Matthew 25:23

Faithfulness doesn’t always look impressive. Instead, it’s often woven quietly into the fabric of our everyday lives. A good and faithful servant is one who keeps showing up, even when it’s hard. Who prays when no one’s listening, forgives when it hurts, gives when it costs, and loves when it’s not returned. Jesus said, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and those are the words our hearts long to hear one day. What makes a servant good and faithful isn’t perfection, it’s perseverance. It’s trusting God in the unseen, obeying Him in the small things, and remaining steady when the world grows weary. God notices the quiet sacrifices, the unseen acts of kindness, and the heart that serves with joy. What feels ordinary to us is holy to Him. So we keep walking, loving, and believing, because every small step of faith is shaping something eternal. And one day, when we see His face, every act of obedience will shine with glory.

1 Peter 2:16

Peter warns us against misusing the freedom given to us by God to justify sinful behavior. For true freedom in Christ comes with the responsibility to live righteously. When we claim our liberty in Christ, it’s not a license to sin or to excuse actions that go against God’s commands. To do so means we don’t understand what it means to be a free servant of God. Instead of masking evil with the guise of freedom, we are called to live as slaves of God, demonstrating His righteousness and love through our actions. Similarly, submission to human authorities must be with our higher allegiance to God’s moral law. Just because a law permits or even mandates certain actions doesn’t mean they align with God’s will. True freedom involves discerning and obeying God’s principles above all, even when it contradicts societal or governmental demands. By living out our freedom in service to God, we reflect His character and uphold His standards, ensuring our choices honor Him rather than exploit His grace.

Matthew 25:21

I long to see so many things when I get to heaven. Most of all to behold the face of my beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. And what my heart would burst to hear is my Lord saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” In Matthew 25:21, we are reminded of the critical importance of faithful stewardship as we await Jesus’ return. Our Master commands us to wisely use our time, talents, and resources, investing them in the work of God’s kingdom. As we labor in service to the Lord, we are called to maximize what He has entrusted to us, whether great or small. Each day is an opportunity to sow seeds of faith, kindness, and generosity, working for God’s eternal harvest. And obedience to our calling is both a reflection of our love for the Lord and our commitment to His purposes. So let us not grow weary or lose heart. For no efforts are never in vain when done for His glory. And one day we will hear those cherished words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Matthew 26:26-28

Holy communion is a sacred union with our Lord. It’s a reminder of His sacrifice and a call to live in His love and grace. Jesus Himself was the Author of the divine practice of communion, using bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood given for us. This act holds profound significance, representing the sacrificial nature of His death on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. As Jesus offers the bread and wine to His disciples, He demonstrates humility and servanthood by washing their feet. He perfectly  exemplifies the selfless love and servant leadership He calls us to emulate. Through the breaking of bread and sharing of the cup, Jesus invites us to partake in His sacrifice, reminding us of His ultimate act of love and redemption. Communion is not only a symbolic remembrance but a tangible experience of Christ’s presence among us. One that invites us to humble ourselves, serve others with love, and follow His example of sacrificial love and servant-hearted leadership in our lives.

James 1:1

We all know people who are slaves to the grind, or a slave to love. But not James. James is a slave of God and the Lord, Jesus Christ. Serving his beloved Savior not in bondage, but in a liberating devotion. Finding purpose, joy, and fulfillment in serving the One whose love set him free. I want to be a James. I want to change from being a casual follower of Jesus to a dedicated servant. But the call to be a slave to Jesus involves a profound commitment. It means being willing to relinquish control and allow our faith to bear fruit. James invites us to not merely believe, but to become active participants in a faith journey that yields the fruits of love, obedience, and a life surrendered to Jesus. It prompts us to reconsider the nature of our faith and invites us to make intentional changes. Ones that result in a more profound and fruitful connection with our Savior. The joy of being a slave to Jesus is found in surrendering to His love and discovering true freedom in His grace.
