Proverbs 3:3

When life feels hard, what want most is to be treated with kindness and understanding. But Proverbs 3:3 reminds me that these are the very things I should be giving to others, too. I need to give grace when someone disappoints me. And choosing kindness when I’m frustrated.

Living in truth means being honest, keeping my word, and letting God’s Word guide the way I live. I’ll be honest, I don’t always get this right. Sometimes my feelings get the best of me, or I find it harder to show mercy  when Ive been hurt.

But I don’t want the way others treat me to determine the kind of person I am. I want God to keep working on my heart. I want Him to help me respond with love instead of frustration, and understanding instead of judgment.

With so much anger and division in our world today, I think we could all use a little more mercy and truth. My prayer is that God continues to shape my heart so that the kindness I show, the words I speak, and the way I treat others reflect Him.

Proverbs 3:3

I think we all want to be treated with kindness, understanding, and honesty. Especially on the days when life feels hard. But God’s Word reminds us that these are the very things we should be giving to others, too. Showing mercy means being willing to give grace when someone disappoints us. And choosing kindness when we could respond in frustration, remembering that we all have struggles others may know nothing about.

Living in truth means being honest, keeping our word, and letting God’s Word guide the way we live. Of course, this isn’t always easy. Sometimes people hurt us, patience wears thin, and our first reaction isn’t always the one that honors God. But that’s why we need Him to keep working in our hearts.

God wants mercy and truth to become more than words we read in the Bible. He wants them to show in the way we love, forgive, speak, and treat the people He places in our lives.

We may never know how much a little kindness or an honest word can mean to someone, but when we let God shape our hearts, even the smallest things can make a difference.

Proverbs 4:23

In ancient times, kings would have guards stationed around their most valuable treasures. Their job was to protect what was precious and keep thieves from getting inside, taking what mattered most.

Our hearts are precious too. Scripture tells us to guard them carefully because what takes root in our hearts eventually makes its way into our thoughts, words, attitudes, and actions. We have an Enemy who would love nothing more than to steal our peace, rob us of our joy, and fill our hearts with fear, bitterness, discouragement, and doubt.

But our hearts belong to Jesus. And we have been given something far more valuable than earthly treasure. The peace, joy, love, and hope that come from knowing we are His. And that’s worth protecting.

So today, let’s be mindful of what we allow through the gates of our hearts. Not every voice deserves our attention. Not every thought deserves a place to stay. And not everything we encounter needs to take root.

Guard what God has entrusted to you. Protect the peace He gives, hold tightly to His truth, and don’t let the enemy steal what Jesus died to give you.

September 18th – Proverbs 16:20

Proverbs 16:20

I love how simple this verse is, yet how much wisdom it holds. We live in a world that tells us to trust ourselves, follow our hearts, and figure things out on our own. But God’s Word reminds us that there is blessing in listening to His instruction and putting our trust in Him.

Trusting God isn’t always easy. Sometimes we want to know how everything is going to work out before we’re willing to take the next step. We want the answers, the plan, and reassurance that everything will be okay. But faith doesn’t work that way.

Trusting God means taking the next step even when we can’t see the whole road. It means listening to His Word when it goes against what we feel, and believing that His wisdom is greater than ours. Even when we don’t understand what He’s doing.

And I’ve learned that trusting God doesn’t mean life will always go the way I want it to. But it does means I don’t have to face whatever comes alone. So I will listen to His instruction. I will trust His heart, follow His lead, and leave the rest in His hands.

September 2nd – Proverbs 3:7

Proverbs 3:7

Before the invention of the internet if we wanted advice, we asked someone we trusted. Today we can reach thousands of opinions day or night with just a few taps on a screen. And everyone seems to know how we should live, what we should believe, and what choices we should make. But Proverbs 3:7 reminds us not to become wise in our own eyes. Because the world may have an answer, but it doesn’t mean it has the right answer.

And because something is popular doesn’t make it wise. For as Baptist missionary Adoniram Judson once said, “No mind, no wisdom, temporary mind, temporary wisdom, eternal mind, eternal wisdom.” What a powerful reminder that our understanding is limited, but God’s wisdom is eternal.

The world’s opinions will change. Trends will change. What people call “wisdom” today may be completely different tomorrow. But God’s Word doesn’t change. That’s why we need to be careful about whose voice we allow to shape our lives. We can listen to the world all day long, but there is only one voice that leads us into truth, and that is the voice of God.

When we don’t know what to do, we don’t have to search the internet for every answer. We can open God’s Word. We can pray. And we can both seek His wisdom and trust His direction. There is no greater wisdom than the wisdom that comes from the eternal God. So don’t be wise in your own eyes. Listen to Him, follow His Word, and let His wisdom guide your life.

August 6th – Proverbs 3:7

Proverbs 3:7

One of the hardest things for us to admit is that we don’t have all the answers. We like to think we know what’s best, that if we just try a little harder or figure things out on our own, everything will work out. But how often have our own plans left us frustrated, exhausted, or heading in the wrong direction?

