1 John 1:5

Many false religions teach that Jesus was many things, except God in the flesh. But the Bible is very clear. Only those who truly believe that Christ is the Messiah and that it is only though Him can we receive salvation, are His children. And as proof of our family membership, love should spilling out of every area of our lives. And that love should especially be prevalent for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. For John says that those claim to love God, but have no love for others is a liar. (1 John 4:20). Our Heavenly Father showed and continues to show unconditional, unending, love for His children. And as extensions of the Lord on this earth, we need to example that love in all we do. Because when we love with conditions, not only do we turn others away from Christ, we wound the heart of God. For it the wish of every parent for their children to love and care for each other with a true sibling devotion.

October 12th – Hebrews 2:10

Hebrews 2:10 

Some wonder how a loving God could send His only Son to die an excruciatingly painful death. Why would He allow Jesus to suffer on behalf of a world of undeserving sinners? Because of His amazing, unmerited love towards us, God was willing to pay any price to call us His. In His deity, sitting at the right hand of the Father, Jesus was already perfect. Yet God sent Him to suffer on this earth to make Christ even better. But how could suffering make our perfect Savior better? Because it was through the pain and suffering Jesus endured, that He got a perfect picture of who we are. How frail, limited, desperate, and hopeless humanity is. He felt the same pain, agony, despair, and loneliness we, God’s children feel. And because of that, He perfectly knows how to help bring us to God, and transform us into His likeness. And through His sacrificial death, Jesus fulfilled God’s plan of reconciling His children back to Himself.

October 10th – Romans 9:26

Romans 9:26

Do you ever find yourself questioning God over the people He blesses and the mercy He shows? So did the Israelites. They knew they were God’s children and He was their God. So what business did He have including the Gentiles in His plan? Yet God’s children are all of the people of the earth. And in His great mercy, that none of us deserve, has offered salvation to both Jew and Gentile alike. Because Our Father in heaven loves all of His children, He wants each of us to become adopted heirs into His family. And as the sovereign Creator, He alone chooses who will receive His mercy and compassion. It was always God’s plan from the beginning to have one family, reconciled to Himself through Christ. And His plans are always best. So although we may not understand His ways or reasonings, we can trust Him. Most of all, we should be grateful for the love and unmerited grace He shows to us, sinners who deserve nothing, but who through Christ, received everything.

October 4th – 2 Corinthians 6:18

2 Corinthians 6:18

Trying to live with one foot in the flesh and the other in the Spirit is a balancing act doomed to fail. For as Matthew 6:24 tells us, “No one can serve two masters.” God wants both of our feet firmly planted with Him. And to do that means separating ourselves from the evils of the world. God called His children of Israel to live a life separate and distinct. To be holy among the other nations. And for us to be sons and daughters of God, means doing the same. We too are to lead lives separate and distinct. Holy among the wicked of the world. Which means loving the lost, sharing the Gospel with the lost, and being godly examples for the lost. But it doesn’t mean becoming influenced by the lost. Because it doesn’t take much for temptation to get a foothold in our lives. And Satan never passes up an opportunity to tempt us into compromising our faith.
