December 29th – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

As we get ready to usher in a new year, we know the months ahead will be filled with their own set of challenges. Yet we can approach each one not with fear or despair, but with an unwavering trust in God’s sustaining power. And with a full confidence that although the waves may crash and the boat rock, we will not be swept away. For if we have a foundation built on faith in God, no storm of life can overcome us. No matter what the Enemy throws at us, or how hard he tries to destroy us, no plan of his will succeed. As a beacon in the night, Our Heavenly Father will be there guiding and protecting us through it all, His strength made perfect in our weakness. So bring on the new year! And as we encounter the uncertainties that it will may bring, let us face them with unwavering trust in God’s unfailing grace. For where there is trust, there is the promise of endless possibilities and unwavering hope.

December 28th – Romans 6:14

Romans 6:14

As the year draws to a close, looking back I can see the countless times I saw God’s hand at work in my life. And the many moments I experienced His wonderful favor. An unmerited, amazing grace, that sustained, comforted, and guided me. God’s grace is a beautiful expression of His awesome love that redeems and frees us. It’s a gift that transforms our lives. One that breaks the chains of sin and ushers in the freedom found only in Jesus. I love what Pastor Max Lucado says. “Grace is simply another word for God’s tumbling, rumbling reservoir of strength and protection. It comes at us not occasionally or miserly but constantly and aggressively, wave upon wave. We’ve barely regained our balance from one breaker, and then, before we can catch our breath, here comes another.” As we embrace the closing chapter of the year, may the grace we have received be a source of inspiration for extending the same grace to others. Entering this new year and new season with a spirit of compassion, forgiveness, understanding and love.

December 27th – Psalm 37:5

Psalm 37:5

As the curtain closes on 2023, people around the world are making their goals for the new year ahead. I myself am working on a vision board. A place where all my goals are together, and daily I am reminded of each one. When it comes to reflection and intention setting, Psalm 37:5 serves as a guiding light. For our greatest goal should be to commit everything to the Lord, and to trust Him in all things. God invites us to embark on the journey of the upcoming year with a heart surrendered to His guidance. And in the quiet moments of reflection, to ponder not only the aspirations and goals we set, but also to make sure those aspirations line up with God’s. As we commit our plans to the Lord, we acknowledge His wisdom, entrusting our path to the One who created the universe. In the canvas of the coming year, may our intentions be colored by trust, faith, and a genuine desire to walk in step with God’s unfolding plan. Always seeking His guidance, and making sure our goals are aligned with God’s purpose.

December 26th – Psalm 90:12

Psalm 90:12

As the year draws to a close, Solomon calls us to reflect on the past year. To take some time to look back at the highs, lows, good times and bad. And to ponder the lessons we learned, the challenges we overcame, and the growth we experienced. In this reflective pause, we see the fleeting nature of time and the shortness of our journey here on earth. And most of all we see the glory of God. Because through the ebb and flow of life, His unwavering faithfulness is always there as a comforting constant. So as we navigate the moments of our past year, may our reflections be not just a review of experiences, but a recognition of God’s steadfast presence, His grace in times of struggle, and His blessings in moments of joy. Psalm 90:12 is a guiding prayer, inviting us to seek wisdom in reflection and gratitude in acknowledging the faithfulness that has carried us through the the past year. So without forgetting what lies behind, may we all look forward to what’s coming ahead with the new year.

January 1st – Isaiah 43:19

Isaiah 43:19

There’s a quote by Aj Martinez which says, “January is the first month of a new year. It’s a time for new beginnings; to start fresh. May all His people see the Glory of the Lord and His Salvation; may they open their hearts and minds to His Ways and His Promises and be renewed.” I love how the new year is just bursting with new blessings and new possibilities! Time to leave the hurts and sorrows of the past year behind. Time to take a deep breath, and look forward to what God has in store for the future. For He is always at work taking all we experience and making something wonderful spring forth. The Lord has great plans for each of us, so we can head forth into the new year confident, hopeful, and thankful. So with a joyful heart we say goodbye to the old, and with anticipation, look to the new and amazing things God is doing!

December 29th – Philippians 2:5-8

Philippians 2:5-8

As we get ready to put 2021 behind us and move on to the new year, may we go in to it with the examples displayed by our Savior with His birth. Including humility, obedience, and the greatest of all, love. Jesus sat on His glorious throne in heaven, where He was surrounded by constant worship and praise. He wanted for nothing, and enjoyed perfect peace at the side of the Father. Yet willingly, He left it all behind to come to this wicked world and save us through His great love. In His humanity, Christ endured great suffering, even unto death on a Cross. He was rejected, ridiculed, and betrayed. And He suffered all of this to glorify God and to comfort and provide for us in all things. (Heb. 4:14-16) So as the new year brings with it a new start, may our resolutions, be filled with “Jesus goals”. Goals to be be better, do better, and have an “attitude in yourselves which was also in Jesus Christ.” (Phil. 2:5)
