Reconciled

January 3rd – 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17

As we step into this month of renewal and fresh beginnings, let us anchor ourselves in the foundational truth of being a new creation in Christ. For in Jesus, we are not defined by our past, our old ways of thinking, living, and behaving. Instead the Lord’s love breathes new life into our souls, offering a fresh start and rewriting the story of who we are. Being a new creation in Christ signifies a radical shift from a life of sin, to a life reconciled with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It not only redeems, but rejuvenates our very essence. God’s promise of becoming a new creation, is a testament to His boundless grace. One that extends beyond our past mistakes and shortcomings, and is a beautiful testament of His amazing love. In embracing this truth, we find ourselves standing on the threshold of a fresh start, a canvas wiped clean by the brushstrokes of God’s love. May this awareness of our newness in Christ inspire and guide us as we navigate the journey of renewal and beginnings in the days ahead.

August 14th – Colossians 2:14

Colossians 2:14

Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

We are all born sinners who need to be reconciled to our perfect and holy Creator. That’s why we must depend on Jesus. Because He is the only one who can cleanse us and prepare us to dwell in His house forever. On our own, there is nothing we can do to be good enough to stand before a righteous God. Our sin is too great, and our sentence is death. But because of His great love, our Father paid our sin debt Himself. God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, through whose death on the cross, became the perfect sacrifice and atonement. And it is only because of His shed blood can we receive forgiveness. A sweet forgiveness that restores our fellowship with God, and provides a path to eternal life. Once condemned, in bondage to sin, and separated from God, our Father took the perfect righteousness of His Son and put it on us. Why? To reconcile us back to Himself, and so we could experience the joy and freedom that comes with knowing our sins have been forgotten and the slate wiped clean!

January 2nd – 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17

No matter who we are or what we’ve done in the past, God is the God of fresh beginnings. For once we receive Jesus as our Savior, we experience a “new birth”.  And through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the old us becomes the new us, reconciled back to God, declared righteous, and eternally forgiven. The past is old and forgotten. And as new creatures of the Lord with new spirits and natures, we become heirs in His kingdom. No longer is our destiny death and destruction, but instead a heavenly one spent at the side of Jesus and in the presence of God forever!
