Philippians 2:5

Relationships can be hard. People can hurt, disappoint, misunderstand us, and sometimes push every button we have. It’s easy to love people when they’re kind to us, but what about when they aren’t? That’s where Jesus becomes our example.

We are called to have the same attitude the Lord had. He didn’t put Himself first. He humbled Himself, showed compassion, extended grace, and loved people even when they didn’t love Him back. And isn’t that exactly how He treats us?

Jesus is patient with us when we fail. He forgives us when we repent, and gives us grace when we don’t deserve it. He doesn’t give up on us when we stumble. Instead, He meets us right where we are and continues to love us while He changes our hearts.

So when someone is hard to love, we need to pause and remember how much Jesus has loved us. We don’t have to respond the way the world responds. We don’t have to return hurt for hurt or anger for anger. Instead, we can choose humility, grace, and forgiveness. That doesn’t mean there won’t be boundaries or difficult conversations. It simply means that even in our hardest relationships, we’re called to reflect the One who has shown us how to love.

Colossians 3:13

Forgiveness isn’t always easy, especially when someone has hurt us deeply. But as followers of Jesus, we are called to practice patience, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Not because people deserve it, but because we have received these very things from Jesus.

Patience means giving others room to grow instead of expecting perfection. Grace means giving kindness when someone hasn’t earned it. Mercy means choosing compassion instead of giving someone what we think they deserve. And forgiveness means releasing the debt of the offense into God’s hands rather than continuing to carry it ourselves.

None of this means pretending the hurt didn’t happen or allowing someone to keep hurting us. Forgiveness doesn’t erase boundaries or make wrong things right. It simply means we refuse to let someone else’s actions fill our hearts with bitterness.

Think about how patient God has been with us. How many times has He forgiven us? How often have we fallen short and yet found His mercy waiting for us? We may not be able to change what someone did, but through Christ, we can choose what we do with the hurt. Let’s be quick to forgive, slow to anger, generous with grace, rich in mercy, and willing to give others the same patience God continually gives us.

September 9th – Ephesians 4:31

Ephesians 4:31

We are fallen people living in a fallen world, and no matter how hard we try, we all fall short. We hurt one another, say things we wish we could take back, and sometimes allow our emotions to lead us where they shouldn’t.

That’s why Paul tells us to get rid of bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, slander, and every form of malice. This world is already filled with enough hatred and hurt without us adding to it.

When we allow bitterness to take root, anger to grow, or resentment to settle into our hearts, we may think we’re holding onto what someone did to us, but we’re really allowing it to hold onto us. And it’s hard to be free when our hearts are filled with things God is asking us to release.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be better and to do better. Not because we’re perfect, but because we’ve been shown a better way. Jesus didn’t respond to hatred with hatred. He answered cruelty with love, rejection with grace, and sin with forgiveness.

We may not be able to change the wickedness around us, but we can choose what we add to it. Let’s lay down the bitterness, anger, and malice and let the character of Christ shine through us. In a world desperately searching for something better, may they see the better way in the way we live.

August 31st – Jude 25

Jude 25

Every day God keeps us, loves us, forgives us, and gives us grace, even though we fall short of Him in so many ways. We don’t earn His love by being perfect, and we certainly don’t deserve the mercy He continually pours over our lives. Yet He loves us anyway.

There are days when we say the wrong thing, think the wrong thought, make the wrong choice, or simply fail to be the person we know God has called us to be. And still, He doesn’t abandon us. He patiently picks us up, forgives us, and continues the work He began in us. That alone should humble our hearts.

We can give God thanks not because we have everything figured out, but because He is faithful even when we are not. His grace meets us in our weakness, His mercy covers our failures, and His love refuses to let go of us.

So today, let’s take our eyes off ourselves and put them back on Him. For the Lord is the One who keeps us, strengthens us, restores us, and carries us when we cannot carry ourselves.

All glory belongs to Him. For every answered prayer, every unseen protection, every second chance, every moment of mercy, and every day He gives us, thank You, Lord. May our lives continually point back to the One who loves us far more than we could ever deserve.

Lamentations 3:31

There are seasons in our lives when suffering can feel like it won’t never end. And when the pain continues day after day, it can be difficult to imagine life ever feeling happy again. But Lamentations 3:31 reminds us, “For no one is cast off by the Lord forever.” What a comforting promise for a weary heart.

Our circumstances may change, and difficult times may last longer than we would ever choose, but they aren’t forever. God’s love and mercy endure even in the darkest places. And when we can’t understand why He has allowed us to walk through something painful, we can still trust that He hasn’t abandoned us.

Sometimes God allows us to remain in a difficult season for reasons we can’t yet see. But He knows exactly how long it will last, and He will never lose sight of us while we are in it. Our suffering isn’t evidence that God has stopped loving us. His presence doesn’t disappear simply because we don’t feel it.

So if you’re hurting today, take heart. This season is not your forever. The God who sees every tear is still holding you, still working, and still pouring out His mercy. You may not know when the suffering will end, but you can trust that God does.

Hold on to Him through the waiting. And trust there’ll come a day when you look back and realize that even in the valley, you were never walking alone. His love sustained you, His mercy carried you, and His faithfulness brought you through.

Psalm 47:1

It’s easy to remember God when we need something. To come to Him with our requests, our worries, and our problems. And when He answers to thank Him. But God is worthy of our praise long before the answer comes.

