Rest

December 14th – Psalm 23:4

Psalm 23:4

One of the greatest things about Christmas is the peace we find having Jesus as our Shepherd. For He guides us through the valleys, leads us beside the still waters of His love, and wraps our hearts in the tranquil warmth of His eternal presence. That’s why amidst the festive chaos and twinkling lights of Christmas, Psalm 23:4 whispers a timeless invitation to find solace and peace in the comforting presence of Jesus. As we navigate the bustling holiday season, this verse reassures us that even in the shadows of life’s uncertainties, we need not fear. Because our Shepherd walks beside us. Christmas becomes a sacred pause, an opportunity to rest in the green pastures of His love and be overfilled with the comfort of His peace. In the embrace of the Christmas story, we find a Savior who is not only the beacon of hope but also the gentle Shepherd. And in the jingle of bells and the glow of lights, the holiday season whispers a melody of comfort, and in Jesus, our Shepherd, we find tranquility for every heart’s silent night.

September 16th – Genesis 1:16

Genesis 1:16

God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

I’m a star gazer. I love looking up at the night sky full of light. To see the stars twinkle, a meteor shooting across the sky, and the fullness of the moon, fill me with awe for our great Creator. And remind with of the intricacy in which God so loving and purposefully made our universe and everything in it. The sky and all it contains, serves as God’s reminder for us today. Just as these celestial bodies have distinct roles in governing our day and night, we can apply this concept to our own lives. It encourages us to recognize the importance of balance and order. We should strive to find equilibrium between the different aspects of our lives. Between work and rest, responsibilities and play, and light and darkness. Why? Because balance between our spiritual, personal, and worldly responsibilities helps us to better reflect God’s love. It equips us to serve others with compassion, and maintain the strength needed to face life’s challenges while also nurturing our relationship with God.

Matthew 11:30

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

The constant hustle and bustle, the pressure to meet expectations, and the pursuit of success can take a toll on our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is in these moments of exhaustion that the words of Jesus in Matthew offer solace and guidance. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” In these simple yet profound words, Jesus invites us to turn to Him. Because in the midst of life’s frantic pace, Jesus offers us a refuge. He’s our source of strength and renewal. And reminds us that true rest and rejuvenation are found in a deep and abiding relationship with Him. January 19th – Job 11:18

Job 11:18

The world today is in great need of hope. Everywhere we turn, we are inundated by news of tragedy, horror, and violence. As in the days of Noah, (Luke 17:26-27) people are openly sinning against God with no fear of the consequences. And although Christians around the world are sounding the alarm of the Lord’s soon return, the world mocks the message and the messengers. Yet as the world spins out of control, and people panic over the darkened days, we as followers of Christ have all we need to lead lives of encouragement and joy. For as Job 11:18 reminds us, “You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.” One day very soon God will pour out His judgements on this wicked and rebellious world. Yet we can rejoice because those who put their faith in Christ, will never taste the bitterness of His wrath.

December 27th – Matthew 11:28

Matthew 11:28

Are any of you weary and burdened? Like me, do you at times feel overloaded in your mind and in your spirit? Do your burdens manifest themselves in physical ways? When you go to bed at night, are you exhausted from the battles you fight each day? If so what you need is not physical rest, but soul rest. You need release from stress, worry, guilt, fear, and bitterness. This is soul rest. And soul rest can only be found in Jesus who offers it freely to all. From His unending love, the Lord makes each of us an incredible offer. If  you’re tired come to Me! I and I alone can give you the rest you so desperately crave! All of us need soul rest and Jesus promises to give it to us when we rest in Him. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” God doesn’t always keep the burdens from our lives, but through Jesus He offers the perfect refuge!

April 3rd – Exodus 33:14

Exodus 33:14

It’s a busy world out there. With work, families, and life in general, no wonder we get anxious, stressed, and tired. And that’s the condition our Enemy likes us best. Because usually it’s when we are at our most vulnerable. Which is why it’s so important for us to take time to rest. Physical rest, but also soul rest. We rest our souls by spending time with God. That includes reading His Word, prayer, and seeking His presence. God Knows the rest we need. And when we come to Him, we will find relaxation, peace, and restoration; everything we need to conquer the Enemy. And everything we need to not just survive, but thrive in a chaotic world! So no matter how busy your day, I urge to take a moment to truly rest in God’s presence.

August 7th – Psalm 147:3

Psalm 147:3

During the pandemic, we gained a new appreciation for health care workers. Those who everyday answered the call to help the suffering. As Christians, we have the greatest frontline worker of all, God. He is on call 24-7 ready, willing, and able to rush to the rescue of all who call upon Him for help. And there is no injury, beyond His healing. No matter what hurts, God can bind the injury, and ease the pain. He is our Father in heaven who loves us with an unfathomable and unending love. And when His children hurt, He wants us to come to Him,  o appointment needed! To trust in His love, grace, and ability to cure our minds, bodies, and spirits, of all wounds. When we turn to Him, God will wrap us in His arms of love and mending. He will give us rest and recuperation. And best of all, His mending leaves no scar, is free of charge, and leaves us better off than we were before we were hurt!

Rest in Jesus – (Matthew 11)

Matthew  11

“Life is difficult for everyone; everyone has bad days. Everyone has trouble in their life because it doesn’t matter how rich you are, sickness, trouble, worry, and love; these things will mess with you at every level of life.” …Domhnall Gleeson

Sometimes it seems life has a way of kicking us when we’re down. And just when we think we can’t get any lower, we get kicked again. Setbacks, failure, and tragedy are a part of life. No matter who you are, there’s no way around it. But even in our times of deepest despair, we can can find comfort and rest through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. …
