Psalm 27:14

Did you know that on average, people spend about 7,000 hours waiting in line over their lifetime? That’s nearly 292 days spent waiting. And if you’re at all like me, you don’t enjoy it. Because we want answers now, solutions now, and prayers answered now. Waiting can feel frustrating, uncomfortable, and sometimes even discouraging.

Yet Psalm 27:14 reminds us that there is a difference between waiting in line and waiting on the Lord. Time spent waiting on God is never wasted. Because while we’re waiting, God is working. He’s preparing hearts, opening doors, closing others, teaching us to trust Him, and strengthening our faith in ways we may not see at the moment.

If we’re honest, we’d often rather have God’s answers than His process. But some of the greatest growth in our lives happens in the waiting. It’s there that we learn patience, perseverance, dependence, and trust. The waiting room of God’s will is never a wasted place, because He’s always accomplishing something good.

If you find yourself waiting today, whether it’s for direction, healing, restoration, provision, or an answered prayer, take heart. God’s delays are not His denials. He has not forgotten you. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep walking by faith. The God who called you to wait is the same God who promises to strengthen your heart while you do.

2 Timothy 1:7

Every new year, resolutions are made with hopeful hearts, yet statistics tell us that nearly 43% are abandoned by February. Often, it isn’t a lack of desire that causes us to quit. Instead, it’s fear, discouragement, and self-doubt that creep in when progress feels slow. Paul speaks directly to this struggle in 2 Timothy 1:7, reminding us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The same divine power that flowed through Jesus as He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and even walked on water now resides within us through the Holy Spirit. That power is not distant or withheld. It’s offered to us daily, waiting with an outstretched hand. But overcoming fear is a two person operation. God provides the strength. But we are called to actively use the sound mind He has given us by practicing self-control. That means intentionally taking hold of our thoughts. And then filtering them through the truth of God’s Word instead of the lies the enemy whispers. When we partner with God in this way, fear loses its grip and perseverance takes its place.

What fears or negative thought patterns tend to derail your commitments, and how can you intentionally filter them through God’s truth instead of believing the enemy’s lies?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank You for giving me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. When fear and doubt rise up, help me recognize them and bring my thoughts into alignment with Your truth. Teach me to partner with You by using the self-control You provide, so I may walk forward with confidence, perseverance, and faith. Amen.

Romans 5:3-4

Trials have a way of wearing us down. They test our patience, stretch our faith, and sometimes leave us wondering if we’ll ever see the other side. But in God’s hands, even the hardest struggles are never wasted. Each trial becomes a tool He uses to shape us. To teach us endurance when we feel like giving up, and building character when our faith is refined in the fire. And from that character, hope begins to grow. A hope that doesn’t depend on circumstances, but on God’s unchanging promises. Looking back, many of us can see how the things we once thought would break us actually made us stronger and drew us closer to Him. It’s not that the pain wasn’t real, because it was. But God used it for something greater than we could have seen at the time. Hope born out of trials is steady, unshakable, and deeply rooted in the truth that God is faithful. So when difficulties come, we don’t have to despair. We can trust that He is writing a bigger story, one where every tear and every trial is planting seeds of endurance, character, and a lasting hope that will not disappoint.

Week 4 – Wisdom In Trials (James 1:2-4)

As parents, we understand the importance of guiding our children through the challenges and growing pains they face. We nurture them, knowing that the hard times will help them mature and become stronger. In the same way God, our Heavenly Father, guides us through the trials and tribulations that come our way. Because He knows the hard times help us to mature and refine our faith. James 1:2-4 reminds us that the purpose of the testing of our faith is to produce perseverance. Perseverance is needed to shape us into people of patience and wisdom. And just as we comfort and encourage our children, God walks with us through difficult times, using them to build our character and reliance on Him. Through these challenges, we learn endurance, and our faith grows, making us mature and complete, not lacking anything. Though trials are tough, they are a part of our spiritual development, just as life’s challenges are essential for our children’s growth.

  1. How can we shift our perspective to view challenges as opportunities for growth in our faith and character?

Week 2 – Finding Hope In God (Romans 5:1-5)

The peace we have through our Lord Jesus Christ, gives us access to God’s grace. A grace which fills us with a hope that doesn’t put us to shame. Life is full of moments when we fail, mess up, and suffer, and it’s easy to feel like we’re falling short. But even in our weaknesses and mistakes, our hope remains unshaken. Why? Because it isn’t rooted in our own perfection, but in God’s unwavering love for us. Through faith, we are justified and embraced by a love that is far greater than our shortcomings. This hope is not a fragile wish but a confident expectation that God’s grace will carry us through. It assures us that our sufferings are not in vain but produce perseverance, character, and deeper faith. We can hold onto this hope, knowing that it will never disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Even when we falter, this hope stands firm, reminding us that God’s love for us is constant and unbreakable. Guiding us forward with assurance and peace.

