I think most of us have been there. We believe in Jesus, we love Him, and yet there are moments when doubt creeps in. We have questions we can’t answer, fears we can’t explain, and circumstances that make us wonder what God is doing.

And sometimes, if you’re like me, you feel ashamed of those doubts. Because it feels as if questioning means our faith isn’t strong enough. But this father in Mark 9 reminds us that we don’t have to hide our struggles from Jesus. He believed, but he also had doubts. And Jesus didn’t turn him away.

We live in a world filled with opinions, one-sided news, manipulated images, and AI-generated content. So learning to question what we see and hear isn’t necessarily a bad thing. And it isn’t a sin to have questions about our faith. God isn’t offended when we come to Him with them. In fact, He invites us to bring them to Him.

So if your faith feels a little shaky today, don’t run from Jesus. Run toward Him and say what that father said. “Lord, I believe. Help me in the places where I struggle to believe.” He can handle our and doubts. And He will always meet us where we are.

Proof! Show us proof!” Those were the cries of some of the scribes and Pharisees after witnessing Jesus heal a blind and mute man. Their hardened hearts couldn’t accept in faith that Jesus was indeed their long awaited Messiah. Even though the scribes and Pharisees exhibited a wicked disbelief, a healthy skepticism can be a good thing. Especially when it comes to discerning those who claim to speak for God or to represent His Word. Jesus Himself warns, “For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.” (Matt. 24:5) Because of this God tells us to test everything against what the Bible says. To examine the scriptures and, “see whether these things were so.” (Acts 17:11) And why do we use the Bible as our “litmus test” of truth? Because we know that every word of Scripture was breathed by God. (2 Tim. 3:16) And every word is true and is the foundation of the Christian Faith!
