God always blesses our obedience. Look at Mary. When the angel of Gabriel came to this young woman telling her that she would soon become pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit, what did she do? She believed and obeyed. And because of her faithful actions, she received God’s great blessing of being the one to bring His precious Son into the world. The Lord wants to bless us as greatly as He did Mary. When we too believe and obey the Word of God, He promises to reward us in ways beyond which we could ever imagine!

Isaiah 7:14

Could you imagine the confusion of Israel when they heard the prophecy concerning the promised Messiah being born from a virgin? I’m sure they wondered how it could come about. But we know with God nothing is impossible. And the virgin birth of Jesus shows that Lord is without sin, pure, and holy. For our great Immanuel, meaning God with us, was not born from any man, but is the begotten Son of God. He joyfully and willingly came to this earth to become the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Luke 2:7

There is no greater example of love and humility than the manger in which Jesus lay. As almighty God, He came in the form not of a conquering King, but as a helpless baby. He exchanged His royal robes for simple cotton swaddling clothes, and left His heavenly throne to be placed in an animals feeding trough. There were no grand celebrations as He stepped into this world, instead He was attended to by simple shepherds, wisemen, and stable animals. And He did this out of His great love for the world and to offer salvation for all!

December 1st – Matthew 1:21

Matthew 1:21

Joseph was in turmoil. His fiancé, Mary, was pregnant and worse yet, claiming to still be a virgin. Wanting to send her away, Joseph was approached by an angel of the Lord telling him to instead take Mary as his bride. Now other men might have been scared away. But not Joseph. He obeyed God and as a result was blessed with the awesome job of caring for God’s only begotten Son; Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of the world. Oh how awesome is our Father in heaven who so richly blesses our obedience above anything we could ever imagine!