Week 2 – Finding Hope in God (Isaiah 40:31)

Day-to-day life can truly wear us down. The constant trials, challenges, and the rollercoaster of emotions, can take a toll on our souls. No wonder so many people feel exhausted and drained. And as the days grow closer to the Lord’s return, things will only become harder. That’s why it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the demands of life. But for those of us who place our hope in the Lord, there is a promise of renewal. When we lean into God’s strength, He empowers us to keep going, even when we feel we can’t take another step. We find ourselves able to run through life’s challenges without tiring, and to walk through its difficulties without growing faint. This strength doesn’t come from within us, but from the Lord. For He lifts us up and carries us like eagles soaring high above the storms. By hoping in Him, we are equipped to face each day with resilience and endurance, knowing that His power is at work in us, refreshing our spirits and giving us the energy to persevere.

  1. How can we intentionally place our hope in the Lord daily, allowing Him to renew our strength when life’s challenges leave us feeling weary and overwhelmed?

James 1:2-3

James challenges us to rejoice during times of trials. Say what!? This perspective seems counterintuitive, but trials offer unique opportunities for growth and a deeper relationship with God. They refine our character, shaping us to be more Christ-like and resilient. Through difficulties we learn to rely on God’s strength rather than our own, fostering a profound sense of trust and dependence on Him. This reliance builds perseverance, teaching us to endure and overcome, which in turn produces spiritual maturity. Embracing this perspective allows us to see trials not as obstacles, but as catalysts for inner transformation. They redirect our focus to what truly matters, our faith and God’s unfailing love. This shift in outlook allows us to find joy in trials knowing that God is actively working in us and through us, even in adversity. By facing trials with a mindset of growth, we find joy in the process of becoming more aligned with God’s will, bringing us closer to the fullness of life that He promises.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

If you ask people what love means, you’d get many different definitions. But the only one which is genuine and true, is the one the apostle Paul gives. He tells us love is patient and kind, not envious, boastful, or proud. Love does not dishonor others, nor is it self-seeking or easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs and does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. This teaches us that true love is enduring and resilient. It always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. Paul’s description of love serves as a guide for how we should treat others, and the importance of selflessness, humility, and forgiveness. It challenges us to be patient with those around us, showing kindness even when it’s difficult. To let go of grudges and to find joy in honesty and integrity. Love, as Paul describes it, is a commitment to the well-being of others, reflecting the love that Christ has for us. By embodying these characteristics, we not only strengthen our relationships but also bear witness to the transformative power of God’s love in our lives.

2 Corinthians 4:18

As Christians, we are called to have eyes that focus on the eternal promises of God. With faith as our lens, seeing the unseen and trusting in His unchanging truth. As we await the return of Jesus, let us fix our eyes on the eternal glory that awaits us. For though the troubles of this world may be many, they are but temporary shadows compared to the radiant light of God’s kingdom. So let us not lose heart in the face of adversity. Instead let us focus on the unseen realities of His eternal realm. Because in that beautiful and glorious kingdom, treasures beyond our comprehension await us. Treasures that far outweigh any present suffering we may endure. In light of that truth, may we press on with faith and perseverance, knowing that our current trials are but a passing moment in the grand scheme of eternity. For the glory that will be revealed in us surpasses all earthly pain and hardship. Therefore, let us eagerly anticipate the day when we will be united with Jesus forever, basking in the fullness of His love and glory for all eternity.

Ecclesiastes 7:8

Sometimes we only see the true worth of a journey at its conclusion. Because it’s only then we can look back and see how the hand of God was at work. And while beginnings hold a wonderful promise, it’s often the lessons we learn and the growth we experience along the way that make the end more valuable than the start. That why Solomon reminds us of the wisdom in embracing the process of change, no matter how long it takes. For just as the repeated lapping of the water slowly shapes a precious stone, or the gradual growth from a small sapling to a mighty oak, change requires patience and perseverance. But we can rest assured that the outcome will be worth it. Because when we rely on God and trust in His timing, the patience we exhibit will bring a harvest of blessings beyond our imagination. So in the journey of change, let us anchor our faith in God’s promises. And know that the destination He leads us to will always be better than we anything we could have ever dreamed.
