Philippians 1:4

Colossians 4:4

“Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.”

It’s a big responsibility to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul knew that false teachers were making the rounds using trickery and deception to confuse young believers about the scriptures. So the apostle asked for prayers that his sharing of the Good News be done correctly and clearly. Because never should the Word of God be twisted into the meaning we want. Instead all Christians should follow the rule that when the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense, lest it result in nonsense. That’s why Christians should pray for all fellow Christians. For we we all commanded to share the gospel. And praying for each others reminds us that as believers we are divinely connected. And prompts to uplift one another in our individual callings. It’s a powerful reminder that our unity in Christ extends beyond physical boundaries and allows us to participate in the global mission of spreading God’s love and truth to all corners of the world.

Colossians 4:12

“Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.”

So often when we hear of another’s troubles the first thing we say is, “Sending prayers.” But how often do we actually stop what we’re doing in that moment and petition the Lord? When it comes to helping others, one of the most powerful things we can do is to pray. To fervently intercede for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. For it is a powerful expression of love, unity, and solidarity within the body of Christ. We all have a spiritual walk. And by lifting each other up in prayer, we participate each other’s spiritual journeys, offering support, encouragement, and healing. The gift of prayer is a powerful gift of communication between us and God. And we are to use it often, coming before Him for not only ourselves, but each other, with the hopeful expectation that He will answer every petition. Through our prayers, we not only connect with God but also create a network of care and empathy. One that transcends distances and differences, embodying the unity and love that characterize the body of Christ.

Psalm 21:13

When someone hurts us, it’s in our nature to want to retaliate. To make them feel, not only the same, but worse pain than they caused us. But instead of encouraging revenge or getting even, God demands something unfair, undoable, and unjust. Not only does He want us to leave the punishing to Him, but He expects us to forgive our enemies. And most infuriating of all, to pray blessings into their lives. But how do we do that when what we want is vengeance? Through the power of the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.” The power of God allowed David to rule as king, defeat his enemies, and experience victory over trials. And that same power allows us to forgive others, restore broken relationships, and have hearts overflowing with grace and mercy instead of dried and hardened from bitterness and revenge.
