New Creation

January 3rd – 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17

As we step into this month of renewal and fresh beginnings, let us anchor ourselves in the foundational truth of being a new creation in Christ. For in Jesus, we are not defined by our past, our old ways of thinking, living, and behaving. Instead the Lord’s love breathes new life into our souls, offering a fresh start and rewriting the story of who we are. Being a new creation in Christ signifies a radical shift from a life of sin, to a life reconciled with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It not only redeems, but rejuvenates our very essence. God’s promise of becoming a new creation, is a testament to His boundless grace. One that extends beyond our past mistakes and shortcomings, and is a beautiful testament of His amazing love. In embracing this truth, we find ourselves standing on the threshold of a fresh start, a canvas wiped clean by the brushstrokes of God’s love. May this awareness of our newness in Christ inspire and guide us as we navigate the journey of renewal and beginnings in the days ahead.

May 18th – 1 Peter 1:23

1 Peter 1:23

Evangelist Henry Drummond said, “The Spiritual Life is the gift of the living Spirit. The spiritual man is no mere development of the natural man. He is a new creation born from above.” Our physically birth into this world doesn’t mean we are also born spiritually. Paul himself told us that we all start out dead in sin. (Eph. 2:1). It is God alone who makes us alive when we come to Him through faith in Christ. (Eph. 2:5–9) The minute we receive Jesus as our Savior, we become part of God’s family. And as His adopted children, we have been given some pretty amazing privileges and heirs to His promises. Even more wonderful, we receive a life altering transformation through the work of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. A new eternal nature which celebrates our new life in Christ, and the incredible hope and security we have as believers.

May 15th – Revelation21:5

Revelation 21:5

Some Christians shy away from the book of Revelation. They find the vivid imagery and symbolic language confusing, fictional, or too violent. But make no mistake. God calls us to read and take to heart the words the book contains. (Rev. 1:3) Because the Lord Himself promises that every one is trustworthy and true. And far from just containing doom and gloom, Revelation reveals the wonderful plans of God. Plans to renew and restore all of creation. To transform the world to its original perfection, including us. For in our new God given glorified bodies, we will dwell on the new earth in the new city of Jerusalem. One day soon the Lord will return. God’s promises will be fulfilled. Death and evil will be conquered forever. And as followers of Jesus, we get the great honor of ruling and reigning by His side forever as part of God’s perfect new creation.

May 11th – Ezekiel 11:19

Ezekiel 11:19

I used to be confused by Ezekiel 11:19. I mean I understood why God would remove our hearts of stone. But why would He replace them with hearts of flesh? After all, isn’t the flesh the very thing we fight against? Then I learned that when God speaks of a heart of flesh, He’s referring to a heart that is soft and receptive to His will. One that is eager and willing to obey and follow the Lord. And a heart that loves others with a true, Christlike love. That’s the heart I want. Which is why everyday, I pray for a heart transplant. For God to remove my wicked heart of stone, and replace it with the heart of Jesus. To make me a new creation in Christ, and to give me the power to live a life that glorifies Him. Why? Because I once read that our human hearts were created to mirror the heart of our Creator. And since the attributes of God’s heart include love, mercy, compassion, and justice, those are the attributes I want!

May 9th – 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17

In most mystery shows when the main witness testifies against the “big fish”, they enter the witness protection program. There they start a new life, in a new town with a new name. As Christians when we receive Jesus as our Savior, we enter God’s witness protection program. For we undergo a spiritual transformation making us a new person, with a new identity, and a new purpose in life. Gone is our old self and old identity with all of its sin and brokenness. And in its place, through the grace of God, is a glorious new self, empowered by the Holy Spirit. And as this new self, we are called to live a life that reflects our new identity in Christ. This includes growing in knowledge and love of God, pursuing holiness and righteousness, serving others, and witnessing to the world of God’s saving grace.
