Perfect Love

February 19th – 1 John 4:18

1 John 4:18

While we know that God’s perfect love has the power to cast out all fear, that doesn’t mean we won’t have times of feeling afraid. And those times don’t make us bad Christians, or mean we’ve failed God. Instead, they mean that we’re human. And all fall short daily. But in those times when fear and doubt creep in, we can find comfort knowing despite our fears, God’s love remains steadfast. Ready and able to cast out even the darkest of shadows and bring us back to a place of peace and security. In His embrace, fear is powerless, its grip loosened by the unwavering assurance of His presence. For where His love resides, there is no room for fear to dwell. Because it’s eclipsed by the brilliance of His grace. With each heartbeat synchronized to the rhythm of His love, we are emboldened to face the trials of life with unwavering courage. For He who is Love itself, walks beside us. And in the radiance of His perfect love, we find refuge, our hearts emboldened to embrace the journey ahead with faith and fortitude.

September 24th – 2 peter 3:4

2 Peter 3:4

Throughout history people have denied the existence of God, and scoffed at His Word. They reject His gift of salvation calling it folly, and ridicule those who follow Him. His holy name should be spoken with reverence, fear, and love. Yet even by Christians, it’s used as a form of cursing and thrown around like just another word. And when warned of the soon return of Jesus, many fearlessly mock the message. But those who dare scoff at God and profane His name would do well to not mistake His patience for weakness. A patience stemming from His perfect love and desire that everyone would receive the chance to accept His gift of salvation. (2 Pet. 3:9 ) But make no mistake. God will not wait forever. The day of the Lord will come, and on that day all will bow before Him. (Phil. 2:10–11) Jesus is returning soon. Upon His glorious appearance, the truth will no longer be denied, scoffers will forever be silenced, and all will say, “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name!” (Mat. 6:9)

September 5th – Proverbs 8:13

Proverbs 8:13

What if I told you that fear is a sin? How? Because at the root of fear is pride, and we know what God thinks about pride. Pride submits to no one, grasping at control, and thinking we ourselves know best. And it’s the same with fear. When we let fear dictate our actions, we’re telling God we trust more in our own feelings than in His promises. But through humility and faith, we can knock fear off the throne in our lives. Humility is never an easy pill to swallow. Because admitting we are wrong, being vulnerable, and submitting is hard. But when we come to God with a truly humble heart, He doesn’t say, “I told you so.” Instead He welcomes us with open arms, inviting us to draw near to Him. To safely shelter in His impenetrable tower of power, mercy, and wisdom. And when we put our faith in His perfect love and promises, we have no room to be afraid. For, as 1 John 4:18 tells us, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out fear.
