Week 4 – Wisdom Against Temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Every day, we face countless temptations. Everything from the subtle pull of envy, to the louder call of anger or greed. It’s a constant battle because temptation comes at us in many directions. Whether it’s from social media,  television or movies, relationships, or even in our own thoughts, the pull of sin is strong. But the apostle Paul reminds us of a powerful truth. God is faithful. He won’t allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear, and He always provides a way out. This gives us hope and confidence that no matter the temptation, we are not fighting alone. That’s why God equips us with wisdom to recognize temptation when it sneaks into our lives, helping us avoid it before it leads us down a destructive path. The wisdom He provides guides us to make better choices and to steer clear of situations that could lead us to sin. When we rely on God’s wisdom and strength, we can overcome temptation and live in a way that honors Him, knowing we have His support in every battle.

Questions For Reflection

  1. How can we become more aware of the moments when we’re being tempted and rely on God’s strength to overcome them?
  1. In what ways can we use the wisdom God provides to avoid situations where we’re most vulnerable to temptation?

God always provides a way out. Trust Him to guide you through every challenge. 🙏🏻❤️

Galatians 5:13

The freedom we find in Jesus liberates us from the bondage of sin and self-centeredness. Instead, redirecting our lives towards love and service. This newfound freedom isn’t a license to pursue selfish desires, but a call to emulate Christ’s love in our daily lives. By being free in Jesus, we are empowered to look beyond our own needs and to seek the well-being of others. Allowing us to reflect God’s love in practical ways. We can use this freedom to volunteer our time, offer support to those in need, and show compassion to those who are hurting. Serving humbly in love means putting others before ourselves, listening with empathy, and acting with kindness. It transforms our relationships, enabling us to be agents of peace and joy in the world. To live out this freedom, we can ask God to soften our hearts and open our eyes to opportunities to serve. June 6th – 1 John 3:18

1 John 3:18

Did you know that love isn’t something we feel, but rather something we do. That’s why we are called to love not just with words or speech, but with actions and in truth. This means actively seeking ways to demonstrate our love in tangible, meaningful ways. We can start by offering our time and resources to those in need. Or performing simple acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor with groceries or offering a listening ear to a friend. Encouraging and supporting others in their struggles shows that our love is faithful and true. Being present and fully engaged with those around us, giving our undivided attention, also reflects love in action. We can also advocate for justice, standing up for those who are marginalized or oppressed, ensuring that our love seeks fairness and righteousness. Praying for others, not just in private but also together with them, brings spiritual support and solidarity. By acting in ways that reflect God’s love, we fulfill the command to love in deed and truth, making our faith visible through our actions.

Psalm 121:5-6

One of the most wonderful things that happens when we receive Jesus as our Savior is this, never again will we walk alone. As children of the most high God, we can rely on His unfailing love and care, especially during adversity. And we can trust that He will walk hand in hand with us through every aspect of life. For the Lord is our Keeper and Protector. Diligently He watches over us guarding us from harm. And never is He far. Instead God is available and near, offering solace, refuge, and support. Like a comforting shade tree in the heat of the day, God shelters us with His power, sovereignty, and great love. That’s why we can confidently place our faith and trust in Him. He is our Shepherd, who faithfully cares for us, His flock. And we can find reassurance and security in God’s watchful presence, trust in His protection, and depend on Him in everything.