We should praise Him simply because He is God. He is good, faithful, holy, merciful, and worthy of every breath we take. Even on the difficult days, we still have countless reasons to praise Him. We have been forgiven and redeemed. We have been called His own. And we have the incredible privilege of knowing the King of kings and Lord of lords. Not from a distance, but as our loving Father who invites us into relationship with Him.

Think about that for a moment. The God who created the heavens and the earth chose you. He knows your name, sees your life, hears your prayers, and loves you more deeply than you can comprehend. What an extraordinary reason to rejoice!

So let our praise become more than a response to answered prayers. Let it become a way of life. Praise Him when you’re celebrating and praise Him when you’re struggling. Praise Him when you understand and praise Him when you don’t. And praise Him with your words, actions, attitude, and with every breath He gives you. We don’t praise God because life is always good. We praise Him because He is always good.

July 27th – Lamentations 3:31

Lamentations 3:31

I once read that the silence of God can feel like rejection, but feelings aren’t  always truth. Even when you can’t feel His presence, He hasn’t abandoned you. The Father who disciplines you is still the Father who loves you, and His love never lets you go.

No one goes through this life without hardship, suffering, disappointment, or seasons of discipline. There are times when God allows us to walk through painful valleys, and there are times when He lovingly corrects us because we’ve wandered from His will. In those moments, it can be easy to wonder if God has turned away from us or if our suffering means He no longer wants us.

But Lamentations 3:31 reminds us that the Lord doesn’t cast off His people forever. His discipline is never rooted in malice, cruelty, or a desire to destroy us. Even when He allows grief, His heart is still filled with compassion and love. A loving Father disciplines His children for their good, not to push them away, but to draw them closer and guide them back to the right path.

His correction may hurt, but His love never does. His discipline is temporary, but His faithfulness is everlasting. So if you’re walking through a difficult season today, remember that your pain is not proof that God has abandoned you. He may be refining you, correcting you, or teaching you, but He hasn’t forgotten you. The same God who allows the valley is the God who walks through it with you. His heart is compassionate, His mercy is great, and His love will never let you go.

July 20th – Galatians 6:1

Galatians 6:1

We all fail, stumble, and fall short at times. Every one of us has weaknesses, and none of us is immune to temptation. Yet when we see someone else struggling, it’s easy to look at their sin and feel disappointed, frustrated, or even superior. But God’s Word reminds us that we are not called to stand above those who have fallen. Instead, we are called to help restore them.

Galatians 6:1 tells us to restore those who have fallen with gentleness. Because restoration isn’t about shaming or condemning someone. It’s about helping them find their way back to the Lord and the freedom found in His grace. But as we help others we must also watch ourselves, remembering that we too are capable of falling.

We should never approach someone else’s weakness with pride, but with humility, compassion, and an awareness of our own need for God’s mercy. We are all sinners saved by grace, and we all need forgiveness and restoration.

So may we be quick to extend grace, slow to judge, and willing to speak truth with love. And when  someone falls, may we not push them further away from Christ, but gently point them back to Him. Because the goal is never to prove we are better than someone else. The goal is to help one another keep our eyes on Jesus.

July 6th – Psalm 118:24

Psalm 118:24

Some days are harder than others. There are mornings when we wake up already carrying yesterday’s worries, and there are days that don’t go anything like we hoped they would. Life has a way of reminding us that not every day is easy, and not every day feels like a good one.

But Psalm 118:24 gently tells us that every day is still a gift from God. The fact that we opened our eyes this morning is evidence of His mercy. Every sunrise is another opportunity to start over, to leave yesterday behind, to make things right, to grow in our faith, and to become a little more like Christ.

I’m so thankful that God doesn’t expect perfection from me. He simply invites me to keep walking with Him. His mercies are new every morning, and His grace is always enough for whatever this day may bring.

We may not be able to choose our circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to them. We can choose gratitude instead of complaining, hope instead of discouragement, and trust instead of fear. Some days those choices are easier than others, but God faithfully walks beside us through them all.

So today, whether this day brings joy or challenges, thank God for the gift of another beginning. Every new day is another chance to get it right, another chance to love well, and another chance to experience His goodness and mercy. And that alone is reason to rejoice.

Lamentations 3:22-23

If I’m being honest, I have to admit there isn’t a single day where I don’t mess up. I say things I wish I hadn’t said. I have attitudes I need to surrender. And many times I fall short of the person God is calling me to be.

Becoming a Christian didn’t suddenly make me perfect. It simply made me aware of how much I need a perfect Savior. The Bible tells us that none of us are righteous. Not even one. And left to ourselves, we all miss the mark.

That’s why I love the promise in Lamentations 3. Every morning, God’s mercies are new. Every sunrise is another reminder that He hasn’t given up on me. Every day is another opportunity to confess my sins, turn back to Him, and start again. God doesn’t keep a record of every failure when we come to Him with a humble and repentant heart. He is faithful to forgive, to cleanse, and to extend grace that I could never earn.

I’m so thankful that my relationship with God isn’t built on my perfection but on His mercy. If it depended on me getting everything right, I’d fail every single time. But because of Jesus, I don’t have to live in yesterday’s mistakes. I can leave them at the foot of the cross, receive His forgiveness, and walk into a new day knowing His mercy is waiting for me once again. Great is His faithfulness.
