Sacrifice

April 15th – 1 John 1:7

1 John 1:7

I love the quote by Dodi  Smith which says, “I suppose the best kind of spring morning is the best weather God has to offer.” There’s nothing better than a spring dawn overflowing with sunshine. So as the days grow longer and the light shines brighter, let us heed the call of John to walk in the light of Christ. For it’s in His radiance, we find guidance, clarity, and the path to righteousness. May we embrace His divine light, allowing it to permeate every aspect of our lives. In fellowship with one another, let us share in the warmth of His love, strengthening and uplifting each other along the journey. And let us recognize the profound sacrifice of Jesus, as His blood cleanses us from all sin. Because it’s through His redemptive act that we find restoration, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life. As we bask in the light of His grace, may our hearts be filled with gratitude and our spirits renewed with hope. Let us walk confidently in His light, knowing that in Him, we find true freedom and everlasting peace.

Easter is the pinnacle of the Christian calendar. And it’s a celebration of profound significance and joy. Because it commemorates the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ from the dead, three days after His crucifixion. This miraculous event stands as the cornerstone of our faith. March 29th – Mark 9:31

Mark 9:31

Good Friday is a day of profound bittersweetness. On one hand it marks the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, a moment of immense sorrow and pain as the Son of God suffers the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. The brutality and injustice of the crucifixion evoke deep emotions of grief and anguish, as we contemplate the magnitude of Jesus’ suffering and the weight of our own sins. Yet, amid the darkness and despair of Good Friday, there is also a glimmer of hope. Because it’s through Jesus’ sacrificial death that redemption and salvation are made possible. The bitter agony of the cross is intertwined with the sweet promise of God’s unfailing love and grace. The sacred day reminds us that even in the midst of suffering, Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end of the story. It’s a prelude to the joyous resurrection of Easter Sunday, when death is conquered and new life begins. Good Friday is a day where sorrow and joy, death and life, are intimately intertwined, reminding us of the profound depths of God’s love and the beautiful promise of eternal redemption.

March 28th – Luke 22:44

Luke 22:44

As we celebrate Christ, His death and resurrection, one of the most painful parts of the story is the Garden of Gethsemane. For it was there when the weight of all our Savior was about to endure overcame Him. Such was His anguish, that His soul was overwhelmed to the point of death. And falling upon His face, three times Jesus prayed that if possible, God would remove the cup from which He was to drink. There will be times when we will find ourselves face down in our own Garden of Gethsemane. When God permits suffering and we are pressed spiritually to the point of agony. It’s then when we need to follow the example of our Lord. First, in fervent prayer we are to cry out to our Abba, Father. Emptying before Him our hearts filled with fear and sorrow. And when His answer is for us to endure, we are to humbly submit before God saying, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Drinking the cup of suffering is never easy. But we need to trust that God’s plans are always best, and used for both our benefit and His glory.

March 26th – Matthew 24:3

Matthew 24:3

The Mount of Olives was a special place in the life of Jesus. It was there He made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where His dear friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus lived, and where He was betrayed by Judas. So how poignant is it that while Jesus stood on the Mount of Olives, teaching the multitudes about love, mercy, and the Kingdom of God, that He would soon bear the weight of humanity’s sins in that very place. The serene backdrop of the sermon starkly contrasts with the agony Jesus would endure amidst the gnarled olive trees, sweating drops of blood as He faced the impending crucifixion. The same hill that bore witness to His teachings would become a symbol of His ultimate act of love and obedience to the Father. It serves as a beautiful reminder that even in the depths of suffering, there is hope. Because it was on that hill that Jesus willingly surrendered Himself for the salvation of humanity. And through His sacrifice we have the gift of an eternity spent by His side.

1 Corinthians 15:57

From far being a tale of tragedy, Paul reminds us of the incredible victory we have in Christ through His resurrection from the dead. Jesus’ triumph over sin and death on that glorious Easter morning is the ultimate demonstration of His power and love for humanity. Through His sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection, Jesus conquered the forces of darkness, securing our salvation and offering us eternal life. A power provided by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who takes residence inside us the moment we confess Jesus as Lord. March 18th – Ephesians 1:11

Ephesians 1:11

In Ephesians 1:11, we are reminded of the unfathomable riches of God’s grace poured out upon us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His blood, shed on the cross, serves as the ultimate payment for the forgiveness of our sins and the restoration of our broken relationship with God. Impossible to do on our own, through Christ, we are redeemed, reconciled, and adopted as our heavenly Father’s beloved children. This divine act of love demonstrates the incomprehensible depths of God’s mercy and the boundless extent of His forgiveness. As we reflect on the magnitude of Jesus’ sacrifice, our hearts overflow with gratitude for His amazing grace. March 15th – Romans 15:13

Romans 15:13

One of the apostle Paul’s deepest longings was that we as believers, experience the fullness of joy and peace that comes from the hope we have in Christ. A hope that is the very essence of Easter. When Christians around the world celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection, and the hope it brings for the future. For in Jesus we find assurance in the unyielding faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, who demonstrated His boundless love through the sacrificial death and triumphant Resurrection of His Son. Giving us a hope that isn’t fleeting or just wishful thinking. Instead it’s a steadfast confidence in the victory of Christ over sin and death, ensuring our redemption and eternal fellowship with God. A hope that sustains us in times of trouble, and one that reminds us how nothing can separate us from the love of God. A love manifested through Christ Jesus our Lord. So as we embrace the hope of Easter, may our hearts overflow with joy and peace, knowing that our future is secure in the hands of our faithful Savior.

March 14th – 1 Corinthians 1:18

1 Corinthians 1:18

In this verse in 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul highlights the great paradox of the world. How the Cross and the sacrifice of Jesus, seems like nonsense to unbelievers. But to those of us who follow Christ, it’s the power of God unto salvation. So while the concept of a crucified Savior is confounding to the foolish of the world, to Christians, the Cross holds the profound truth of redemption and transformation. Through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the Cross, we find forgiveness for our sins, healing for our brokenness, and reconciliation with God. The Cross isn’t just a symbol of suffering. It is also the awesome and ultimate demonstration of God’s love and grace. As we meditate on the power of the Cross, let us surrender every area of our lives to its transformative influence. May we embrace the forgiveness and freedom that it offers, allowing it to shape our thoughts, actions, and desires. And may its power, and the sacrifice of our Lord, be the cornerstone of our faith and the foundation of our hope.
