Soul Rest

January 23rd – Psalm 62:1

Psalm 62:1

Psalm 62:1 reminds us that our souls find rest in God alone, and that truth feels especially needed in a world that never slows down. Rest is vital for our bodies and minds. Because it allows us to recover, reduces stress, and helps us function the way we were designed to. Yet true rest feels harder than ever to find in our 24-hour, always-on world where noise, demands, and distractions never seem to stop. Even when we sit still, our thoughts race and our hearts remain restless. So we try to find relief in scrolling, staying busy, or pushing through exhaustion. But it only leaves us more worn down. That’s because the deepest weariness we carry isn’t just physical or mental, it’s spiritual. And what we need is God. For only God can quiet our anxious thoughts, steady our racing hearts, and restore what life has drained from us. When we come to Him, we discover a rest that goes beyond sleep or silence. We find a soul-deep rest that renews our strength and reminds us we are safely held in His care.

Reflection Question:
Where have you been looking for rest lately, and how can you intentionally turn to God for the soul-deep rest you truly need?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, my soul is tired and longing for rest. Help me to slow down and come to You instead of trying to carry everything on my own. Quiet my anxious thoughts, restore my weary heart, and teach me to find my true rest in Your presence. Amen.

December 27th – Matthew 11:28

Matthew 11:28

Are any of you weary and burdened? Like me, do you at times feel overloaded in your mind and in your spirit? Do your burdens manifest themselves in physical ways? When you go to bed at night, are you exhausted from the battles you fight each day? If so what you need is not physical rest, but soul rest. You need release from stress, worry, guilt, fear, and bitterness. This is soul rest. And soul rest can only be found in Jesus who offers it freely to all. From His unending love, the Lord makes each of us an incredible offer. If  you’re tired come to Me! I and I alone can give you the rest you so desperately crave! All of us need soul rest and Jesus promises to give it to us when we rest in Him. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” God doesn’t always keep the burdens from our lives, but through Jesus He offers the perfect refuge!

April 3rd – Exodus 33:14

Exodus 33:14

It’s a busy world out there. With work, families, and life in general, no wonder we get anxious, stressed, and tired. And that’s the condition our Enemy likes us best. Because usually it’s when we are at our most vulnerable. Which is why it’s so important for us to take time to rest. Physical rest, but also soul rest. We rest our souls by spending time with God. That includes reading His Word, prayer, and seeking His presence. God Knows the rest we need. And when we come to Him, we will find relaxation, peace, and restoration; everything we need to conquer the Enemy. And everything we need to not just survive, but thrive in a chaotic world! So no matter how busy your day, I urge to take a moment to truly rest in God’s presence.

Rest in Jesus – (Matthew 11)

Matthew  11

“Life is difficult for everyone; everyone has bad days. Everyone has trouble in their life because it doesn’t matter how rich you are, sickness, trouble, worry, and love; these things will mess with you at every level of life.” …Domhnall Gleeson

Sometimes it seems life has a way of kicking us when we’re down. And just when we think we can’t get any lower, we get kicked again. Setbacks, failure, and tragedy are a part of life. No matter who you are, there’s no way around it. But even in our times of deepest despair, we can can find comfort and rest through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. …
