Success

January 28th – Proverbs 20:24

Proverbs 20:24

Proverbs 20:24 reminds us that our steps are directed by the Lord, even when the world insists it knows a better way. Everywhere we turn, we are told who to be, what to have, how to look, what to wear, and how to define success. And those who don’t follow those expectations are often labeled misfits or pushed aside as unwanted. This constant pressure can leave us striving, exhausted, and feeling as though we never quite measure up. Yet true success is not found in doing more, becoming more, or accumulating more. Succeed is found in surrender. When we release our grip on the world’s plans and expectations and place our lives fully in God’s hands, we begin to walk in freedom rather than comparison. God’s ways may not always make sense to others. And the path He sets before us may look different than what the world applauds. But His plans are intentional, loving, and perfectly designed to lead us into a life of peace, purpose, and lasting fulfillment.

Reflection Question:
In what areas of your life are you still trying to meet the world’s expectations instead of fully surrendering to God’s direction?

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, help me to release the pressure to measure up to the world’s standards and to trust You with my path. Teach me to surrender my plans, my identity, and my future into Your hands. Lead my steps according to Your will, and give me peace knowing that Your plans for my life are good, purposeful, and secure. Amen.

July 15th – Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2

Freedom in Christ liberates us from the pressures of worldly standards by renewing our minds and aligning our values with God’s truth. Instead of being driven by worldly expectations of success, beauty, and happiness, we are guided by the principles of God’s kingdom. This transformation allows us to see ourselves and our purpose through God’s eyes. And it frees us from the need to seek validation from others. No longer do we feel compelled to conform to fleeting trends or superficial measures of worth. Instead, our identity and worth are rooted in Christ’s love and the unique purpose He has for our lives. This freedom brings peace and contentment, as we trust in God’s plan rather than striving for superficial approval. It empowers us to make choices that reflect our faith, even if they go against the grain of popular culture. By renewing our minds through Scripture and prayer, we continuously align ourselves with God’s will. And experience the true freedom that comes from living as His transformed and liberated children.

Proverbs 10:4

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

God is not a genie in a lamp. He doesn’t sit around waiting to grant our every wish. Yet as our Heavenly Father, He does love to bless His children abundantly. Only He wants us to work hand in hand with Him to bring about those blessings. And that’s why we are counseled to apply diligence to our lives. That means approaching all we do earnestly, with care and watchfulness. Because it’s those who apply themselves with diligence and dedication who are more likely to reap the rewards of success and abundance. Success going beyond material wealth, to a spiritual wealth including fruits of the Spirit like patience, discipline, and perseverance. Such qualities shape our character and foster a deep sense of fulfillment and contentment. As we strive diligently, we also grow in wisdom, understanding, and empathy, nurturing our spiritual well-being. This inner richness enriches our relationships, fosters a sense of purpose, and brings joy and peace into our lives.

Making positive changes in our lives is always a good thing. But unfortunately, being fallen beings we don’t get it right all of the time. Sometimes we make the wrong choice, or follow the wrong path. That’s why God never calls us to do it on our own. Instead, before we make a decision, God tells us to seek the opinions of other godly people. For different eyes see different things, and can offer us different perspectives.