Proverbs 3:7 gently reminds us, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.” God isn’t saying this to limit us. He’s saying it because He loves us. He knows that our perspective is so limited, while His wisdom sees the beginning, the middle, and the end.

There is something incredibly freeing about admitting that we don’t have to know everything. We don’t have to carry the weight of having all the answers because God already does. When we humbly submit our plans, decisions, and dreams to Him, we make room for His wisdom to guide us in ways we could never guide ourselves.

Recognizing our limitations isn’t a sign of weakness. Instead, it’s a sign of wisdom. It reminds us that we were never meant to live apart from God. We were created to walk with Him. To seek His direction, and trust His heart even when we don’t understand His plan.

Today, let go of the pressure to have everything figured out. Place your life in the hands of the One who never makes a mistake. His wisdom will always lead you to a life that is richer, fuller, and more pleasing to Him than anything you could accomplish on your own.

Proverbs 3:31

It’s easy to look around and wonder why people who lie, cheat, manipulate, or take advantage of others sometimes seem to prosper. They may gain wealth, recognition, or success, and for a moment it can feel unfair. But Proverbs reminds us not to envy those who choose the wrong path or imitate their ways.

The success of the wicked is only temporary. What looks like victory today can never compare to the lasting blessings that come from walking with God. A life built on dishonesty and selfish ambition eventually leads to emptiness, disgrace, and separation from the Lord.

Instead of admiring those who succeed through wrongdoing, we should celebrate those who quietly pursue lives of integrity, humility, and righteousness. They may not always receive the world’s applause, but they have something far greater. Which is the favor and blessing of God.

God sees every act of faithfulness, every honest choice, and every quiet sacrifice made for His glory. In His perfect timing, He will honor those who remain faithful to Him. So don’t compare your journey to those who seem to prosper by taking shortcuts. Keep walking the path of righteousness, because the blessings God has prepared for His children are eternal, and they far outweigh anything this world can offer.

Proverbs 22:6

On Father’s Day, we celebrate the incredible influence fathers have in the lives of their children. The world often measures success by careers, accomplishments, and possessions, but God reminds us that one of a father’s greatest callings is to lead his children toward Him.

The lessons children learn at home often stay with them for a lifetime. A father who prays with his children, teaches them God’s Word, lives out his faith, and points them to Jesus is planting seeds that can bear fruit for generations to come.

No father is perfect, and every dad has moments he wishes he could do over. Yet God does not call fathers to perfection. He calls them to faithfulness. The simple acts of loving, teaching, encouraging, correcting, and modeling a life devoted to Christ leave an impact far greater than most fathers will ever know.

Today, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and spiritual fathers who have faithfully invested in the next generation. Thank you for the prayers you’ve prayed, the sacrifices you’ve made, and the godly example you’ve set.

Your influence matters, and the seeds you plant today may continue growing long after you are gone. May God bless and strengthen every father as he seeks to leave a legacy that points others to Christ.

Proverbs 18:21

Most of us have heard the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” The problem is, it simply isn’t true. Broken bones eventually heal, but hurtful words can leave wounds that linger for years. Many of us can still remember things that were said to us long ago. Words that discouraged us, wounded our hearts, or made us question our worth.

God has given each of us the ability to influence others through our words. Every day we have a choice. We can use our speech to tear down or to build up, to criticize or encourage, to spread negativity or to share hope. Our words have the power to brighten someone’s day, strengthen a weary heart, or point someone closer to Christ.

In a world filled with division, anger, and harsh criticism, followers of Jesus are called to be different. We are called to speak with kindness, grace, and truth. This doesn’t mean we never speak hard truths, but it does mean we speak them with love. Before we speak, it is worth asking ourselves. “Will these words help or hurt? Will they encourage or discourage? Will they reflect the heart of Christ?”

Our words are a gift from God. May we use them wisely, choosing to uplift, encourage, and speak life into those around us. You never know when a simple word of kindness may be exactly what someone needs to hear.

Proverbs 20:24

Proverbs 20:24 reminds us that our steps are directed by the Lord, even when the world insists it knows a better way. Everywhere we turn, we are told who to be, what to have, how to look, what to wear, and how to define success. And those who don’t follow those expectations are often labeled misfits or pushed aside as unwanted. This constant pressure can leave us striving, exhausted, and feeling as though we never quite measure up. Yet true success is not found in doing more, becoming more, or accumulating more. Succeed is found in surrender. When we release our grip on the world’s plans and expectations and place our lives fully in God’s hands, we begin to walk in freedom rather than comparison. God’s ways may not always make sense to others. And the path He sets before us may look different than what the world applauds. But His plans are intentional, loving, and perfectly designed to lead us into a life of peace, purpose, and lasting fulfillment.

Reflection Question:
In what areas of your life are you still trying to meet the world’s expectations instead of fully surrendering to God’s direction?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me to release the pressure to measure up to the world’s standards and to trust You with my path. Teach me to surrender my plans, my identity, and my future into Your hands. Lead my steps according to Your will, and give me peace knowing that Your plans for my life are good, purposeful, and secure. Amen.
