9th – Romans 8:23

Romans 8:23

When it comes to the Lord’s return A.W. Tozer once said, “When He returns is not as important as the fact that we are ready for Him when He does return.” As sons and daughters of God, we are recipients of His divine promise. A promise of the triumphant return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many believe that we are indeed the last generation, and are living in the last days. So let us not falter in our vigil, but rather let our spirits soar with fervent expectation, anchored in the unwavering hope of His grace. With patient endurance, steadfast and resolute, may we navigate the trials of this life, knowing that our redemption draws near. For in the darkest hour when shadows loom large and the attacks of the Enemy relentless, it is our faith that sustains us, and our hope that guides us through the trials. So with a united voice may we cry out, “Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!” And with heads held high and hearts ablaze, may we stand firm. Because the day of our Lord’s return draws ever closer, and in His promise we find our comfort and our strength.

2 Peter 3:9

As the world grows darker, I find myself crying out more often, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” Because it’s hard for me to understand why He waits. But thankfully, my timing isn’t God’s. And His patient desire for all to come to repentance and receive His gift of eternal life, speaks of His awesome love and gift of change and second chances. It reveals a compassionate Creator who offers the blessings of time and opportunities for transformation. This invites us to embrace change not only in ourselves but in others. All with the understanding that God’s patience grants second chances to every seeking heart. It’s a call to navigate life with hope. Knowing that each moment presents a chance to turn towards God and receive the grace of a second opportunity. November 7th – Hebrews 10:37

Hebrews 10:37

With the state of the world today, I find myself crying out, “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” Oh how I long to hear the sound of the trumpets! Yet although I wish the rapture happened right now, this very moment, I need to be patiently thankful. After all, Jesus waited for me to accept His generous offer of grace and salvation. His sacrifice on the cross was an act of immense love and patience, ensuring that all have the opportunity for redemption. How could I not have a heart of love and gratitude as I await His glorious return. God’s timing may not align with our own, but we must persist in our faith and trust. To allow hope and endurance to empower us to persevere through the trials and uncertainties of life. Because God is in control. And the fulfillment of His plans is certain, even if it seems delayed. In this waiting period, hope sustains us, and endurance strengthens our faith, reminding us that the rewards of our patient trust in God are worth the journey.

August 26th – Colossians 3:4

Colossians 3:4

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”

As followers of Jesus, our future is intertwined with His glorious return. That means because we are children of the most high God, we are destined to be transformed into the likeness of Christ Himself. Isn’t that amazing? One day we will be rid of these human, frail, and wicked bodies. And we will receive our new, perfect, glorified ones. Bodies that allow us to stand at the side of Jesus when He returns in all His glory. How can our hearts not be filled with hope and expectation with a promise like that! To appear with Jesus in His glory means that we will stand in the radiant light of His holiness. It’s a declaration of our ultimate victory over sin and death, and a testament to the redemptive power of Christ’s sacrifice. This truth inspires us to live with hope and purpose, keeping our eyes on the prize. A prize that should shape every aspect of our lives, and guide us toward the fulfillment of God’s divine plan. And one that keeps us crying out. “Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!”
